Thank you much for responding to my post, well I consume 120ml bottle of cough syrup in about 3 days, and yes I do want to quit both but do not see how is it possible......about any effects that I feel, i do not feel any side effects as of yet, but i know both these things are silent killers and must be doing something wrong in me somewhere...
t believe that consuming fruit with a high K diet alone would raise K values to the point of side effects. At the moment I am more interested in the magnesium deficiency/arrhythmia information that I have read about. There seems to be something to that side of the electrolyte balance. I asked my pharmacist and he recommended magnesium chloride supplement. I will try anything to avoid the palpitations.

I take Norvasc, Altace, Lexapro, Crestor, AndroGel, Doxycycline Hyclate, and Advair 250/50. I have been on the first 4 for years. The last 3 have been added within the last several months. I also have Severe Sleep Apnea, but I use my APAP religiously. AHI is usually <4, but will on ocassion sneak up to 5.

To prevent dehydration when you have diarrhea, it is important to drink plenty of water also you should drink fluids that contain sodium, chloride, and potassium (Fruit juices, sports drinks, sodas without caffeine, and salty broths) as they are lost if you have a lot of diarrhea.
You might ask the doc about any anti-diarrhea med that you can take that won't affect your status in the trial.

Hi there. You are suffering from the effects of hypokalemia or potassium deficiency. Mild hypokalemia can cause cardiac arrhythmias, muscle weakness, myalgia, muscle cramps, and constipation. Certain ecg findings are flattened or inverted Twave, a U wave, ST depression, and a wide PR interval. Mild hypokalemia could be treated with oral potassium chloride supplements and nutritional supplements like bananas, oranges, tomatoes, green leafy vegetables etc.
