Percocet in the body

Common Questions and Answers about Percocet in the body

percocet

Avatar m tn I think I have had two nights of full sleep in the past two weeks, my body finally gets so tired that it gives up. I am getting some sleep though. Last Thursday, I started getting one of the symptoms that had bothered me so bad before I went on the pain pills 18 months ago. My Dr described it as laryngospasm, and its basically like a charlie horse of the vocal chords. To me, it smells like someone has a cigarrette or OC/pepperspray right underneath my nose, and my windpipe kind of snaps shut.
Avatar n tn Percocet IS oxycodone. Oxycodone is the opiate ingredient in percocet. The -cet part denotes that there is acetominophen (tylenol) in the pill as well, so percocet is actually oxycodone with tylenol.
Avatar f tn Short-acting medications like Percocet, increase the build-up tolerance due to how the immediate release action of the pill works on the body. Extended release (long-acting) medications slow the build-up of tolerance as the medication is released slowly and steadily over an extended period of time from 8-12 hours to up to 7 days of action. The Percocet you take now would become a breakthrough pain medication that you take in between doses of the long-acting medication only as needed.
Avatar f tn This time it was 30 milligrams of vicodin, with a two month prescription of percocet 10 milligram mixed in at three times a day. I tapered the percocet and 36 hours ago quit the vicodin. My body feels achy, but I havent had the restless leg which was a night mare last november and I have yet to have diareeham, and i have slept more than i did when I quit before. I am praying that these last 40 hours are just toying with me and it will hit me all at once.
Avatar m tn feel a bit stressed and a bit yired but working and drinking lots of water. also instead of the percocet one of the times a day I just take tylenol. so the acetaminophen my body craves is still getting without the oxycodone. thanks for the support.
Avatar m tn It is a sudden, and uncontrollable jerking of the limbs or body. I expierence this whenever i try to fall asleep on a plane or in a car. It seems anytime i take an opiate, in my case Oxycodone (percocet/roxicet), shortly before i lay down or try and fall asleep i experience these violent jerks. Id be laying down relaxing and all of a sudden my leg kicks, and recently my whole body just jumped. These jerks are very scary and only happen when i take an opiate.
Avatar m tn i dont want this crap in my body anymore and sometimes it gets a bit overwelming for me because im a health nut and try to take good good good care of my body.
Avatar f tn I do believe that my digestion has been sped up, and I believe the Erythromycin sped up the Percocet in my body and essentially made it as if I overdosed. I tried talking to a pharmacist about this, but she said the Percocet would have stayed in my body for a longer period of time, not run through it faster. I don't believe this is the case, though, because after an hour and a half all of my pain was back again. My heart calmed, I stopped shaking, and I was in pain.
558096 tn?1255887002 Coming off Percocet for me was an 18 hour battle in which the last 6 hours are about the only time I noticed the symptoms. After that I was fine. Now I'm on methadone for pain and it works great. I'm not sure I like knowing what I'm taking but last night I slept all the way through the night for the first time in a long time. It was really nice. Pain didn't wake me up every 2 hours.
Avatar m tn (proudly I might add), she said it was an opioid. So my question is, does opioids do the same thing as far as our receptors, and endorphins in our brains from percocets. With the patch she said she has never felt the things I described to her. I was just curious, does fentanyl patches work the same way as percocets? And what is the difference btw. a opioid, vs. opiate? The more knowledgable to all these drugs the better huh.
Avatar f tn I was always hot so I never turned up the heat. In the summer our electric bill was huge because I had the Air on all the time. Now that I am off the meds I noticed that I am cold. Which is natural because it is cold outside but I used to be hot all the time. I don't think I am still WD. I am through all that and I feel great. So my question is did the pills have something to do with that? My mother is on constant pain meds and she sweats horribly around the face.
Avatar n tn Will this keep me from withdrawing much? Am I doing it right? I used to snort them but have been taking in the correct way and I don't seem to jones as much if at all this way. I have only taken 3 today so far and feel good. Just a bit foggy like out of body but nothing to bad. Thank you all for being here I love you all dearly and hope tomorrow is better. ONE DAY AT A TIME.
