I am currently taking the Telepriver protocol with copeg/pegasys interferon/ribavirin etc,,, am in my fourth week and I have some very uncomfortable side effects. 'Roids are a BIG issue,,, traditional treatments are offering minimal relief/results,, anyone had similar complaints? How did you handle it?

Is there anything we can do to ease the side effects.........The high fever was the most difficult to bare for my hubby after the shot......Thanks in advance to u all for giving wonderful suggestions always.......

of 09 I had lumbar fusion. In Aug. I started the treatment (Pegasys Interferon and Ribavirin).I was wondering is treatment intensifying the aches and pains from the surgeries and I've developed several rashes.I go to see my GI on the 17.I asked him about my Viral load last month he said it was 747,386 I'm not sure of the date,and in October a woman ran over my left foot throwing my left knee to the pavement could this had hurt my lumbar healing?

After tx was done and continuing the neupogen for an additional 3 weeks, the side effects became more obvious. I believe the Inf/Riba masked the sx making it difficult to separate. As much as I appreciate that neupogen allowed me to not require a dose reduction of interferon, I began to not look forward to the shots, shoving another drug into my body with unknown effects.

Most people being treated with interferon have flu-like symptoms early on. These side effects get better with time. Later side effects, however, may include tiredness, hair loss, low blood count, trouble with thinking, moodiness, and depression. Ribavirin can cause serious anemia, or low red blood cell count. In some patients, the side effects may be so serious that treatment must be stopped.

Three months ago, I completed 36 weeks of treatment (Peg + Copeg) for HCV, Genotype I. I was UND at 12, 24, and 36 weeks. I had many of the side-effects during treatment and after treatment as well. Now at three months post-treatment, I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism (under-active thyroid) and this appears to explain my symptoms. It seems hypothyroidism has symptoms similar to depression. My doctor has prescribed replacement hormone therapy with a drug called Euthyrox.

I had only mild effects from Pegasys injection the first 24 - 36 hrs. and the first week was the most effects. Each week after that was less and less until after 20 or 30 weeks I hardly noticed any side-effects at all. It was so little that I thought that I got watered down Pegasys. I must have got used to it. I was HCV-1b am now cured. My blood was a little low but it make me sleep better.

ve used both. I prefer Pegasys. The side effects were less and the pre-filled syringe was easier to handle and more convenient. Some people see it the other way. But, 3 out of 5 heppers would probably state the same preference. That's my take on seeing similar questions over time.

ve heard a lot that infergen usually has a lot more/or harder side effects than pegasys, but I cannot say it applies to me. I failed pegasys treatment and switched to infergen. I would say that only the first 2 days on infergen were REALLY HARD and PAINFUL, but after that, I guess, my body adjusted and my side effects are pretty much the same as I had on pegasys - fatigue and dizziness, but nothing unmanageable. I am tolerating it pretty well.

what is your experience of pegasys doctor advise me this to make hbv dna negative but i am wooried about its side effects plz brief me about it thanks

m coming up on my 4 week testing to see how my treatment is doing. I have had absolutely NO side effects from the Pegasys. Had my share from the riba - but you would seriously think I was getting a saline shot except for the injection site reaction. Has anyone else not had SX from the injection? And did your treatment work? I've only got 50% odds anyway with Genotype 1a:( I'm hopeful, but worried.

this is mainly caused by interferon, you are well within the safe zone

1. Friday 2. Saturday. 3. Pegintron was far far worse side effects for me than Pegasys - Pegasys seemed easy by comprison (although I wasn't taking riba then, Riba magnifies sfx I think).

My Doctor I think did not care about the side effects, I ended up in the ER, and my counts were so low I had to go to oncology to get my counts up. I felt like death. I am in remission, and just did my blood work to make sure I am still in remission. This has me worried sick. I hate the stigma, that comes along with Hep-c. t want to take another medication with further side effects. But for me, the interferon definitely affected brain function. I ended up pretty massively depressed. At that point the antidepressant was very helpful but it takes three weeks to kick in, so there is a time lag if you start having problems. 06, Started tx at 4 months post infection, did 42 weeks tx, Bob Gish stopped tx because of side effects of hydronephrosis and multiple renal calculi (none prior to tx). I was on Pegasys 180 for about 36 weeks, dropped to 90 for the remaining six weeks because of the kidneys having problems and then stopped. 1400 riba throughout. A lot of the tx symptoms have improved in terms of the cognitive stuff and mood swings.

I can definitely say I am getting the Lambda and not the Pegasys due to the lack of side effects and the blood test results. The study Drs that I am with does not know which patients are getting which drug. The side effects of the Lambda are minimal. I am fatigued at times and a little cranky at times and a lack of motivation most of the time but once I start doing something I get energized and feel great. It’s just getting started that’s hard.
