I am currently taking the Telepriver protocol with copeg/pegasys interferon/ribavirin etc,,, am in my fourth week and I have some very uncomfortable side effects. 'Roids are a BIG issue,,, traditional treatments are offering minimal relief/results,, anyone had similar complaints? How did you handle it?
of 09 I had lumbar fusion. In Aug. I started the treatment (Pegasys Interferon and Ribavirin).I was wondering is treatment intensifying the aches and pains from the surgeries and I've developed several rashes.I go to see my GI on the 17.I asked him about my Viral load last month he said it was 747,386 I'm not sure of the date,and in October a woman ran over my left foot throwing my left knee to the pavement could this had hurt my lumbar healing?
4 that Pegasys had a slightly better result 48% vs 32% than for pegintron and the side effects were basically the same.
In the 2nd study for G1 &4 again pegasys had a 55% success and pegintron 40%
In this second study patients without cirrhosis did quite a bit better with Pegasys (76%) than than with Pegintron(56%),,however those with cirrhosis did the same .
Those with higher viral loads,also seemed to do better with Pegasys (76% than Pegintron(56%) ..
At my last Dr visit, he did mention that they are starting to learn that a lot of the side effects that people feel from Pegasys tx actually comes from the Ribavirin pills since most people taking Peg are also taking Ribavirin for HCV. He said that it was previously thought that most sx came from the shots. I guess I will have my chance to find out just how many of my sx have been from these pills when I stop taking them next week. I guess it can only get better.
My RN said I can do the procrit on the same day as the pegasys, unless I do not want to deal with the side effects at the same time. So far, I do not have any major side effects that I am aware of from the pegasys injections.
Do you think it is easier to do the injections on the same day, or do you prefer doing it on different days? Once you pick a day and a time, do you have to stay with that day and time?

Another thing to be reminded of some people never really get very bad side effects from the riba - or the peg. Some people just sort of go along and don't have a really rough time of it while others do. It's really a big crapshoot but for most of it there are things that can help get rid of most of the sides (ie: Procrit for the anemia) so if you do get them just be aware to ask for help...........
I just looked up all of the side effects of Pegasys, Ribavirin and Incivek and none of them lists tinnitis as a side effect. However, I also have worsening tinnitis. I am on Wellbutrin and Wellbutrin can cause tinnitis. I had the tinnitis (from the Wellbutrin) before starting triple med treatment. However, the tinnitis has definitely worsened since I have been on the triple med treatement (only 2 weeks).
My bf is starting treatment with interferon (Pegasys) and ribavirin (Copegus) and we are both worried about side effects. The thing is that obviously he will be feeling them but I will not. While he can simply tell me about things like fatigue, pain, etc., the psychological effects may be more complex. I am afraid that although I am very aware of possible side effects like depression, personality changes etc, I may not recognise them actually happening if he doesn't tell me everything.
Guess I got my answer 9.9 hemoglobin. Add procrit to the list.
