Avatar f tn Study Confirms Benefits of Vitamin E in Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis Megan Brooks May 4, 2010 — Supplementation with the natural form of vitamin E (800 IU/day) has beneficial effects in patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), but pioglitazone's benefits are less clear, according to the latest findings from the Pioglitazone vs Vitamin E vs Placebo for the Treatment of Nondiabetic Patients with Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis (PIVENS) trial, reported online April 28 in the New England
Avatar n tn To test the effectiveness of pioglitazone and vitamin E, Sanyal and colleagues at 11 other medical facilities identified 247 people who had severe fatty liver disease. None of the volunteers drank alcohol excessively or was diabetic, but all were overweight or obese. Their average age was in the mid-40s. The researchers randomly assigned participants to one of three treatments — vitamin E, pioglitazone or a placebo capsule — taken daily for nearly two years.
Avatar m tn Rosiglitazone (Avandia) Pioglitazone (Actos) of the two drugs avandia has been found active in another study on hbsag and hbvdna with high potency, so since avandi is active on hbv and suggested as liver cancer prevention and cure it would be good to use it in october when i will see my doctor/researcher i will talk about this and possible combo with etv.
Avatar m tn Thank You very much for your reply, As I mentioned above, she was given new medicined once she experienced high blood sugar level few weeks back. She was given Metformin (850 mg) and Pioglitazone (30Mg per day). Once she started experiencing low blood sugar level, the doctor stopped giving Pioglitazone and asked to continue Metformin with few other medicines and the my mother was told that she experiencing such low levels of sugar due to Pioglitazone.
Avatar f tn For women who are unresponsive to clomiphene, the oral hypoglycemic agents like metformin could be of little help, or pioglitazone, may bring resumption of regular cycles and ovulation. These agents reduce the hyperinsulinemia and hyperandrogenemia in PCOS. These are actually medically prescribed medicines for PCOS.As this syndrome is very common in women the case is often individualised and treatment option will be processed and prescribed.Fell free to talk to your Doc.

974371 tn?1424653129 Management of bladder cancer usually depends on the type and stage present. For muscle invasive bladder cancer, this requires surgical removal of the bladder. For certain patients, unfit or unwilling to undergo surgery, a combination of extensive TURBT, chemotherapy, and radiation may be done.
Avatar f tn The treatment for bladder cancer depend on a number of factors, including the type and stage of the cancer, your overall health and your treatment preferences- whether surgical or medical. A second opinion may be helpful at this point. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn m a 43 year old man with the cancer mutation lynch syndrome msh2 and a strong family history of colon cancer my 41 yo brother, cousins and uncles, pancreatic and my mother had Glioblastoma of the Brain at age 68.Recently I had a cytology and cystoscope which found tumors in my bladder.
Avatar f tn I suffer from ulcerative colitis and now diagnosed with superficial bladder cancer (Ta, low grade). My bladder was perforated during tumor removal (TURBT) resulting in colitis flare up and bowels shutting down after exposure to leakage. Now offered biological therapy (BCG) treatment and worried that the expected stimulated immune response will trigger another colitis "attack". Thank you.
Avatar m tn There are studies to show that there is a slight chance of increased risk of colon cancer after gall bladder removal. However, the risk of colon cancer can be prevented by avoiding processed red meat, limiting red meat to no more than 12-18 ounces per week, eating plenty of fiber-rich foods, including fresh fruits and vegetables, exercising regularly and maintaining a healthy weight. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I'm sorry, I don't have any expertise in this area. I would post this in the cancer thread, maybe ask one of the docs.
Avatar m tn kidney and bladder x-ray sreen. Also on my ivp.kidney and bladder x-ray test my full bladder image color was i think dark grayish but the only bright white was the lump or the mass on the out side part of my bladder on the ivp. x-ray screen. Is this bright white mass that's on the out side of my bladder on the ivp. x-ray screen normal or is it a bladder cancer tumor.
Avatar m tn m not too sure since I was away at college during this event. When he went back to the doctor they found that he had a hole in his bladder and intestine. The doctors used tubes to suck out waste that wasn't going to the right place and he ended up getting a colostomy. I was wondering if this was a huge error/malpractice on the doctors' part? Was it their fault that he ended up having openings in his intestine and bladder during the prostate procedure.
Avatar n tn My bladder and vagina burns ONLY after I pee. My urine also has kind of a funky smell, this is NOT after sex. I had gone to my doctor for a urinary tract infection and I tested negative. I need help figuring out whats going on.

Avatar n tn We just received the pathology results yesterday and found that the cancer was now in his bladder muscle as well and that it is now Stage II. The doctor is recommending removal of the bladder ASAP. I have a few questions: 1) At this point, is removal of the bladder the best action to take? 2) If he does try to beat the cancer with chemotherapy or radiation while trying to save his bladder, is this an extremely dangerous gamble? The doctor made it seem like it is.
Avatar f tn After removal of the bladder - and the cancer has metastisized (sp?) to the lung and bones - is it always fatal?
