prometrium and ivf

Sounds like your doctor is on top of things. If your hormone levels are low, it makes perfect sense to use progesterone and estrogen supplements after ovulation. I've only used progesterone in the past, but I'm currently getting ready for IVF and will be on both estrogen and progesterone after retrieval. Best of luck to you!

I took Prometrium with my FET and my son is 2 now. Now I am 8 weeks pregnant through IUI and I am on Prometrium. With fertility treatment they almost always give Progesterone.

Hello! so sorry to hear about the cancellation of the cycle!! i'lll keep you in my thoughts! :) I don't know much about IVF, but i took progesterone/prometrium for the first time this month and AF came 3 days later.. i asked a simliar question last week ,looks like most people got it around day 3 after stopping, but some got it before that! Side effects for me were sleepiness!!

I switched from a RE in Czech Republic who did my IVF and supplied my progesterone- vaginal suppositories, to a local OBGYN who gave me a further prescription for progesterone in the form of prometrium capsules (the little pink 100mg balls). My prescription says to be taken vaginally, but the info leaflet says to be taken orally. Can you take the same capsule either orally or vaginally as a suppository?

also u might want to talk to your dr about prometrium (sp) it is suppose to help with making it easier for baby to latch and hold on. I have had 3-4 mc. i was on it for 1 of them. Gl.

If you are bleeding a lot but are still on prometrium, it might just be that your cervix is bleeding from having been manipulated.

Does anyone know if you're taking Prometrium, and you are miscarrying, can the prometrium prevent any sign of the m/c ? i.e. can it prevent spotting/bleeding/cramping , or will the m/c go through anyway.?

Hello all...I guess I don't really have a question...but more of a statement..I am in my 2ww...8dptrigger, 7dpo and 6dp first round of IUI..and I am going freaking crazy!! I am on 600mcg's of Prometrium daily and just don't feel like myself!! The wait is unbelievable and I can't stop thinking about pregnancy, babies, success rates and failing. So I guess I do have a question....Does anyone else feel this way? Or has felt this way?

Does anyone take estrace and prometrium? I have googled information on those, but not finding what I want.

I was on crinone (vaginal) and prometrium during my first pregnancy (IVF), and on prometrium only the second time around (natural pregnancy). Best wishes for the remainder of your pregnancy!

I did the same thing as you minus the Follistim. When I did IVF and was on PIO I actually had a period on it, so everyone is different! Good luck to you! How many days past your iui are you?

s 90 mg of progesterone. Does this seem low? Before (with a different dr) I was on 400 prometrium and then switched to 800 mg compounded progesterone in a vaginal suppository. Are the dosages somehow different or am I getting 1/8 what I was before?

I would have asked my doc these questions but I thought that it was the same a plain progesterone which I have taken before. Also for the Poll If you took prometrium and it helped you conceive did you get a boy or a girl!! We are using shettles method to sway for a boy. We have 2 girls.

So my DH and I did a short protocol IVF cycle last month. We got a BFN and AF came as usual. I have always been very very regular. But now I am 3 days past when AF was supposed to come. I took a HPT and it was negative. We are attempting to do another IVF cycle and are going to start the long protocol. Has anyone else had their cycle become completely messed up after IVF?

Hello! I'm new here and in my IVF tww! I'm currently my own worst enemy and I'm driving myself nuts!! I'm sure soooo many of you can relate! I wanted to know if any other ladies had mild to moderate cramping this late in their wait and still ended up with a BFP? My hubby and I have been trying to conceive for 3 1/2 years. I'm 35 and hubby had a mildly low count. This is our first IVF after countless (and I mean countless!) failed IUI's.

I took progesterone (same as prometrium) in oil shots (IVF) - not fun but definitely worth it - until 12 weeks of pregnancy. Miranda, are you pregnant? did I miss the big announcement?

I have some ideas abt Ivf but not iui , cause am doing Ivf day 7 on meds and am really worried didn't get so good news yesterday.

He has a few other things that he would like to try later before giving up and telling me that IVF is my only option. As for IVF there is no guarntee that I would be able to carry or that my body will actually accept the embryo.

I was on them both on my ivf cycles along with prometrium and estrace.for me it didn't do anything cause both of my cycles failed. And i got pregnant with timed bd without taking any of the meds you take for ivf. Maybe they help who knows and my doctors give them to all his patients.

I've also take prometrium, and at night only. Like Diane, I had to make sure I took it right before bed, otherwise I would feel extremely dizzy. It said on the info that came with the pills that that's one of the side effects.

Hi mamom! I used crinone after my IVF and I'm now almost 16 weeks pregnant! I used one crinone every day and I also took two prometrium pills (am and pm). According to my RE, crinone is just as effective as the shots, if not more effective, since the hormone is delivered right there where it's needed and does not have to go through your whole system first (like the PIO shots do). I used crinone for my IVF, and I had no issues with it...except for some watery discharge and a little buildup. Just make sure you use a finger and gently remove any buildup every 3 days or so. That will also help with the absorption.

Well, the doctor who did my transfer told me to take 2 estrodial per day and 3 prometrium per day and shot of progesterone every other day and I wasn't due to go back until my pregnancy test 10/7. However, I was unhappy with several lapses in care that I received along the process so I switched and they immediately started doing my blood levels every 3-4 days. I guess it helps them to keep your hormones where they need to be to support pregnancy.
