Hi there, i'm 19 years old and I took saw palmetto for about 5 days because it is known to increase sex drive and help with erectile function. After 5 days of use, it lowered sex drive and made my erectile dysfunction way worse. I just need to know if this is at all permanent. Has anyone else had experiences with this? I only took it for 5 days so im not as worried but I just dont know at this point. Any help is really appreciated.

saw palmetto was tried in the late 90's for benign prostate enlargement, and the results were rather mixed. Then Proscar came along and pretty much ended that debate. Saw Palmetto has faded into the background - it's possible you affected your DHT levels, but it will definitely only be temporary. I quit Proscar for that reason, best not to fool around with sex hormone levels, in my opinion.
Dried Damiana you can boil and drink in the form of tea - one teaspoon in one cup of boiled water or you can try saw palmetto it has the same affect. If you try a health food store, GMC, or a vitamin shop you can probably find these herbs. Ask your doctor if this can help you. I hope things work out for you, my problem is quite different.
I would like to start taking 'saw palmetto' to help me ease my prostate problems but I am already taking warfarin & I understand it may clash. Just wondered, is it simply just not advisable to take saw palmetto whilst on warfarin because it is dangerous, or could I take it as long as I have my INR regularly checked?

s only if I stop taking the vitamin Saw Palmetto daily, which I have not been doing in the past week or so mainly from being too lazy to restock on the vitamins. When I do take the Saw Palmetto however, I typically find myself going to the bathroom only about once or not at all each night.
So I was wondering if I should hold off on the Saw Palmetto during the week of withdrawal, only because urination is vital to detox and I figure the more trips to the bathroom the better?

To my horror I came across this page and saw your posts. I stopped taking propecia more than a year ago and have not regained any of the sexual funtion i lost while taking the meds.
