I am taking tagamet otc- Walmart generic brand and for me it is better than the rx ones- But that's just me....
I am aware of Protonix generic Pantoprazole. I have now been advised by a Pharmacist that Prevacid will help me. Will it?? Is this a Beta Blocker only or more? Are there ANY Proton pump Inhibitors out there other than Protonix and generic?. Is there a hospital injection of medicine that can be given?
I will anxiously await any and all replys. I am living on Pepcid now with little relief.
My Pharmacy puts Protonix at $737. for 180 40mg.tabs of Protonix and $570 for Pantoprazole.
My daughter is 5 and a halfyears old and her doctor has been treating her for the past year with prevacid solutab 15mg daily, which at first relieved her symptoms after a couple of weeks until recently. She is a very active child, she enjoys tumbling and running and cheerleading. Lately she complains that her stomach hurts, she can't breathe and when she states that she tries to take a deep breath and she says "I can't Breathe".
actually medicaid will pay for protonix or a generic version of it...I had gotten it filled three X just recently.
Perhaps your son has allergies to foods with acids? Both orange juice and spicy foods have lots of acid content. You could trial him out on the over the counter Zantac, which is an H2 blocker, and will help with allergic reactions as well as indigestion. Or his own production of gastric acids are in excess and with the added acids in those foods, it leads to sweats, like when people eat hot chilli or hot wings.
Heartburn is common while on tx. OTC drugs like Prilosec and prevacid are ok to take.......... Plus it doesn't matter when you take them, not the same with anti-acid pills...........
After having a throat infection for 13 years (Lingual Tonsillitis which has irritated the hyoid bone), I found an ENT who diagnosed me and put me on a few medications to bring down the inflammation. I was put on Prednisone for 14 days, Augmentin and generic Prilosec/omeprazole 20mg. As of a week ago wed the inflammation was down 75% and I was feeling much better after being sick for so long.
I think I have GERD, I have been having these symptoms everyday, all the time for approximately 2 years now, getting worse over time. I have tried Prevacid and a generic of the same kind of medicine and they have done absolutely nothing for me. I am getting irritated by the constant feeling of having to push up the acid and tasting food that I have ate during the day. I also have issues lying down to go to bed, having to constantly sit up to burp.
t resolved with over the counter remedies, such as a liquid anti-acid (GI doctor office claims this is better than chewable anti-acids because it coats), OTC strength acid reducing medication, or peptobismol (or generic), as well as giving your stomach a break from aggravating foods (used to be prescribed a 48-72 hour clear liquid diet when I had gastritis if I recall correctly), it's time to take a trip to the doctor.
He was then switched to 3/4 tablet 15mg prevacid solutab at 3 months old. He stayed at this dosage until about 6 months then he went to the full 15 tablet once a day. At 8 months we had upper GI study done with Pediatric GI who confirmed severe reflux, he was then switched to 15 mg capsule 2x a day and 2 ml Zantac before bedtime.
My cholesterol is still high and she wants to start me on the generic version of Zocor. The concern is that my bp and cholesterol are both high and I am on med for that and they think I could have a heart attack or artery disease .
I also have to start on Nexium for GERD and now I Need a scope to go down my throat with a camera to look for ulcers? Any advice on these meds?
The irritating part about all of this is that don't eat at Mcdonalds or fast food.

Any opinions are greatly appreciated on my concerns. Thanks My digestive problems are somewhat generic. I was scheduled for GB surg last week and canceled aft reading crazy internet junk. I had HIDA of 20% 5 yrs ago. My recent UltSnd shows wall thickening but no stones. I take presc Prevacid 30 2xD and it eliminates any GERD I have had. I have constant gas/burping. I have no pain except that occasionally I do have a dull ache at GB location and radiates up my right neck.
I am on Warfarin and apparently, according to the pharmacist (not the Coumadin Clinic) there can be an interaction. There was also no warning on the box. I transitioned to Zantac from Prevacid because of concern that the Prevacid might be contributing to my arrythmias. I am off of the Zantac for a day or two to see if it makes a difference in my INR.
