Premarin for hrt

Common Questions and Answers about Premarin for hrt

premarin

Avatar f tn My oncologist has made it very clear that I am not a canidate for HRT even though I have had a bilateral mastectomy and the cancer I had was not hormone dependent. They only thing she may consider is an estrogen ring which only releases a small amount of estrogen which absorbs locally. Very little is actually released into the bloodstream. This would only be used if other non-hormonal lubricants did not work. This will not do much for other menopausal symptoms.
Avatar f tn I have had migraines for 12 years now.... got worse 3 years ago when they found a pituitary tumor and last year found an aneurysm....had a hysterectomy when I was 28 and have been on HRT since. My headaches are so bad lately..I have menopauseal symptoms really bad and all the drs did was up my premarin which isn't doing anything. I am at my end with the pain....Help!!!!! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...
Avatar f tn Thanks for responding. I have been on HRT, that's why I am seeking something alternative. HRT made me crazy..even on the lowest dosage. I foun d one bioidentical online that actually contained MSG as an ingredient and I am horribly sensitive to that, gives me migraines, which is also one of the lovely s/e of menopause. I will look up a reproducitve endocrinologist..thanks, didn't know where to turn!
Avatar f tn Will premarin and hrt help with the anxiety that comes along with menopause? I cannot seem to get a straight answer from researching it on the net. I'm desperate for help.
Avatar f tn I am 5 weeks post op after hysterectomy but after suffering a few night sweats, my doctor gave me Premarin oral HRT. It is 5 days now and although the night sweats have eased, my acne has become worse. My doctor said that this eostrogen alone hrt may help the acne, do I need to give it chance? Is it normal to get worse before better?
Avatar m tn After my hysterectomy, the doctor started me on estrogen therapy, Premarin 0.9 daily. A few months ago, I recorded an episode of Oprah, the topic was HRT. After watching this episode, I promptly made an appointment with my family doctor to discuss other HRT options. I stopped taking my Premarin, and upon my request for a safer or natural hormone, she prescribed estradiol .05 once a week patch, just recently (last week) added Prometrium, 200 mg. daily. My health/sanity issues have not changed.
Avatar f tn Hello: hoping somebody can help me. I have been on Premarin.625mg for 7 months and did very well. Before that, I had tried everything else with very little improvement. Before Premarin I was having hot flashes, anxiety, and terrible insomnia. After the first few days of taking Premarin, I began to notice great improvement. My hot flashes went away and insomnia disappeared. I had a few bumps along the way but then everything balanced out. Now, the old symptoms have returned with a vengeance.
Avatar f tn I had my mammogram 2 days ago and they called me this morning setting me up next week for spotcompression, sonogram and told me not to worry! Sorry a little late for that. Estrogen only, ( premarin 1.25 for 8 yrs) then 2.5 after removal of other ovary for bout 5 yrs. Then because I was getting older cut me back to 1.25 mg. After being off premarin for 1 yr, I would rather still be on the premarin. If got breast cancer today, I don't feel like I could blame it on the premarin.
566073 tn?1219434819 t want to give you any false hopes because it was a gynocologist (not an oncologist) who told me at the time that there are several types of treatments for tumour amongst which are HRT, chemo and radio therapies. He also said that HRT would have been the best option for my mum's age if her tests (biopsy) reveal that her tumour is non-cancerous.
Avatar n tn For Total T4 - premarin will falsely increase the reading (due to estrogen increasing thyroid-binding-globulin). normal Total T4 is about 5 - 12 (depends on lab) TSH normal (to me) is 0.3-3.0 but this also depends on lab -- TSH is not affected by premarin.
Avatar n tn I had a hysterectomy 4 years ago and oopherectomy 3 years ago. I have been on Premarin since. Just this past couple weeks I have been having quit a bit of breast tenderness. Is this normal. Also on other meds not related to menopause, for depression, anxiety etc. I have noticed also that my anxiety and depression has increased.
