My Dad was recently put on oxycontin- short term- for hip pain. He is having surgery next week. My Mom called telling me that Dad was having to concentrate on his breathing, was dizzy and having problems concentrating. I told her to bring him to the hospital. I will be leaving to meet them but I thought that these were all signs of a overdose. I really haven't had these signs when I was abusing so I am not sure. Can anyone enlighten me?
The maximum dose of tylenol that can be consumed safely over a 24 hour period is 4,000 mg. However, newer lower limits are coming out that states only 2,000-2,600 mg of tylenol should be ingested when taken daily over the long term. Additionally, one should not take more than 1,000 mg of tylenol per dose within a 4 hour period. The new limits state that a person should instead wait 6 hours before the next dose.

I admit my own naivity on the subject, so I leave it to one of you to help understand. I have come in contact with Percocet, which contains 2.5MG of Oxy, but then I also see an 80mg Oxy tablet on the market. Is the 80mg a time released version? Can you cut the pill four ways to instead have 4 20mg doses? Can anyone send me to a decent place to learn about Oxy doses?
They have me on 30 mg oxycontin, twice daily, 10/325 percocet 6 a day, soma 4 times daily and xanax 2 mg for anxiety.
What are my options for the breakthrough pain, that is what I am taking the percocet for and I need to stop with the Tylenol already enough is enough. I talked with my doc last time I was there to see her, and this is when she switched me to the percocet from Vicoprofen, due to the fact that it was doing nothing for the pain.
can taking methadone and percocet togeather cause overdose wich can lead to a stroke? Until January it was only a few a day and then come January I had a very tragic loss and my addiction jumped way up to about 8-10 pills a day. My doctor has but my on .5 mg klonopin, the .1 mg clonodine patch (which I put on yesterday becasue I know it takes 2 days to start to work) and also gave me ultram. I have taken the ultam before and I get absolutely no euphoric/high feeling from it - it has just helped to keep the withdrawal at bay. Any suggestions?
i stoped this drug for 2 months and yesterday i decided to take it but the last prescription the pharmacy made each tablet 100 mg. and i forgot thinking it was only 25 mg and yesterday i took 2 tablets of 100 mg ( 200mg) thnking they were both only 50 mg. yesterday i didn't sleep as my legs started shaking and kicking all nights , my heart beats so fast, and i feel nausious and dizzy. now i'm still feeling the same and a little bit of fever.
Taking even 100 mg of Percocet per day is way too much...you could die from that high a dose...again, taking into account your weight, activity level, and speed of your metabolism. Once you get off it, stay off! Thousands of people die each day from overdose to narcotic pain meds. What little euphoria you may get is nothing worth dying for, and when you have no doubt that your life is over in the next few minutes from an overdose, either get to a hospital or prepare to die.
I took a 30 mg tablet of Tylenol 3 and 2 naproxens 500 mg each. About an hour later I took 4 more 500mg naproxen, an hour after that 4 more. I wasn't thinking of anything other than stopping the pain. About an hour after that I took an adult sized dosage of Nyquil. I awoke Monday morning with a sharp pain in my upper abdomen. I have been taking 10mg of lexipro four three years.My medical dr. prescribed 20 mg of lexipro. My anxiety sent me back to my pyciatrist. Recently I read that if you take more than 40 mg of OxyContin at one time then it can cause death or permanent brain damage. Well when I was ages 14 and 16 I took one of my mom's 80 mg OxyContin pill and I remember I felt like throwing up for like 16 hours straight. I took it in the evening, went to bed, and woke up the next day still very nauseous. I started to feel completely fine about 20 hours after I took it.
I believe 4000 mg is the maxium dose you should take in 24 hours and half that if you are a drinker (appox 2 alcholic drinks per day would classify as that).

I was having bad menstrual cramps and took too much Tylenol. I believe I took 6,000 mg in 24 hours. Now I'm looking on the internet and totally freaking myself out that I'm going to have liver failure. It's been 48 hours since my last dose. My stomach is queasy, but that could be because I'm so upset. Is 6,000 mg spread out over 24 hours enough to cause harm?
I over dosed on 300 200 mg Ibuprofen and was taken to the ER last week where i was given charcoal. Ever since i came back home my body has been acting funny and i am having extreme pain (it feels like my right kidney but it seems a little low to be my kidney) and i was wondering if there could have been some internal damage that would not have shown up right after the overdose but a little bit after? Should I be concerned or is this just my body trying to fix it's self?
The maximum recommended daily dose is 4,000 mg, and you took 10,000 mg. If you take more than the recommended dose, it may lead to liver failure and death if untreated. Please seek medical help if you have not done so already!

I was given percocet 10/325 for pain for surgery and was told to take 1 - 1 1/2 pills every 4-5 hours. I'm opiate tolerant but 15mg every 4-5 hours seems like a lot. Also I have percocet 7.5/325 that says I can take 2 every 3-4 hours. Is this posing any possible over dose problems or health problem? This will only be taken for a short amount of time.No more than 2 weeks. Any advise on the saftey of this would be appreciated.
I take 70 mg of methadone a day - 30 mg in the AM and 40 mg at bedtime. Works terrific for neuropathy! In fact, it gave me back my life! Been on it now for 8 years, and have not increased the amount for the last five years. Still working so why mess with it, right? BUT I was in an accident last March, and it tore up my right shoulder. An another doc said it was inoperable but .. we shall see. In the meantime, I was given 15 mg oxycodone to take for pain, every 6 hours.
