Avatar f tn from toothpaste? I looked up the ingredients on Pro-Namel and one of the two active ones is potassium nitrate and the other is flouride. Apparently, potassium nitrate should not be inhaled, etc. as it could case ------ yep, coughing and breathing difficulties! What has the FDA said about this? Apparently they approved it, but the FDA's history has been checkered. I guess user beware needs to be the slogan of the day here.
617141 tn?1225706428 Transfer was postponed till I get better. Doctor gave me Lasix 40 mg to be taken once and Neo-K (potassium chloride) 500 mg twice daily for 5 days for now. My concern is that I ate two potatoes, one banana, a cup of yogurt, and tomato, all potassium sources today.
Avatar n tn However you should use silver nitrate solution only after a prescription of a dermatologist as it is not without side effects. Silver nitrate is toxic and corrosive . Short contact can lead to deposition of black silver stains on the skin.so use is to be done only after consulting a dermatologist. I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries. Kind regards.
Avatar m tn My wife and I have a low potassium diet and need to supplement with 1.5g to 2.5g per day depending on how active we are and how much milk we drink for added protein. We are getting a lot of contradictory info about potassium supplementation products. We have been told by a PA and MD that that we are wasting our time taking OTC potassium gluconate because it is not being absorbed. Online comments often repeat the same message.
Avatar n tn Have you had your B12 checked? A lot of people who have thyroid problems also have B12 deficiencies. This can cause similar problems as the thyroid along with more gastro problems.
1118724 tn?1357010591 But elevated as well as too low potassium can be bad for the heart and cause arrhythmia. Potassium chloride should not be taken with some blood pressure medications such as losartan, lisinopril, and some others. Are you on any medication? If yes, write them here and I will try to check for you if they are OK to take with potassium chloride.
Avatar f tn 1, low potassium of 3.2, low phosphorus of 2.2, low sodium of 131, and low chloride of 94. Everything else seemed ok. The hematologist is still waiting on some other tests to come back and is considering a bone marrow biopsy depending on results. I just want to know why I am always sick. Any thoughts are appreciated.
Avatar m tn m wondering if you can or can not use something like Lo Salt that has potassium chloride in it along with beta blockers, and if so how much is recommended. I'm looking to substitute lo salt for some other high in potassium foods in order to cut down on my sugar content.
Avatar f tn Hi! Thanks for responding. I am using the OV watch and was just wondering if there is a "loop hole" in this technology. Meaning to say that just because the watch is reading the chloride activity and indicating so on the watch, could I assume I was ovulating as well. Guess I'm just tired of disappointment. This is the first month I have used the watch and it has indicated Fertile Day one-four and OV Day 1 and so on. We've been going at it!

Avatar f tn Potassium is a chemical element and it is part of the electrolyte that should be in balance with other lytes to adequately conduct an electrical impulse that originates with the sinus node in the right atrium. The mechanism of action is not completely understood, but what is when a voltage (unit of potential for conduction) and electrolyte there will conduction and passage of electrical impluses.
1618806 tn?1304734477 Salad binge?! I eat salads every day. LOL! But I'm highly concerned about the advice your dishing out about Ms. Dash. Ms. Dash IS NOT a salt substitute it is merely a salt replacement. There's a WORLD of difference between Ms. Dash and Morton Salt Substitute (for example) which is loaded with Potassium Chloride. If you take the time to read the ingredients on ANY Ms. Dash flavors, you'll find nothing but herbs and spices, there's absolutely NO potassium chloride in it.
Avatar f tn In three separate studies, researchers assigned healthy volunteers to either potassium nitrate (in doses ranging from 248 mg up to 1488 mg), potassium chloride, low-nitrate water, plain water, or 250 ml of beetroot juice (roughly 8.5 ounces of the dark purple punch). The researchers took blood samples and blood pressure readings at the start of the study, and at regular intervals for the following 24 hours.
Avatar n tn she also got blood work done for signs of fatigue (showed up months before this incident) and her chloride and potassium levels were well above healthy. could this contribute to her period being late? please let me know, thanks.

Avatar m tn Do you exercise? Because sodium and potassium deficiency are particularly common after exercise as you can lose them during sweating. This can cause your muscles to contract and twitch. You can get electrolytes by eating certain foods. Potassium is found in bananas, vegetables, nuts and seeds, fish, milk, beef, chicken. Sodium is found in salt. Your body relies on these minerals to relax the muscle tissue once a spasm occurs.
Avatar f tn I can eat greasy foods and not get deathly sick! I take a pinch of potassium chloride daily or few times a week. I ordered potassium chloride, (FYI: different kinds of potassium) on Amazon. It is a powder formula, love it because I can’t swallow pills. (FYI: different kinds of potassium when you look to order) I ordered an 8oz bag in January 2020 for around $12.00 & has last me all year. I hope this may help someone!
Avatar n tn Mild hypokalemia could be treated with oral potassium chloride supplements and nutritional supplements like bananas, oranges, tomatoes, green leafy vegetables etc. The tachycardia at night is most likely due to anxiety and stress of an upcoming cardiologist appointment. Hope this helps. Take care.

Avatar f tn Last did your doctor say how he would diagnose it-- the potassium chloride (KCl) test is not very reliable-- I know I had it. (Also the IC foundation does not like it because if a person does react it will cause a lot of pain. That doctor said that she can guarentee that I do not have IC low and behold when my current doctor did my lap he also did a cystoscopy with hydro-distention-- that showed just how bad my IC was-- my bladder was white.
