Propecia and sperm morphology

Common Questions and Answers about Propecia and sperm morphology

propecia

Avatar n tn “Women who are or may potentially be pregnant must not use PROPECIA and should not handle crushed or broken PROPECIA tablets because the active ingredient may cause abnormalities of a male baby's sex organs. If a woman who is pregnant comes into contact with the active ingredient in PROPECIA, a doctor should be consulted. PROPECIA tablets are coated and will prevent contact with the active ingredient during normal handling, provided that the tablets are not broken or crushed.
Avatar f tn //www.healthline.com/health/sperm-morphology Remember this statistic which is that 95% of couples who want to conceive eventually do. And that it takes the average couple at least a year to do so. So, hang in there.
398459 tn?1262186144 How much does the sperm/morphology once fertilized factor into the growth and development of the embryo? Since they fertilized, are they considered no more at risk than any embryo? 5) Any thoughts of the possibility of making it to day 5 transfer?? I hope we are jumping to conclusions, but 9 from 24 seems pretty dismal. THANKS!
1358758 tn?1390767067 ve read says that caffeine is bad for sperm in general b/c it slows down your sperm. If he has morphology issues his sperm needs all the help it can get. As for Vitamin C I read that it also improves the health of the sperm. I've read others adding in a zinc supplement, but I'm not sure what that does. Our doctor told us IUI might not work, but that we could try 3-4 and then we may have to look at IvF. We are very blessed that it took after the second try.
1838380 tn?1329874153 My dh has 1% morphology and 43% motility. We have gone through two natural cycle Iui's and it looks as though the second iui failed. Is there anyone with dh similar numbers who were successful with iui? We are now debating if we should skip to ivf.
1055824 tn?1387073424 My husband has fluctuated between 2% and 4% morphology. However his count and motility are good. We have been trying for at least 13 cycles with no luck. I just had my first IUI last Monday and we are waiting for the results. I was actually curious about if anyone got pregnant with IUI and low morph. My doctor told me I had a 10% chance of conceiving. If this doesn't work we are moving on to Invitro because it is a lot of money for only a 10% chance.
1055824 tn?1387073424 Hello there, I was wondering if any of you ladies had your husbands go to get a seaman analysis and they tell you the sperm count is good. The motility is good, but the Morphology is low. meaning a percentage of the sperm isn't shaped normally. Have you ever had this said to you and did you ever get pregnant afterwards?
1129232 tn?1360800358 Any one's hubby/partner have low sperm morphology? If so, was there anything he did to make it better? I have read that it is usually caused by heat, infection etc. My hubby doesn't do hot tubs regularly and/or have an infection. He's not a big drinker. doesn't smoke. He exercises. He is stressed at work a lot tho but Not sure if this contributes to the poor morphology (he has fine motility and counts).
1358758 tn?1390767067 My DH has some borderline morphology issues and we were advised to take Pycnogenol (pine bark extract) by our RE to improve the sperm morphology... havent started on it yet so not sure how it works ...but if you do start / please share your experience..
1294482 tn?1354489288 I was just told to try it and wondered if anyone has had success or is using it. My dh was just told he has low sperm morphology which was 22% and should be 50%. I also have endometriosis and don't always ovulate. I was thinking about getting it for both of us, couldn't hurt. Any other ideas for low morphology? They said count and motility are good.
Avatar m tn Several techniques have been described to evaluate sperm morphology. Sperm are classified into normal-oval shaped, tapered, amorphous, duplicated and immature. Normal spermatozoid must have an oval form with smooth contour, acrosomal cap encompassing 40-70% of head, no abnormalities of midpiece, or tail and no cytoplasmic vacuoles of more than half of the sperm head. Head size is 5-6m M x 2.5-3.5m M.

