Prometrium suppositories side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Prometrium suppositories side effects

prometrium

1272624 tn?1395434357 HI Mel, Cramping is normal, are you taking Prometrium? I always had lots of side effects, felt preg, so I switched to Endometrin which has less side effects. My side effects with Prometrium was bloating, cramping, sore breast, etc. I think you should take two, one every 12 hours, because with only taking one, my AF does arrive, but taking two, it stays away like it is supposed to. Then you have a beta and if beta negative, you go off of progesterone and af arrives in 1-2 days.
377493 tn?1356502149 Ok, so just got my prescription filled for progesterone supplements. This time it's a higher dosage...200mg X3, and it's the first time they have been prescribed to me in the form of vaginal suppositories. I have taken them orally in the past (as per my OB), but my RE prefers them vaginally, mainly due to side effects like being tired. And because this is a higher dosage then I've taken before, she's thinks this will be easier for me.
Avatar f tn Progesterone above 20 is great! Your levels will fluctuate throughout the day so it is possible that the "drop" was just that your progesterone was low at that particular time of the blood draw. There's no harm in taking the supplements (I'd do oral supplements, aka Prometrium, as opposed to suppositories since your prog. is above 20) if it helps to ease your mind. You'll have to stop taking them by week 10-12.
Avatar f tn Well, prometrium is different than the suppositories (at least, I took Prometrium orally). I don't know if taking progesterone orally vs. suppository would make a difference in regards to yoru cycles... I would have to think not, but who knows. Until you are able to give your doctor a call, I would call the pharmacy and ask them the side effects question, as well as your question about delaying your cycle.
Avatar f tn I also found that I ovulated earlier the next cycle, like my body wanted to stay on track. The side effects were hard on me. Tjimenez10- Enodometrin is much better, just started taking it back in May instead of Prometrium. A much better product for me with a lot less side effects. It did delay my cycle recently and once I got a negative BETA, I stopped taking it and 24 hours later my period started. I am now on cd 4 and will ovulate sometime after cd 10 is my guess!
Avatar f tn Has anyones RE ever discussed possible side effects to the fetus when using progesteron supplementation? I just read the insert for the gel Crinone and it mentions possible cleft palate and abdominal wall malfunctions. My RE didn't seem to know anything about this. What it didn't give in the insert was whether the difference between those taking Crinone and those not taking it was significant.
151928 tn?1275707337 I was on prometrium suppositories for my first iui and nausea is one of the listed side effects. I suffered from it starting 2-3 days after my first dose. It can also make you tired, dizzy, cramps, bloating, worry, irritability, headache and sore bbs. Unfortunately some of those are also symptoms of pms and possible early sign of pregnancy. It really messes with your head as you get close to the end of your ttw and you are trying to guess where your symptoms are coming from.
147929 tn?1294851722 what do you think?? Progesterone side effects or could this be it? I was on progesterone w/DD but we got pg the first month trying (after 4 mc) so I don't have a reference point of progesterone w/o pregnancy.
Avatar f tn s a day though. It brought my progesterone up a lot and the only side effects I had was the headaches. My ended in m/c but not because of the prometrium it was because everything stopped developing probably bad egg. Good luck and I have read lots of women on here that are taking it w/out any problems.
422823 tn?1229736847 I took 100mg for one cycle (BFN) and the dr upped it to 200mg - on the third cycle - I got pregnant. I took it before I went to bed b/c of the side effects until I was in my 13th week. I'm now 30 weeks - I'd say, 'what could it hurt'?! I had two miscarriages and they ran a bunch of tests and found I have a blood clotting issue. So when we started TTC again I was told to take baby aspirin and prometrium.
660187 tn?1225287804 Very sore breasts, mood swings, etc. It turned out I was not pregnant, and they were side effects of the regiment I was on. I am doing the same thing this month, and not nearly as strong symptoms/side effects. 14 days is usually best to get an accurate pregnancy test. I am far more impatient than that though, and actually took a HPT this morning (was negative.lol, as I knew it would be).
