Percocet pain medication

Common Questions and Answers about Percocet pain medication

percocet

Avatar f tn For the record, I do not get any euphoria symptoms as the meds are too busy fighting the pain, and I do not abuse my medication. After approximately 6 years on the Percocet, it is time to go up a notch. Thanks so much for your feedback.
Avatar f tn It would be in your best interest to explore a long acting pain medication as it provides a steady stream of pain medication across a 12 hour period versus the roller coaster effect produced by short acting opioid medications. Short acting opioid medications are typically used for breakthrough pain or acute pain (pain that is expected to last for less than 3 months). Breakthrough pain is pain that spikes after taking a long acting opioid pain medication.
543518 tn?1245322027 Most pain medications are a mix of tylenol and oxycdon, or IBProfin and some kind of pain narcotic. I have been on percocet for a few years, but when they found out I have hep C and started tx and needed more than the 2 a day I used to take the switched me to plain oxycodon, which is the pain reliever in percoset, without the tylenol. My dy said this would not be harmfull to my liver and since I was already taking this sucesfuly to treat my pain it works about the same.
Avatar m tn I was given percocet 10/325 for pain for surgery and was told to take 1 - 1 1/2 pills every 4-5 hours. I'm opiate tolerant but 15mg every 4-5 hours seems like a lot. Also I have percocet 7.5/325 that says I can take 2 every 3-4 hours. Is this posing any possible over dose problems or health problem? This will only be taken for a short amount of time.No more than 2 weeks. Any advise on the saftey of this would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I am well aware that the maximum daily dose for acetaminophen is 4000 mg. I am currently on a regimented pain medication plan but fear that coming close to 4000 mg daily is bad for me. I never go past that dosage and I don't drink alcohol, but is it dangerous or bad for your liver to always be near the max daily dose? I try to give my liver some breaks by cutting my dose way down for a few days here and there, but I still get scared.
Avatar f tn Im almost 7 weeks pregnant for my first time and Im still really unsure of what im not suppose to use anymore. I usually take mucsle relaxers for my back pain... Is the not a good idea?
Avatar n tn Percocet is safer during pregnancy. You may want to consider switching to percocet. Also, drink lots and lots of water. This will help you pass the stone sooner and prevent future stones.
699217 tn?1323438700 Here is the easiest way to look at it, (i think?) ... Percocet has tylenol in it, however, oxycodone and oxycontin are just straight percocet, no tylenol. I believe that oxycodone is the generic name for Roxicodone, which is also obviously percocet without the tylenol. Oxycontin and oxycodone are the same thing, EXCEPT oxycodone is a quick release tablet, and oxycontin is a slow release of the same med. Hydrocodone is the ingredient in Vicodin and Lortab.
Avatar n tn hello: 5 months ago my mother 52 years old had a breast mastectomy ,gladly she needed no chemeoterapy nor radioterapy.. she has a lupus systemic followed by a shurgen she takes for it salargen.. about the cancer she's only taken percocet and eltarol as pain releases. The mastectomy is followed by a reconsrtuction with a salt water ballon which is filled each month, the treatment is going very well ,however she had an hormonal change i'm not quite sure why.
Avatar f tn Sometimes I want to shout out loud to anyone who is around me to let them know about the burden of suffering I am carrying with this pain, the addiction to the pain medication, and the frequent dose increases because the pain is breaking through again. It is a dark struggle and one to which there are really no answers because to me, medication that is addictive is no answer at all, but rather a poor cover-up.
Avatar n tn If you still have horrid untreated pain after surgery, find a different doctor who will help you. I was getting 4 Percocet(5/325mg) a day. The surgery/fusion did not help my pain, but he wouldn't raise my dose. Instead I was getting injection after injection. It was awful. It took me a while to find a doctor who would help my pain. Even though I am on schedule II meds, I still have quite a bit of pain.
Avatar f tn I have been on different pain meds depending on which doctor I was seeing. These include, tylenol 3, percocet, hyrocodone and talwin. It is two weeks since surgery and I decided to stop taking pain meds as the pain from surgery is getting better. I stopped cold turkey and yesterday had horrible panic attacks. Are painic attacks associated with withdrawal from pain meds. Should I go back to taking them and slowly taper them down?
Avatar f tn Please anyone i need help and answers i am scared please can someone tell me what is going to happen to my baby i have been stuck on pain medication vicoden and percet first it was for my back and migrains doctor gave mr tylenol 3 it didnt work well so i went back to my vicoden and percocet so someone please tell me my baby is still going to be normal and healthy and let me know what you have been on in pregnancy or if anyone is in the same spot or has been and how much u were taking i am scared
Avatar f tn Sorry to hear of the uncontrolled pain that you have experiencing. I have been there but now I have control over my pain. I am not pain free and still have flare ups but my life is no longer in bondage to pain. My pain regimen includes the Fentanyl patch which I wear for 48 hours along with oxycodone IR for breakthrough pain. I also take Gabapentin, a muscle relaxer, valium, an anti-depressant, and OTC Aleve.
Avatar f tn ---- Try not to worry about which medication is stronger than the other. Concentrate on how well the medicine is working for you, the side effects, etc. You will be a much happier, and hopefully more pain free patient. I think the breakdown from weakest to strongest goe ssomething like this: vicodin percocet (5 mg. & 10 mg.
Avatar m tn My question relates to liver damage related to the use/abuse of pain medication. By pain medication I mean OTC(Tylenol/Advil) and of course, Vicodin and Percocet. The short version is: For the last 10 months I have struggled with lower back pain. I am 24 years old, 6'5'', 220lbs and generally healthy/athletic build. I started taking a lot of Tylenol(4g a day, but never more), sometimes mixed with Advil to curb my back pain. I then moved on to the doctor and go prescribed Vicodin.
525745 tn?1212452109 There are other pain reliever available. You shouldn't have to suffer with pain or the bad side effects. Call your doc and ask for something else.
Avatar n tn As for my question, before yesterday I had been taking lortab and percocet for pain, yesterday I was prescribed an extended release morphine and lortab for breakthrough pain. I took the first tablet this morning and I like I am slow, mentally. Is this normal and will it last while I am on this medication? It is not to the point to where I cannot perform my job or drive, etc., but I feel like I just woke up.
Avatar f tn Are you taking the medication with plenty of water and/or food? This medication can be harsh on the stomach and can cause gastric upset. I would hold off on taking them and see what happens. If the stomach issue doesn't resolve, I would definitely consult your physician.
Avatar m tn ) The Oxycontin is give as a LT - Long Term medication that is supposed to last for up to 12 hours while the Percocet is given for BT - Break Through - Meds to handle the BT pain that can happen when you experience pain while on a LT Medication. I hope that your question has been adequately answered and if you have any other questions feel free to ask and we will try to answer them for you. :) Best Wishes.......
Avatar f tn When I was in really bad pain I was taking 2 percocet every 5 hours for pain. So the amount you took should not put you in any danger. Chances are the headache is just a headache and not related to the percocet. If it happens again you may want to talk to your doctor about it. If you are taking pain pills for pain and not to get the high (so staying within your dose limits) you have a very low likelyhood of becoming addicted.
5141762 tn?1364220967 Make an appointment with an orthopedic doctor or have you regular family doctor refer you. If you haven't been on pain medication before they may be willing to try some that aren't real strong, like Tramadol. Many doctors don't seem to have a problem writing for Tramadol occasionally because its not a scheduled narcotic like percocet or anything. Good luck to you.
