Avatar n tn Colloidal silver with concentrations of 30 parts per million (ppm) or less are typically manufactured using an electrolyte process, whereas colloidal silver with higher concentrations of 50 ppm or more are usually either silver compounds such as silver chloride and silver iodide or are solutions that have been bound with a protein to disperse the particles. Silver nitrate is a soluble chemical compound with chemical formula AgNO3.
Avatar f tn The silver nitrate ruined a few pairs of outfits. It stains and you cannot get it out. This was a few years ago as my child is almost in kindergarten but I think the pediatrician said to clean with rubbing alcohol. Do not get it wet so don't use soap and water. You could give your little one an infection. When in doubt though call your pediatrician to be sure. It's stressful but once it's closed you'll feel so relieved.
Avatar m tn Yesterday I applied silver nitrate to some tiny bumps on the base of the shaft of my penis- my best guess as to what they are is either genital warts or hair follicles that were bigger than my liking so I decided to chemically burn them off with silver nitrate. I applied silver nitrate and put the sticky part of a bandaid over it and left it for 24 hrs, when removed the top layer skin shed and the bumps are still present though now smaller and raw.
Avatar f tn Wow. I started using Pro-Namel several weeks ago - couple months - and now that I think about it, that is when my coughing began. Thought it was allergies to pollen, etc., but after reading more than a few people's accounts of this type of toothpaste with potassium nitrate as an ingredient, it makes me wonder. Is the potassium nitrate what is causing the breathing problems.....from toothpaste?
Avatar m tn I'm 31 and finally had orgasms (cervical ones) after having kids a couple years ago. Not to brag, it was really simple to have them once I figured out exactly what to do shortly after my second kid - I'm assuming a physical change down there from labor exposed the right parts. I was having bleeding after sex and the Dr. fixed my "friable cervix" with silver nitrate a few months ago.
Avatar n tn However you should use silver nitrate solution only after a prescription of a dermatologist as it is not without side effects. Silver nitrate is toxic and corrosive . Short contact can lead to deposition of black silver stains on the skin.so use is to be done only after consulting a dermatologist. I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries. Kind regards.
Avatar n tn I'm experiencing this same type of itching following a pelvic organ prolapse surgery. It seem to occur a couple of days after I was treated with "silver nitrate" during my 2 week post op visit for treatment of wound "granulation." Were you treated with "silver nitrate" following your surgery?
Avatar m tn Important you do not go over 1500mg daily with potassium supplementation. Potassium should come from your diet and almost all foods have it. Fruits, vegetable, certain meats, and grains have the most amounts.
1118724 tn?1357010591 But elevated as well as too low potassium can be bad for the heart and cause arrhythmia. Potassium chloride should not be taken with some blood pressure medications such as losartan, lisinopril, and some others. Are you on any medication? If yes, write them here and I will try to check for you if they are OK to take with potassium chloride.

Avatar f tn I have been struggling with SLK for 4 years, have seen many eye doctors and have tried every eye drop known to man. 617141 tn?1225706428 Transfer was postponed till I get better. Doctor gave me Lasix 40 mg to be taken once and Neo-K (potassium chloride) 500 mg twice daily for 5 days for now. My concern is that I ate two potatoes, one banana, a cup of yogurt, and tomato, all potassium sources today.
Avatar n tn Iodized salt is thus table salt mixed with a minute amount of potassium iodide, Dehydration results from the loss of water and important electrolytes from the body, including potassium, sodium, chloride, and many other minerals that are often overlooked. I am unsure y u r trying to avoid potassium as it is one of the items lacking when u dehydrate...many with chiari may have low levels of magnesium and potassium.

Avatar f tn I meant to add that yes, they use silver nitrate sticks to cauderize the tissue. They had to do this with some granulation tissue that developed around my nephrostomy incision..it didn't hurt, but stung for a little bit. Granulation tissue bleeds very easily and after the silver nitrate treatment, I've had no problems.
Avatar f tn In three separate studies, researchers assigned healthy volunteers to either potassium nitrate (in doses ranging from 248 mg up to 1488 mg), potassium chloride, low-nitrate water, plain water, or 250 ml of beetroot juice (roughly 8.5 ounces of the dark purple punch). The researchers took blood samples and blood pressure readings at the start of the study, and at regular intervals for the following 24 hours.

1936550 tn?1348360208 My baby's belly button hasn't healed yet. Her cord fell off at 10 days old, she is 18 days old now. And her doc applied silver nitrate yesterday. I didn't know what it was until I researched it, and he never bothered to tell me. But now it looks raw, and red, no blood, or pus. But I think it's bothering her a lot. How soon for it to heal?
Avatar n tn Potassium and Calcium and important electrolytes in muscles. Potassium is one of those electrolytes you dont really want to be messed up in your body. High potassium levels can cause heart dysrrhythmias, since your heart is a big muscle, Other signs of hyperkalemia(increased potassium) are nausea vomitting, restlessness, irritability, I am looking in my book right now to make sure i can give you the most accurate information. Chloride there is not much on.

Avatar f tn Hi I have a question for the expert gynaecologists out there. During the birth of my daughter I had to have an episiotomy. This didn't heal correctly and when I went to see the gp they treated it with silver nitrate, which didn't work. I have not been able to get a straight answer as to whether this is a normal treatment or if they were incorrect in doing this? Please help as this is really making me feel upset and down.
