Prometrium side effects medication

Common Questions and Answers about Prometrium side effects medication

prometrium

Avatar n tn put me on 10 days of Prometrium. I had few side effects, fatigue, dizziness and some nausea. After the 10 days on the pill I am supposed to get my period and on day 3 of normal mentration return to the clinic for lab work to diagnose polycystic ovaries. It's been 7 days and no period yet. My breasts hurt and I'm nausous now that I'm NOT taking Prometrium. Wondering if these are normal post medication symptoms or if I might actually be pregnant.
Avatar f tn ESPECIALLY AFTER I READ ALL THE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS I WAS LIKE OMG I REALLY DONT WANT TO TAKE THIS BUT EVERYTHING SEEMS FINE I HAVENT HAD NE SIDE EFFECTS WHAT SO EVER ACNE, WORRYING, STRESS, VOMITING, NAUSEA ETC.
147929 tn?1294851722 what do you think?? Progesterone side effects or could this be it? I was on progesterone w/DD but we got pg the first month trying (after 4 mc) so I don't have a reference point of progesterone w/o pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I took prometrium orally once. It made me dizzy, so I had to take it right before bed. Other than that no other side effects. I'm not sure if the vaginal pill has the same side-effects as the oral ones, though. Best of luck to you!
Avatar n tn I took prometrium as well, and in my case it was taken orally. There are still a few side effects - made me a bit sleepy is one that comes to mind, but at least no irritation. In terms of effectiveness my RE says its no different. That might be a good alternative for you to ask your Dr. about. But as Christine says, I wouldn't reduce them or stop them without consultation. The good news is most Dr.'s will have you stop prometrium around 13 weeks.

1272624 tn?1395434357 HI Mel, Cramping is normal, are you taking Prometrium? I always had lots of side effects, felt preg, so I switched to Endometrin which has less side effects. My side effects with Prometrium was bloating, cramping, sore breast, etc. I think you should take two, one every 12 hours, because with only taking one, my AF does arrive, but taking two, it stays away like it is supposed to. Then you have a beta and if beta negative, you go off of progesterone and af arrives in 1-2 days.
Avatar f tn I'm taking prometrium (200mg) once a day at bedtime post ovulation. I should be 9 or 10 DPO. I've been taking it 9 days. I know that taking this can cause pregnancy symptoms, but my question is: does it build up and intensify as you take it day after day. Ex: my breasts are larger but the tenderness has been very mild, then disappeared, until last night. They were very sore on the sides mostly last night, but then this mornng they are tender all over.
Avatar f tn Well, I was too afraid of the oral prometrium and now will start tonight with 200 mg vaginally...I read it can make the side effects close to nothing. I am sooo scared, have panic attacks and anxiety terrible....is this from having low progesterone...will this help me-I am sooo afraid it is going to make me absolutely terrified although I have to or can lose the baby.....
Avatar f tn I'm taking it twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. 200mg. I take it with food so it won't make nauseated. My doctor put me on it to stop my bleeding and since I've been on it I've had none. I only have to take it for 2 more weeks I think. 5 weeks total. My doctor said it was completely safe. And it stopped my problem. So I'm not worried.
325477 tn?1250551309 I haven't used prometrium yet, but am scheduled to after my IUI next week. How many mg's are yall on? I think i'm scheduled to take 200mg vag suppository at bedtime, sounds like most people are on more than that, should i ask to do it twice a day>??? Did yall have any side effects from it? Thakns and GOOD LUCK!
Avatar f tn I also found that I ovulated earlier the next cycle, like my body wanted to stay on track. The side effects were hard on me. Tjimenez10- Enodometrin is much better, just started taking it back in May instead of Prometrium. A much better product for me with a lot less side effects. It did delay my cycle recently and once I got a negative BETA, I stopped taking it and 24 hours later my period started. I am now on cd 4 and will ovulate sometime after cd 10 is my guess!
Avatar f tn My levels were only 13, and my doc said that was fine, but I think you're right. . . I probably shouldn't just quit taking it on my own. I'm just experiencing so many weird side effects that are playing with my emotions and I can't figure out if I'm pregnant or if these are all side effects from the medication. I've been nauseous for a couple of days, diarrhea, crampy, etc. . . I haven't taken an HPT yet. I want to be a few days late first.
760797 tn?1303264540 I went to an RE for the first time yesterday. She was a great dr, seemed knowledgeable and willing to let me take the lead on how quickly I would like to get things going. Some bw was done to check my progesterone level and it came back at 13. The nurse called and said the dr would like me to take prometrium 200 mg sup. 2 times a day. I picked the prescription up and was a little worried when I started reading through the info that accompanied my prescription.
419008 tn?1219536438 I think it did delay when my period started but not that I would get it. Also - the side effects of prometrium are the same as implantation bleeding and PMS - drove me super nuts. I would have sworn I wasn't pregnant the third go round with prometrium but in fact I was - due to deliver in July. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I've been taking prometrium vaginally twice daily for 13 days now (started the day after my IUI) and on day 10, I started noticing a headache, a dull gnawing sensation on both sides of my head. It is day 14 of prometrium now (CD32) and I am still feeling this. If I bend over to pick up something it hurts even more.
Avatar f tn Nope. I'm guessing my lining was measured before all of the Clomid, etc and they felt like everything would go ok. Although the doc was a little 'shocked' that I told her I felt hardly any side effects with Clomid. She asked "are you sure you got a positive OPK?" and indeed I did. It was nothing for 4 days and then when it was supposed to happen, the OPK turned bright colors equally. So here's hoping.
Avatar f tn This month I used an ovulator kit and BD on the right days and took prometrium as soon as I ovulated, so why am I not pregnant. I have all the symptoms; but this can also be prometrium side effects. I really do not believe that I am pregnant because I have not experienced any spotting. I am SO frustrated. Has anyone gone through the same experience?
Avatar f tn I'm on 200 mg of Progesterone 3 x a day. I'm not having the most glorious time with it...some um....irritating...side effects. It's to help your lining stay nice and thick to keep the baby from being m/c due to shedding of the lining. I've had 2 early m/c which is why they gave it to me. They told me I could go off it at 12 weeks.