Avatar f tn ESPECIALLY AFTER I READ ALL THE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS I WAS LIKE OMG I REALLY DONT WANT TO TAKE THIS BUT EVERYTHING SEEMS FINE I HAVENT HAD NE SIDE EFFECTS WHAT SO EVER ACNE, WORRYING, STRESS, VOMITING, NAUSEA ETC.
Avatar f tn I am also new to this and finished my first round of clomid last week. I thought I was doing okay with the side effects and they seemed to be pretty tolerable. Last night I found myself getting really frustrated with my son and then I wanted to just cry. I think the moods are starting to kick in from it. Driving to work thismorning I couldn't deal with other people on the road and was really impatient. I don't like feeling like this and it is super frustrating.
Avatar f tn Lil Lady is correct. Progesterone is a hormone supplement, so you have to have a dr's prescription to get it. Why were you thinking about starting it? Did a doctor recommend it?
Avatar f tn I was super dizzy and could not drive on them but it was different when I was pregnant, I never had those side effects. I am not sure how you felt with them being pregnant. I am takling 200mg 2 times a day maybe they need to up yours! What mg are you taking?? That is not a good level at all. From what I was told by my RE he said it should be over 30 when you are pregnant. I would tell the dr to give you a higher dose or shots if it does not come up! Take no chances with that!!!
Avatar n tn put me on 10 days of Prometrium. I had few side effects, fatigue, dizziness and some nausea. After the 10 days on the pill I am supposed to get my period and on day 3 of normal mentration return to the clinic for lab work to diagnose polycystic ovaries. It's been 7 days and no period yet. My breasts hurt and I'm nausous now that I'm NOT taking Prometrium. Wondering if these are normal post medication symptoms or if I might actually be pregnant.
453798 tn?1262633421 Hormones have all sorts of side effects. The weird thing is my side effects change each time I am on them. The estrogen has made me nausiated once - even on a low dose. I guess this is why every pregnancy is different. My AF was a little delayed but I think that it was because it takes a few days to get those higher doses of hormones out of your system. You can't start until the levels drop to a certain low level.
399438 tn?1201614376 The doc px prometrium to be on the safe side . I took my first dose last night and about 45 min after I got serious eye itching . Called the doc and they said to stop taking it cause the reaction could be worse with swelling blablabla . She said it was ok for me to take claritin for the itching which I had done . I think my eyes were already a little irritated last night from cooking , it just doesn't usually get that bad .
594189 tn?1386916607 TMI side note--- just got my first morning sickness that made me puke.
377493 tn?1356502149 So I have now been on Prometrium (orally, 300mg a day) for about a week. I have looked it up on the web, and all the sites related to it say to take it before you are pregnant, but not to take while you are pregnant. I am completely confused. My OB prescribed it knowing absolutely I was pregnant, and has me on it up until the end of the first trimester. Also, it seems the symptoms mimic pregnancy symptoms. Has anybody had a negative outcome using this drug?
Avatar f tn Which I understand is a form of progesterone. After seeing a fertility doctor I learn that there are many side effects to the fetus. I just recently went through a clomid cycle with success. I am 4 weeks 3 days pregnant. Today the doctor called and wants me to begin taking Crinone because again my lining is thin. I am very nervous that it is going to effect my baby in a negative way. Do the positive effects of Crinone out weigh the negative. I don't know what to do.
387168 tn?1214756393 My RE is great, and he recommends taking the progesterone "oral" capsule vaginally as well, fewer side effects (though esp at first i had a ton still!) and it puts it right where its needed.. i had super low progesterone before being put on it and GREAT progesterone once used.. it should defintely show up though in a blood test.. its in your system all the same, plus if its in the blood doesnt' always mean its crossing over to the uterus in full strength..
1065258 tn?1273784139 Hi ladies.. My RE said it's time to go off prometrium pills (100mg x2 per day) He said to drop down to one pill per day for the next 3 days and then have levels checked. I'm nervous to stop taking it even though I know that placenta takes over I'm still scared because I had spotting a few weeks ago. Did you guys experience going off prometrium? Was everything ok??? Do you feel any different after stopping the medicine ?
Avatar f tn Hang in there! With all of the meds and the side effects it's hard not to look into every ache, pain, and moment... Try to relax and think positive.. if it gets too bad you may want to call the RE and see what they have to say. SSBD!
