Here is the article I was referring to. I hadn't remembered that it addresses nonalcoholic steatohepatitis and not simple fatty liver so it may not be as applicable as I thought. Nevertheless I will post it.
Is the pitting edema progressive? Are you on pioglitazone? or rosiglitazone? Answers to these questions would further help.

It is a long video , but what I did not know before watching it is that
High Fructose Corn Syrup metabolically is as bad as alcohol for the liver.
The majority of processed foods we find in the supermarket have High Fructose
Corn Syrup which can majorly effect obesity and fatty liver.

on the contrary studies on these cheap and generic durgs are not funded by drug makers, on the contrary we see stupid doctors without trials or studies saying now that these drugs can make liver damage while it is the opposite.

Been doing a bit of research. on www.ivf.com/pcotreat.html and have found that it may be an option for me to have "medicines used....for the treatment of adult onset diabetes... These medications have been shown to reverse the endocrine abnormalities seen with PCOS within two or three months.....We have seen pregnancies result in less than two months in women who concieved in their very first ovulatory menstrual cycle.
On this basis, the EC50 (50% effective concentration) of rosiglitazone was calculated as 9.8 mcM. Rosiglitazone also suppressed replication of HBV strains with core promoter and/or precore mutations in addition to the wild type strain.
"In this study, it was suggested that the replication of HBV was inhibited by rosiglitazone," the researchers concluded. "The mechanism is uncertain and is being investigated now."

I am obese (300lbs), diabetic (type 2) and require medication to control hypetension. I take the following medications – Metformin, Pioglitazone, Victoza (liraglutide), Amlodipine, Ramipril, Bendroflumethiazide, Asprin and Statin.

It sounds like your wife will definitely need an additional medication--if not restarting the Pioglitazone, then an alternative. There are lots of different diabetes medications available that will help. Those glucose levels are indeed too high and should be addressed soon. Please ask your wife to contact her doctor as soon as possible(I suggest within the next 2 days a most) and discuss being started on another medication to bring her levels down.
Other newer insulin-sensitising medicines include pioglitazone. This is not currently recommended for PCOS. For certain people with PCOS, a specialist may advise that metformin be taken. However, further research is needed to confirm the role of these medicines in the treatment of PCOS.
There is increasing evidence that this endocrine abnormality can be reversed by treatment with widely available standard medications which are leading medicines used in this country for the treatment of adult onset diabetes, metformin (Glucophage 500 or 850 mg three times per day or 1000mg twice daily with meals), pioglitazone (Actos 15-30 mg once a day), rosiglitazone (Avandia 4-8 mg once daily) or a combination of these medications.
