Three days ago I went to a new doctor to get the hormones adjusted and she said she does not prescribe bioidenticals and gave me a prescription for Prempro. I do not want to take this and I told her so. She said she does not believe bioidenticals are any safer than Prempro and if I needed to have an adjustment in my Rx due to break through symptoms of hot flashes and severe brain fog along with zero energy then I needed to try something different than what I had been doing.
i am 55 and i had been on birth control pills for 25 years to keep my periods regular now i went to a different Dr she told me i would not start menopause while i was taking the birth control pills so she put me on angeliq a hormone pill i started taking them and after 2 months my periods and after not having 1 for 6 months i started my period again which lasted almost a month i went back to Dr and she wants to put me on prempro i don't know if i should take the prempro or start taking my bi
I am age 66. At age 50 my GYN put me on Prempro. I had no symptoms of menopause. He said that it will happen and I can prevent the discomfort of it by starting estrogen therapy. He was right, I have never had any of the things people talk about. What I am wondering, would I maybe not even had the symptoms anyway? I have been on it for 16 years now. My GYN has now prescribed a low dose, but how do I know if I even need it? I am basically healthy.
40 is a little young to start Menopause, but not unheard of, it can happen. I started @ 49, for 1 year, I would bleed for 7 weeks, then it stop, started, did that for a year. I have not had a period for 2 yrs now. I started gaining weight a little weight in my mid section, I also got very depressed. I'm not a depressed type, always happy, not moody. I had to go on Prempro, it took 2 weeks, I was better.
I am 54 yrs. of age and have been period free for 8 yrs. Within the last year and a half I have been seeking treatment for horrible burning inside and out of the vaginal area. My doctor has done many tests and has said that I have vaginal atrophy (sp) and told me to use replens. She also recommended Prempro as I still have a uterus. I no longer have health insurance and can't afford the prempro and the replens DOESN"T work.
have one next month none that went on until may had a 7day period then in june it hit I started what was a 23 day period very heavy at times stoped for 5 days then started again. went back to my ob-gyn who told me it was menopause. hormone imbalance put me on prempro I am still bleeding not as heavy been taking it for almost a month he told me it could take up to 3 months to even out in the mean time I think im going crazy cry one minute ok the next along with other issues.
The next day, September 18, I abruptly stopped the Prempro and let my doctor know I felt I had been on the Prempro long enough and also due to the breast cysts. So for me it's only been a little over a month since I've stopped the Prempro. I was told I don't need to return for a year.
That is amazing your screening showed no cysts after six months. this gives me hope.
I am 41 years old and am in menopause for about 6 years but probably longer since I had been on the pill until I was 35. My overies shut down for whatever reason which caused me to have thyroid (hyperthyroid) which was caused from the menapause itself...I went on drugs and my thyroid is normal.
I hate it and it *****. Not that I really looked forward to having periods but now have to take prempro, Plus I feel it aged me faster too!!!
It could be the prempro. Ask your doctor about going off of it for a few month and see if that helps. I heard that estrogen can cause congestion along with other medications. I too have non allergic rhinitis but mine is considered Vasomotor rhinitis.k I had this for 6 yrs. but I do not take any medication, just nasal steroid sprays and nasal rinses and it does not do anything. I even had sinus surgery - total ethmoidectomy, opening the ostia of the maxillary sinuses and partial turbinectomy.
i have been going through my menopause for quite some time. i had a hysterectomy at 31 and not i am 45. i am on patches...but i get this awful numbness in the hands in the mornings..i didnt know weather it was something to do with the change.

Will premarin and hrt help with the anxiety that comes along with menopause? I cannot seem to get a straight answer from researching it on the net. I'm desperate for help.
Your symptoms of stomach bloating, belching, gas are not typical symptoms of menopause. The risks of estrogen replacement in menopause are probably exaggerated by the media, but there are some risks - you should only use estrogen at the lowest effective dose, for the minimum amount of time, to get relief. You may want to try it out for awhile and see if you feel better.
Recently the doctor changed my Prempro dosage from .45/1.5 mg per day to double that amount. Do you think the change in Prempro could change my thyroid levels?
Should I request new thyroid blood tests or wait for my annual testing which comes up in 6 months?
(most of the time).....started going through menopause 2 years ago (i am 55), after having thermal ablation, which stopped periods immediately.....just seems that my system gets wacky every now & then, is it double whammy with thyroid and menopause going on at same time??? my gyn is not crazy about HRT, so I'm trying to get through it without those meds.....I feel like it's a one day at a time thing, not really knowing how I am going to feel.....
Have been taking Prempro for 14 yrs. Hot flashes and osteopenia (pre-osteoporosis). Awaiting biopsy results for microcalcifications around or in ducts. Can prempro increase risk of BC, in particular, DCIS?
With all the stuff in the news lately about HRT and their new findings, I would love to know your opinion. Are these studies only on women who have gone through natural menopause or do they also include women who were put into surgical menopause at a young age? I know the study talks about HRT that has progestin also but I am wondering what your thoughts are on all of this.
I have been shedding for months and it is really scary. I have very fine hair and not a lot of it to start with.I have been on low dose PremPro for years and am a little worried about continuing with the breast cancer element but I am afraid to give it up and lose even more hair. I take a good vitamin, I am on thryroid, I eat right and have good lifestyle. I am afraid I will end up pitifully bald. Help?
I've only been on Prempro since March 13, 2010 and didnt take it for 3 days because I got scared about being on it and my ears seemed to ring longer. Well, Im back on it. I didnt take it on March 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. I decided to give it a fair trial and went back on it on the 24th. Even went to my GP yesterday to discuss maybe just using an antidepressant.
I think I need an added progesterone, but I have been told PREMPRO has some hard side affects. Do any of you have suggestions? I noticed someone was on Climera and another was on the Vivelle w/ Prometrium. What dose of prometrium do you take?
While I still feel better than I did before my hyst. (pain wise anyway) there has to be some way to control these hot flashes!

The latest is the inability to have an orgasm. That made me go see my doctor who prescribed Prempro. My maternal grandmother died with breast cancer. I have a history of seizure disorder and on Dilantin. After 2 days of taking Prempro I decided not for me. I think I need Progesterone and would like to know if others use the cream and what brand. Or any advice appreciated. Thank- you.
I had a complete hysterectomy 4 years ago and went into surgical menopause. They did a complete hormone panel and the normal range for a female is approx 24, mine was 76!!
I went with the natural HRT patch derived from a plant instead of the pill Premarin or Prempro derived from horse mare urine. It works great for me and I am in the lowest dose .5.
I am 51 years old.Am i putting to much down to Menopause. For approx 2 moths i have had this feeling of Dizzyness/being unbalanced. I did have a blood test done and tested positive to menopause/perimenopause (i,m not sure of the difference) At the same time i had a pretty bad sinus infection which i seem to get all the time.
