920032 tn?1550680156 I sympathize with your issues on finding meds that work. I also cannot take the dry powders. The technique for using them is different than other inhalers. If your doctor didn't train you well on how to use them, that could be part of the problem you had. Also, the fact that they are powder and the powder settles on the vocal cords and other parts of the respiratory tract causes irritation. That makes me cough constantly as well.
Avatar m tn my doctor prescribed me "proair hfa albuterol sulfate", "atrovent hfa ipratropium bromide , and "qvar beclomethasone diproionate hfa" will this go away on its own eventually?
1468681 tn?1286511575 If you are using these products 1) Have your doctor check your technique as inpropper inhalation rate can cause the medicine to drop on the tongue and cause the irritation. You could also ask to try a spacer with the medication. That might require a change of prescription as the dry powder medications can't be used with a spacer. You will need one of the Hfa forms. 2) Rinse your mouth out very well after using them. I gargle and then brush my teeth.
Avatar f tn I'm on advair 250, i also now have a blue puffer that is fast acting. I dont know if its dry or powder. And i always regurgitate foamy spit do you think that has anything to do with anything? I've been kinda not doing my steroid puffer because im scared too so i dont take it all the time, is that really bad?
Avatar m tn The wrong technique increase the amount of steroid that gets into the symstem. If you use any HFA version of any med without a spacer, only about 20% of the medication gets to the lungs. The rest gets into the general system. If you are using a dry powder inhaler like the Advair Discus or Asmanex Twisthaler, the proper inhalation rate is essential. Have your doctor check your technique to make your medication as effective as possible. I hope that helps. God bless.
Avatar f tn The Doctor gave me an inhaler Proventil HFA I was told to use it as needed during the day 2 hits a min apart when I do need. And I do try it from time to time BUT I dont feel like I can breathe more. I feel kinda shaky from it but thats besides the whole question. She also told me to take claritin and I do take that. any comments would help I feel like I am alone with this. I just want to be healthy!!
Avatar n tn Pediatrician prescribed proair with chamber for my 5 yr old. She a nagging cough since a bout of bronchitus this past Christmas. Gave her 2 puffs at 1pm. Now at4:35 pm she has been coughing nonstop.
Avatar m tn In August of last year, my 10 year old son developed pneumonia. From that day on, a severe cough would show itself about every two weeks. We would take him to the doctor and would be told; it’s the croup, it’s the croup and my son would be prescribed prednisone. This went on until February of this year, when my wife and I asked the doctor to check for some other problem… he diagnosed him with asthma and acid-reflux. He was placed on two inhalers..
290867 tn?1333569278 About a month ago I was watching TV on the couch and fell asleep... I awoke with this horrible coughing and kinda gasping for breath!!!! I really thought nothing of it because noting like this has ever happend to me!!! Scary none the less..... Well last night probably about 20 min after I fell asleep I awoke agian with the same thing,,,, I am freaking now! It is really scarry to wake up like that. My Mom says it sounds like asthma, but I have never had symptoms of it before......
Avatar n tn I was recently diagnosed with having asthma after a near fatal reaction to an antibiotic. It just started out of nowhere. I've lived in the same town my whole life and no change in living conditions. My doctor prescribed me Pro Air HFA. Immediately I was using it more than the recommended amounts. It makes me very jittery and makes my hands shake. When I came in I was told to keep using it and then prescribed Qvar. The Qvar gave me debilitating headaches.
Avatar f tn P i was prescribed a proair. Just looking ahead for future reference I rarely use it.
1555914 tn?1296474056 If it is, you may want to ask your doctor about using a spacer. A spacer is a tubular chamber that holds the inhaler in one end while the other is the mouth piece. It makes developing the propper technique much easier and also allows much more of the medication to make it into the lungs. Respiratory therapists insist that their patients use them. Take care and feel better.
Avatar f tn even the slight temperature from AC to AC give my problems with breathing. it seems anymore i have trouble being outside and just walking normal without stopping to allow my body to get use to the temperature and getting my breathe. it feels like my throat just swells up or tightens up. the mornings i cough with lots and lots of mucous and i also get these fits when the sun goes down. i also will get them if i take a nap and wake up.
Avatar n tn Levosalbutamol Tartrate-50mcg;Absolute alcohol-7.4% v/v suspended in propellant HFA)....i feel problem in breathing 2-3 times a day and i take a dose and taking it for 7-8 years and also have much mucus developed....but "i feel drowsy and headache after taking each dose"..i have to take a light sleep to gain the freshness...what should i do, should i change my inhaler or consult doc.????
Avatar n tn recently diagnosed with COPD/emphysema. hospitalized three times: finally determined that i'm allergic to sulfate based albuterol, combivent, all of the usual "suspects." i'm now on advair (one week= 115 ) and doing okay - except the only rescue inhaler i can tolerate is primotene mist. just took an oximeter test - came out 86-87. i think it's too soon to go on oxygen, until we see if advair works. but i worry about the advair too.
Avatar m tn I am so used to my birth control that I always start on or around the time of my spacer pills. This month I started my period at the time of my spacer pills on Dec. 9th. It was a normal 6 day/regular flow period for me ending on the 15th. To my surprise I started again on Christams Eve... Dec. 24th. So from the end of one period, to the beginning of another was only 9 days apart. It is currently day 10 of this second period. The first 7 days were just as a normal period...
Avatar n tn In the x-ray room, my daughter went hysterical therefore the nurse held her by the jaw to prevent her from struggling, pulled the x-ray’s cone right up besides her mouth and took the X-ray shot. The cone was not attached to a long spacer. In fact, I’m not even sure if there was a short spacer. It just looks like an integrated part of the X-ray. The X-ray machine was not digital and I am unsure what film-speed it uses (D, E or F speed).
Avatar f tn OK my 7 year old has having problems with the space in her mouth. The dentist said we needed to put in a space maintainer and pull out her 4 canine teeth. So that when her other teeth start to fall out there will be space for them to come in. Since we put in the maint-fixed bilateral spacer the space where to canine teeth are suppose to be has almost closed. I have went and seen the dentist because the wire pushes on the bottom four front teeth which are all adult teeth.
Avatar n tn ve had this floating spacer for about 8 years, with no problems and no cost (insurance paid). I was appalled at how something like this easy answer was not offered to me in the first place, but i guess it's all about money. I think the only reason he offered it at all is because of all the insurance claims he gets from our whole family.
Avatar n tn He had a spell in hospital last year for a couple of days and is now taking a preventative Clenil 50 inhaler one puff am and pm. He takes this with a spacer. I am breastfeeding my two year old. Sometimes when I administer the inhaler, as he breathes in and out I can smell or taste the medicine. I usually assume that the amount going into me is minute as it's coming out into the air although I usually try to duck out of the air flow!
Avatar m tn I was prescribed an inhaler about a week ago, and it doesn't seem to be helping with my breathing problems. It feels good and works for about a few seconds after using it then it doesn't make a difference at all. And the other day it actually made my symptoms A LOT worse (I could barley breath for the whole evening and felt pressure). Is there a reason for all of this or should I just switch brands?
