Common Questions and Answers about Pioglitazone macular edema

Avatar f tn Is the pitting edema progressive? Are you on pioglitazone? or rosiglitazone? Answers to these questions would further help.
Avatar m tn Saw my retina specialist for annual check up (after macular hole surgery) and he did an OCT scan and found that I had macular edema. Cataract surgeon never checked for this. Can I go ahead with the YAG treatment with macular edema?
344352 tn?1605238012 I have macular edema from a retrial setachment. Sometimes it's fine and I have clear vision. Other times it's terrible and distance vision is blurry. Drops didn't work. I have a macular pucker. They won't do surgery unless I can't function which I can. My question is why is is sometimes worse than other days? Especially when I'm outside it's bad.
Avatar f tn Thank you
Avatar n tn Now, the eye has a continuous blurring at the center, and resulting in double vision when looking at objects with both eyes-after only a few seconds. Retina specialist to be contacted again, as he sees a slight macular edema. Treatments with Xibrom and another non steroid eye drop has not yet solved the edema. Retina specialist now wants to try some injections to quell the edema and hopefully reduce the central vision distortions. Does this sound like a reasonable next step?
1097091 tn?1266793463 How common is macular edema with Gilenya? I am going in the morning to enroll in a MS study and i'm a little n ervous if chosen to do Gilenya because i've had macular edema several times in the past.
1265027 tn?1284839951 apon exam a month ago i was diagnosed with macular edema and was put on Nevanac which is an NSAID. My retinal specialist told me no to lose sleep over it and that it would not cause blindness. I do have central vision blurriness which is a symptom of the ME. I am not diabetic. I have noticed a few new floaters and was just wondering if this could be caused by the ME? i have a re-check appointment in a month to see if the drops are working. Are the new floaters caused by the Macular Edema?
Avatar n tn I now have macular edema after macular hole surgery 5 months ago. Could this be why my vision return has been so poor?
Avatar m tn The latest review shows pressure 15mm on right and 20mm in left and left eye show flat new vessels, laser marks, vitreous membrane and retinal fold in papillomacular bundle. also shows diffuse macular edema, foveal contour altered, foveal thickness 375um and thin ERM. on FFA hyperemic vessels, macular edema and Micro aneurysm in left eye. please explain and also chances of normal return. My vision in 6/6 on right and 6/9 on left.
Avatar m tn How often do you typically recommend OCT scans to moniter macular edema post Vitrectomy/ERM peel surgery? 1 month post surgery my center thickness was 450 4 months post surgery my center thickness was 385 I am now at 5 1/2 months post surgery and I am wondering how I am progressing. Retina specialist didn't give any recommendations, so I think I am on my own.
Avatar m tn I have not seen diamox used for macular edema for quite some time. More common treatments are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drops, steroid drops, and kenalog injections subtenons, and sometimes intravitreal. You should see a board-certified ophthalmologist that is a retinal specialist. Unfortunately the macular edema with RP can be quite stubborn and difficult to improve. It is really more a part of the RP disease rather than a result of the cataract surgery - at least usually.
Avatar f tn Following the surgery I now have macular edema. I have had an injection and that did not work. I have used ZiBrom drops and they have not worked. I do not know what I can do now. I have read on the internet that there is possible laser treatment and I was wondering about that. I have relied on one eye for almost one year and I believe, at this time, that eye is giving me trouble trying to compensate for the other eye.
Avatar f tn I, too, have Macular Edema, apparently stemming from a recent trabeculectomy/filtration surgery for glaucoma. My vitreo/retinal specialist is treating me with Xibrom, a nonsteroidal eye drop. I've been on them for about 3 months. The vitreo/retinal guy says it can take up to 18 months to solve the edema. He says my edema is waning, and took OCT tests to confirm.
Avatar f tn Is there a possibility the cataract surgery could have caused the macular edema a year later? The Diamox seems to clear up the fogginess within an hour, and lasts for 6-8 hours. If I take a nap, the fogginess returns slightly, after a night of sleeping, the fogginess always returns.
Avatar f tn So my question is how is Macular Edema possible? I am not diabetic, there is no history in either side of my family and I have had no prior eye surgeries. Plus, I do not take any medication. How is any of this possible. Can this be a result of a concussion from two and a half years ago?
Avatar f tn My mom's been diagnosed with macular edema in her left eye and is currently using Nevanac eye drops to reduce the inflammation. It's been 7 months now but the doctors informed us it'll be a slow process and there has been some improvement. Since 5 days back, she's been seeing a circular dimness in the center of her vision [right eye] as well and has been having difficult reading.
Avatar f tn I've read that the chances for retinal detachment are from less than 1% to about 5%, partially depending on who is doing the surgery. I don't know the statistics for macular edema--usually peeling the pucker reduces macular edema.

Avatar n tn m just a patient who has had retinal (macular) edema for quite a while. Mine is a postoperative complication. This is a common cause.. especially after cataract surgery when it is called Irvine Gass syndrome. It can occur after other eye surgeries. It can also be caused by neovascular disease or retinal vein occlusion. Diabetes is a common cause, but I really don't think high blood pressure by itself can cause it, but again, I'm a patient not an ophthalmologist.
Avatar n tn I am sure that you are very very welcome here however the heart sites pretty much deal w the heart and macular edema is definately a part of the eye care forum. I would re post there and let the members weigh in on their thoughts for you altho someone on the heart site may have experienced a macular issue in the past and may be able to toss something out there for you...if it were me i would head to the site that is specific to our needs. Good luck and have a happy holiday season.....
Avatar m tn Optical coherence tomography done showed illdefined subfoveal membrane extending supero-nasally and nasally with cystoid macular edema, neurosensory detachment. Left eye scan showed scarred choroidal neovascular membrane with overlying cystoid macular edema. Transpupillary thermotheraphy was done. He complained further difficulty in reading. He had a spectacle corrected vision of 6/20, N24 in both eyes. Intraocular pressure was 14.0 mmHg in right eye and 13.0 mmHg in left eye.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone knew why macular edema and or macular pucker causes floaters?
Avatar n tn Is it possible that this will never get better?
Avatar f tn Likely you are talking about cystoid macular edema. This occurs frequently after cataract surgery but usually goes away. If it developed recently it would be hard to blame cataract surgery done a decade ago. Consider a second opinion from a retinal ophthalmologist.
344352 tn?1605238012 I developed a macular picker aka epirerinal membrane. I have been using prolenza then brown site for macular edema. I had cataract surgery in 2017. Successful!! June 2021 retina surgeon said the macular edema is gone and there’s no sign of fluid. Good thing!!! I’m guessing my crystal clear vision is because of that. I’ve never had such clear vision ever. My question is…when I cast my vision out while driving or whatever it’s a tad fuzzy way out.
