I have been struggling with SLK for 4 years, have seen many eye doctors and have tried every eye drop known to man. Have my lower puncta's cauterized and have had silver nitrate brushed across the back of both eyes. Now am taking 1% cyclosporin, which burns like fire for about a minute.

I meant to add that yes, they use silver nitrate sticks to cauderize the tissue. They had to do this with some granulation tissue that developed around my nephrostomy incision..it didn't hurt, but stung for a little bit. Granulation tissue bleeds very easily and after the silver nitrate treatment, I've had no problems.

Hi I have a question for the expert gynaecologists out there. During the birth of my daughter I had to have an episiotomy. This didn't heal correctly and when I went to see the gp they treated it with silver nitrate, which didn't work. I have not been able to get a straight answer as to whether this is a normal treatment or if they were incorrect in doing this? Please help as this is really making me feel upset and down.