Avatar n tn My DH and I just completed our first IVF with ICSI. He had 100% abnormal sperm morphology. We had 7 eggs fertilize and transferred 2 which had formed blastocysts. Our blood test is on May 11th and I am keeping my fingers crossed! Best of luck to you!
Avatar f tn I just wanted to suggest starting him on 1000 mg of vitamin c and a multi vitamin. My DH has SA issues and I did that and his count, morphology and motility improved. Did you ask about ICSI?
513660 tn?1217171919 I do! We just went to a fertility specialist yesterday (to find out why I have miscarried twice since Sept. 07). My husbands motility (the moving sperm) was 45% and it needs to be atleast 50%. Then, of the 45% of moving sperm, only 22% were of normal morphology (the shape & appearance of the sperm) and atleast 30% need to be normal. We are candidates for IVF because of this, but our specialist wants us to try again this cycle on our own. (I am not having a problem getting pregnant...
Avatar f tn Morphology indicates the amount of sperm that were the correct shape, ie:a normal healthy sperm. Not a sperm with two heads or two tails or sperm with issues in the midpiece and tail, as those aren't healthy sperm. My DH's morphology was 11% and I was told that 11% was still a good number. 16 million/ml is on the low side, and over half of those are swimming and doing what they're supposed to.
1272624 tn?1395434357 Hi everyone, So I'm on to IUI #4.(did the ivf with icsi already..long story..bfn) with iui#1 I was told my DH had 0% morphology, his count has gotten so much better now then the first time. 2 mil to 55 mil. He's taking great care of himself. We haven't had a SA since. I was told his sperm has pointy heads. I spoke to my Re last week about I'd and she kind of says his sperm has gotten better!? I'm so confused. 0% seems like bfn. Anyone get BFP with 0% morphology?
1571146 tn?1399909692 typically if those reports say 94% - it means 94% are normal unless it says 96% are abnormal and then yes, you will have challenges with getting pregnant on your own and doing things such as IUI. My dr said they usually like to see at least 15% normal morphology for IUI. My DH has the same issue right now. Last 2 IUI"s we did, his morphology was only coming back 3 and 4% normal!
1055824 tn?1387073424 The World Health Organization (WHO) determines the normal parameters for semen including volume, count, motility, forward progression and morphology. The WHO published their guidelines in 1987, with updates in 1992 and 1999. The original “normal” cutoffs were based on estimates from old data, some of it dating back to the 1950’s.
Avatar f tn NORMAL SPERM: 15 % SPERM-MIDPIECE TAIL: 26 % SPERM HEAD ABNORMALITIES: 57 % SPERM IMMATURE FORMS: 2 % Last month, we finally decided to go for a fertility specialist and when they performed the morphology test his numbers came out to be : Normal Forms 0 % Head Defects 100 % Tail Defects 0 % This seems to be a different method of testing called the Tygerberg Strict Morphology.
Avatar n tn Hello....they said that the morphology of my DH sperm was borderline at where they'd like it to be.....and I seem to recall it being about 8% or something like that. When we did IVF they fertilized half the eggs ISCI and half "au natural" (however they normally do it with IVF). So any who on the ISCI side 72% eggs fertilzed and 90%+ on the au natural side fertilized. Sometimes, I just don't know that these docs know what they're talking about!
Avatar f tn My DH had a 2 of sa done and they both revealed a major problem with the morphology of his sperm. My point is sperm must fluctuate a fair bit as he must have been fine when we conceived our daughter.
Avatar n tn I have severe problems with my sperm morphology. My semen analysis results are 0-1% morphology. To me it is told that ICSI could be succesful even with abnormal sperms. Have anybody experience about that?
Avatar f tn So, I looked at the results and interpreted them myself (and I am not an MD) and his sperm count was normal, but the sperm morphology was quite low. Of course, I freaked out because we are now trying to conceive. When my husband went to a follow-up appointment, the doctor told my husband that his wife (me!) shouldn't worry and that we will have no troubles conceiving. However, when I googled sperm morphology, it seemed like this can be a bad thing. Could you elaborate?
