Avatar f tn I have suffered from a form of restless leg for over 20 years, when my brain wants to relax especially at bed time, my leg muscles in top & bottom start to go into spasm, causing my legs to kick out. Its so sever that if prevents me from falling asleep. I am on tablets called Ropinerol they work to a point but the older I get the worse the spasms get.
Avatar m tn I am a 39 year old male that has suffered for years with restless legs, leg/joint pain, both of which have caused many sleepless nights. The pain is more noticeable during weather changes (doesn't matter if its warm to cold or cold to warm). My legs twitch almost constantly and is very noticeable especially when sleeping, I have been told i have had my legs have spasmed to my chest. I have also had multiple arthroscopic knee surgeries due to a parachuting accident when i was younger.
Avatar f tn I am pretty sure this is neurological. First, I have had restless legs syndrome since I was little. It has gotten worse as I have gotten older. I am 45 now. I can get it just in my legs or whole body. It isn't pain, just creepy crawly and I take meds. For awhile now, maybe over a period of 10 years, I have noticed that I am super hypersensitive to touch, especially my legs which can cause them to start "acting up".
Avatar m tn Talk with your doctor abd see if he or she can put you on a medication called Pramipexole. I am taking it for RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome) It prevents my legs from jerking and twitching so I can sleep at night. First looking into it too see if that is something you might.
Avatar n tn I desperately need sleep because I have been plagued by this horrible infliction for the past 2 months now. It can keep me awake most of the night & sleep only comes early morning when this funny horrible sensation subides. My doctor has offered me tablets called Pramipexole/Mirapexin but I understand they are a brain blocker & I only take them when I am absolutely desperate.
Avatar m tn I am 80 yaer old, my doctor diagnosed my case as Restless Leg Syndrome. The symptoms had started three years ago. I would like to know what is the newest up to date medicine. I'm using (Pramipexole) but I suffer a dizziness side effect. I need your help to use a medicine which have not such side effect. Thanks in advance.
1840891 tn?1431547793 I just wanted to share something I recently learned about yet another possible side effect of interferon, and an effective treatment for it. A month or two ago I started developing a new sleep problem (in addition to the usual one of ribavirin causing more wakefulness, so that even when extremely sleepy from my usual dose of melatonin, I was kept awake by physical fidgeting, especially with leg movement.
Avatar n tn If you go that route just be aware that magnesium can also be used as a tx for constipation – so you might find yourself in the bathroom a little more. For me that effect was very minor and nowhere near as much a problem as the being kept awake by jerking around all night. I've recently read that RLS is more common in those with HCV than in the rest of the population, so its not just caused by the drugs, although it was for me. Good luck!
Avatar m tn Has anyone tried Pramipexole (Mirapex, Mirapexin, Sifrol) for chronic pain? I have had low back pain for about 15 years now. I finally got someone to do an MRI back in June (I think, it was slightly before summer 2016) and they found a herniated disc at L4-L5 and a degenerated disc at L5-S1. The neurosurgeon decided surgery wasn't worth the risk and pain treatment was the best option.
Avatar m tn I feel for you. I broke my back L-1 burst fracture in an auto accident in 2003. I had surgery to put two rods and eight screws put in my back. After two years I was still in incredible pain so I had another surgery to remove the instrumentation in hopes of decreasing the pain. Well it's 11 years later and I have been in pain every day since then. I have tried everything from pain pills to physical therapy to steroid shots to chiropractic care and I'm still in pain.
Avatar f tn Muscle relaxers might work but not for long. Hylands RLS worked wonders for me and for others but everyone is different. It's over the counter.
1591337 tn?1297101349 try my fetal stretch. I have been suffering with severe restless legs syndrome for 35 years. A month ago, I accidently found a method to eliminate the symptoms for approximatel 24 hours. I call it the fetal stretch and it has changed my life. When i feel the symptoms resuming, i simply lay on my side, get into a very tight fetal position, really stretching the back and legs, hold for 2 minutes, release, and symptoms disappear for about 24 hours.
Avatar n tn I'm 8 weeks pregnant with my second child and my restless legs are giving me a fit. Does anyone have this problem or any things I can try for relief? I'm at my wits end because it's affecting my sleep and my sanity! Thanks for any suggestions.
Avatar m tn It's associated with kidney problems, pregnancy, and iron deficiency. And you don't have to be anemic to be low enough on iron to experience RLS. If you have restless legs, you should have your serum ferritin checked: This is a measure of body iron stores-not just your hemoglobin and hematocrit, which is what doctors test for when they suspect anemia. If it's below 30, supplement with iron for two months.
Avatar f tn But you may need sleep aids. For me, melatonin worked best. All this plus Hylands Restless Legs and heating pads..
690549 tn?1288882721 Life can be hard, for sure, but we have a lot of support here and can learn to manage together! The easiest thing in the world is getting rid of the restless legs--that will help a lot. Good luck!
5796302 tn?1382980534 Elevate your legs and stretch when you wake up and before you go to bed.
1801781 tn?1461629469 s possible. Usually the restless legs calms down when the acute withdraws subside. At least it did for me.
Avatar f tn A lot of people use the highlands rls for the restless legs, I used to feel like there were little pins in my legs I remember how bad it felt, I think I mentioned this to you but I put heating pads on my legs when I watched tv I swear by that!!! So glad you don"t have the depression so I think from my experience as everyone is different I think in a few days you will be over the nausea and Rls!!!!
491910 tn?1209366193 Hi everyone, just a quick question, my legs have been very restless (which I see is normal based on what I've read), I was wondering about how long that lasts? It's driving me nuts. I mean, it doesn't hurt but it's just there enough to bother me haha...I know everyone is different, but any info on this would be very helpful to me! Please tell me it goes away!!!
Avatar f tn But I noticed on days that I have a cup of coffee in the afternoon or a soda(sugar) desserts I will be a little restless at night. Watch what your eating and drinking for a few days. Lay off energy drinks and Gatorade or anything with too much sugar or caffiene. Who knows it's just a suggestion. My body just seems sensitive to what I'm putting in it since I've quit the meds(40 days today)..good luck with it, I know how it feels.
Avatar f tn My friend is a sports therapy doctor and he told Mr to do this. I have restless legs really bad and painful cramps. Take a 15-20 min walk before bed and then drink two 8oz glasses of tonic water. They get a Lil achy still but the pain has lessened so much that I usually get up to only tinkle in the night.
Avatar f tn Does anyone else suffer from restless legs during their pregnancy? I'm 11 weeks, and wake up at night feeling like my legs are in an electrical socket. I have to get up and walk around all night and it's awful! I had this with my 1st pregnancy but definitely not this early! Is there anything to do to fix it?
Avatar f tn Do yall have any tips on how to settle restless legs. This is our 3rd baby and iv had them thru each pregnancy but this pregnancy is the worst with them. I can't even fall asleep they are so bad at times. I make sure to cut out any kind of caffeine and sugar well before bed time but still end up with them.