Avatar m tn It is most likely the oxycodone in the percocet that is making you sleepy. Unfortunately it is just a side effect of the medication for some. I take hydrocodone and as the dose wears off I become sleepy. Sometimes if I am idle I can doze off for a few minutes. I find that caffeine helps. As soon as I take my next dose the sleepiness subsides. I am not positive but I think this is a fairly common side effect. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn But I was taking A LOT. I think the feeling you are having in your chest is the anxeity from the WD. YOu have to be really ready to quit. I couldn't taper even with the help of my husband. I made up every excuse in the book for him to give me more and more. So it was CT for me. I tried CT many time and could never make it more than 2 days. You just have to tell yourself that you are better than this demon and that you can do it.
Avatar f tn They work really well in the beginning, but then as the body adapts, the slowly lose their kick and the user finds themselves taking more and more pills to achieve the same end. Eventually, the pills win and the user loses. Your son is so young. He's lucky to have the support of family to see him through. The best thing you can do for him is just to accept that he's made some mistakes in the past but that he's trying to get better now.
Avatar f tn Hello!! I also abused Percocet. You are early in your withdraw...it is going to take some time. The first week is pure hell I'm not going to sugar coat it. You will get through this!!!!!i am on day 19 today and still dealing with issues. After the first 7 days the physical withdraws will subside quite a bit. Stock up on items in the Thomas recipe...they will help!!!! How much and how long were you taking the percs? Stay strong and good luck to you!!
Avatar f tn I had a death in the family and going to be traveling about 10hrs by car there and back for the funeral so I went ahead and called for a refill for Percocet as well as the flexiril so that I would have them on hand incase my back goes from sitting in the car for so long - Let me add, that I had to wait at the Dr.
Avatar m tn I have noticed that sometimes as I'm falling asleep, or soon after, its kind of hard to discern the two. I am awaken by my whole body in a way, spasming, but its almost as if i've been shocked, just without the pain. When I wake up I noticed my legs jerk up in the air along with my head and/or arms, and I hear a kind of buzzing noise in my head. Its almost as if I've been spooked and my whole body jumps in reaction. Its hard to describe but I hope you get the picture.
352798 tn?1399298154 I decided after being clean for 97 days that I will flush the pills in my cupboard. I was never tempted to use them even though I knew they were there. When I made up my mind to get clean, I made an irrevocable decision to not use. I write about the pills today to help others know they can do this too. Many of you will have to go through getting clean with drugs around you or easily obtainable. Don't use that as an excuse to take them!
Avatar n tn If you go tot he top of this page, to the right, you will see the health pages. In there you will find The Thomas Recipe and The Amino Acid Protocol. Both contain supplements to help ease the withdrawal. Keep yourself busy reading, watching tv, doing jig saw puzzles or whatever you can do. Try light exercise, even walking up the street and back will help. Take as many hot baths as you can. Drink plenty of fluids. Bananas can help replace the potassium you will lose and help with the rls.
19414074 tn?1477273491 only my percocet showed up so they did an oral swab drug screen and everything was in the report...after a battery of tests it was shown that my kidneys are not breaking down all of my meds correctly or something like that I have to see a kidney specialist to determine the full extent of what is going on, but my Doctor is using the oral swab for each visit....Stop and consider that you do not know everything before you post your so-called knowledge...
512694 tn?1216161406 I have a cardiac pacemaker and a Gastric pacemaker. As one thing at a time gets attacked. The latest is I get tingling in my legs and arms/hands. I as of about 8 months ago have extremely painfull legs. It almost feels like I'm just walking on bones. Extreme pain in feet, ankles, legs, and knees sometimes hips and low back. I'm so scared it's going to spread to other parts of my body. I have tried Baclofen, lyrica, and tramadol.
230262 tn?1316645934 Just a guess but is it is probably the most RX'd by doctors. That's what got me started on them for back pain.
Avatar n tn Most physical WD symptoms last from 4-7 days. Insomnia can continue for weeks tho and sleep is one of the last things to return to normal. How many were you taking per day and for how long?
Avatar f tn are hydrocodin, percocet, roxicodone and tramadol in the same ingredients family meaning if i took a vicodin i should be okay to take a roxicodone or tramadol because they have some of the same ingredients in them thanks for the time to whoever answers the post
Avatar f tn Morphine is stronger than Percocet so I don't see how the morphine didn't help. Every persons body is different so maybe it's the way your body absorbs the meds.
Avatar f tn You said that you have been off Percocet since April except when another injury arises? When was the last time you took Percocet or any other Opiate before now? Also, you said that you were never addicted just physically addicted? I don't understand that. I'm sorry I don't really know your background. How much Percocet are you currently taking per day? It is possible that you will have withdrawal symptoms when you quit taking Percocet.