Avatar f tn my dr put me on premarin for hrt...it helped me alot and i had pmdd before my hysterectomy...mine was june 2011 for removal of cervical cancer i've been on premarin ever since, it does work ask your dr what he thinks.
Avatar n tn HI, You can take symptomatic treatment in the form of painkillers like ibuprofen or paracetemol for the headache. For the nausea, antacids may be taken. Also avoiding spicy and oily foods will help. But it would be best to get examined by a Doctor. Hope this helps. Take care.
Avatar n tn I am 36 had a total hysterectomy at 30 and have never been on HRT. There are a couple schools of thought on this some doctors think it's not needed and some think you have to be on it. Prior to my hysterectomy I was in medical menopause anyway so no hormones since age 15. I am fine I have side effects of menopause but I tolerate those better than the side effects of hormones. I don't see any reason why you have to take HRT I know many other women that don't take it either.
Avatar n tn In 2012 I was 39 and had a hysterectomy ovaries removed. My Dr put me on premarin and said he wanted me on it for 10 years. I took it for only 2 and quit. I don't know why. I hadn't had any problems until a few months ago. Insomnia is bad, sweats at night, anxiety, moodiness and low depression. Now I'm wanting to see about getting back on it. I'm 45 now. Any advise? Has anyone done this?
Avatar f tn The pain got much worse and I was not feeling myself so I stopped taking the premerin and opted to try a product I found on line called Amberen, so far that isnt doinganything for the hot flashes and night sweats at all but since stopping the premarin my legs are not bothering. I am taking calcium pills for my bones but I am truly worried for my health and want to find the best options for me.
Avatar f tn It seems odd to follow fibroid surgery with estrogen HRT (premarin and estrone are both types of estrogen) since estrogen causes fibroids to grow... You should call your doctor and ask when your period should start. I'm surprised your doctor did not tell you to use protection (condom, diaphragm) until you are ready to get pregnant since Premarin does not prevent pregnancy... I wish I could be of more assistance...
Avatar f tn I am receiving conflicting information regarding treatment for hrt. I have a uterus in tact I was prescribed combined hrt progesterone and estrogen estarlis patches. Then I went to another gyno who said that recent studies have proved that estrogen only with uterus in tact is safer that in fact it's the progesterone that is toxic. Is anyone receiving the same advice?
Avatar f tn and treating the symptoms can be done w/the use of HRT and Premarin. If this is so, does anyone know how long it will take for the medicine to induce menopause, and how long will the medicine be needed to treat the symptoms? Since i'm uninsured and my period is making me very sick, especially those debilitating migraines, (probably, because i'm too old now) I'm trying to find a way to help myself. Thanks!
Avatar m tn I am almost 18 months post op TAH. For the past 6 months, I have had brain fog, very little energy, anxiety, depression, etc., Do you think this is due to no HRT of any kind? As far as physically feeling bad, I don't. Its seems to be all mental. It's also very hard to lose weight. Any suggestions, answers, anything????? All comments welcome! Thanks bunches! Another hyster~sister!
Avatar f tn I have endometriosis, a family inheritance, and have had multiple removals of lesions caused by it. I have had one leep done for pre-cancerous cells on my cervix 14 yrs ago, before my pregnancies. And I've had multiple abnormal pap results over the years that when sent back for a second test came back normal. Both of my Grandmothers had ovarian cancer in their mid 80s, my mother has not, however she did have a total hysterectomy at the age of 45 due to fibroids.
Avatar n tn com, and saw that many other women on Premarin were experiencing the same symptoms. Then I read an article that said that HRT can double your risk for breast cancer, so I quit cold turkey. Within a week of quitting, the hot flashes got so bad that I was tempted to take the hormones again. I started looking for alternatives, but there are so many, black cohosh, soy, Chinese herbs, etc, and most of them tell you not to expect results for weeks, or even months. Sorry, but I’m not that patient.
