Common Questions and Answers about Percocet for knee pain

percocet

Avatar f tn I am 26 years old and I am going in for my second knee surgery due to multiple patella dislocations. My first surgery was similar to a lateral release. Now my surgeon is going to try something more extensive. My question is after my first surgery I was given hydrocodone 10mg/325, which didn't do a whole lot. Now right now before my surgery my surgeon prescribed me percocet 5/325, which doesn't do anything, I have to take 2 (so it amounts to 10/325 to feel relief).

Avatar n tn Do you see a pain management specialist or who is managing your pain? Have you gone on the pain management forum here? That may be a good place for you to look for support in addition to here.
645800 tn?1466860955 I am with everyone else here - definitely call your doctor! When I had knee surgery (years ago) I went through something very similar to you - turns out that they gave me Tylenol with codiene for the pain, but also had a prescription for Percocet if I needed it, but the Percocet prescription didn't get to us before I was discharged. We called & they told us to come get the Percocet & boy did that make a huge difference in my pain!!! Hope you get some relief!
Avatar n tn While my sciatica (and I am assuming it IS sciatica) started with the usual symptoms - pain in the lower back shooting down my leg to my knee - the symptoms have evolved into something new for me. Most of the lower back pain is gone, but the inside and front of my left leg is now so tender, wearing pants hurt. At night, moving the sheet causes pain as it moves over my leg.

Avatar n tn I'm perplexed. I've had 4 back surgeries, permanent nerve damage, torn miniscus in my knee, degenerative disk disease & arthritis in my back/knee/hip etc. I take four 325 per day of oxycodone aka percocet. I've been with my Dr. for 19 years! Today I was told NO medicine at all showed up in my urine. I've never failed a test in almost 20 years.
Avatar m tn I take 4 each as needed per day Percocet 10/325, I have Lower and Upper Back Pain , I at times thru the day feel TIRED then at times Im not tired ,Dose anyone have this Problem or dose anyone know if it's the Percocet.
Avatar f tn Here is the thing i take 2 every 4hrs because i really do have pain. But at night what am i to do for the pain, i cannot bear this. I am 50yrs old on disability because of health issues mainly being my arthritis, but i do not get medicare until 2014, so i am on medicaid, and it does not cover certain things like medicare does. I cannot take this pain anymore. I am so serious, i would rather lay down and never get back up. Why in the world won't this pain stop.
Avatar f tn I have been on 10/325 percocet/ 50mg ultram for the last 3 months. 90 percocet a month and about 60 ultram a month. I am not addicted, I take the meds as prescribed for my pain but I want to eliminate opiates and synthetic meds all together but I am afraid of withdrawals. Is it something I can do at home or do I need treatment?
Avatar m tn I am a huge advocate for anti-opiates for chronic pain. They work for acute pain, pre and post surgery, for broken bones, etc. They do not work for neuropathic chronic pain. You may think your fibro is flaring but it could just be the residual pain of detox. Opiate use over time causes hyperalgesia meaning the opiates create more pain receptors making you feel more pain. Give yourself some time and tell your doc you want to explore non-narcotic holistic ways of managing your pain.
Avatar m tn Hot peppers are a traditional remedy for back pain dating back two thousand years. The peppers are ground up and placed in olive oil and rubbed around the affected area. The peppers contain capsaican. The reason this works is that the body can transmit only one pain signal nat a time. The skin senses the capsaican and sends a "pain" signal, but there isn't really pain. The Capsaican simulates pain. The nerve pain, however, gets blocked.
Avatar n tn Hi and welcome to MedHelp. I also take percocet along with neurontin (gabapentin). The gabapentin is very similar to lyrica. I drink coffee 4-5 days per week and I haven't encountered any issues and I have been on percocet for almost a year and gabapentin for almost 2 years. I don't think there are any severe reactions when coffee is mixed with percocet or lyrica or both.
Avatar f tn Something disk disease, something with her hip, and knee. She was on viocoden and Percocet.... Viocoden 3x a day and Percocet for when the viocoden was not enough. Old doctor wrote her as many refills as she could before we moved...that was all she could do. Went to hospital, they said to find a PCM... Not very helpful at all.
454493 tn?1207194748 I have a knee injury, and have been taking percocet and a 12 hour moriphene pill for almost 4 years. With out these pills I can walk. My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for almost 8 years. We have not gotten pregnant yet but are hoping too. I have a female problem. But I'm want to know if I need to get off these med's while pregnant. I have talked to a couple of doctor's and have gotten a different story from all 4 of them.
Avatar f tn her hip, knee, ankle, wrist, finger joints. Now at 18 years she has been having excruciating pain in her left hip with it frequently "popping out" and causing her to fall. An orthopedist was giving her steroid shots into the hip area where the nerve is and giving her Percocet which doesn't even help at all. He says she has Meralgia Paresthetica and MRI and CT scan show nothing but thickened nerve and soft tissue damage, swelling in the area.
919276 tn?1268759311 If anything, you should be proud of yourself for not using your knee as an excuse to get back on the drugs ( not saying that your not in pain, cause I am sure you are). Just stick to what you are doing!
1278098 tn?1297646373 I had reconstructive knee surgery 19 months ago that left me with 8 screws, a hinge and a plate in my knee. I work in a nursing home caring for the sick elderly. I was on Perks for 3 years and have quit 32 days ago. I am having a hard time managing my pain..I take Tylonal and anti inflammatories...is there anyone out there that has any suggestions for pain management? I am at my wits end and I will not go back to anything that is addictive.
Avatar m tn norco bee n takeing 1 every 6 hrs. now dr. cut me back1 every 8hrs. knee pain now feels like needles all around feeling dizzy n light headed middle back ake is any ideas im open an out dr.
Avatar n tn I did take the Percocet which helped with the back pain I was having but did nothing for the knee pain from the cyst or otherwise. I have told various doctors over the years about the pain I'm in daily, some of it is debilitating. From what I have been told everything is "fine" and "normal" and has "settled perfect." If this is true then why am I in so much pain and what in the heck can I do about it?
Avatar f tn thanks to those of you who have already replied, I last took one 5 mg percocet at 6 am this morning and am now starting to feel jittery and jumpy with hot and cold flashes, i plan on reading all i can this evening about tapering, i dont really have any time i can take from work as i took 7 weeks Jan and Feb for a knee replacement, so guess i will have to tough it out. all support and info will be most appreciated, uh oh, gotta hot flash right now.
Avatar f tn Sorry to hear of the uncontrolled pain that you have experiencing. I have been there but now I have control over my pain. I am not pain free and still have flare ups but my life is no longer in bondage to pain. My pain regimen includes the Fentanyl patch which I wear for 48 hours along with oxycodone IR for breakthrough pain. I also take Gabapentin, a muscle relaxer, valium, an anti-depressant, and OTC Aleve.
Avatar f tn I take Percocet, Soma, Valium, and Phenagran to help me not get sick taking meds cause I get sick at my stomach with the Percocet. Or any other pain killer for that matter. I do have a tens unit at home and it helps. I got Dr. to write prescription to therapy so I could have one at home. Maybe that would help you. He only had me go to therapy to get the unit through them then he told me I could stop going.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, my husband has been taking various pain pills (oxy, vicodin, percocet, soma) mainly oxy for a knee injury for last 2 years. We are trying to wean him off of the oxy with percocet. He has gone from taking oxy to about 10 percocet a day to about 5 percocets a day now. My question is he has been having some chest pains through out the day for last 3 days since he has dropped down to 5 a day, is this normal? Should I be getting him to a doctor or is this a normal withdrawal?
