Avatar n tn I had surgery, all is fine for now. still on the Paxil CR 25 mg. 9 months ago my husband was laid off, and still is. We finally qualified for state medical coverage, but it does not cover Paxil or Paroxetine. My Dr. switched me to Prozac 20 mg. whcih they do pay for. Seriously, we haven't a penny to spare and opur house is goinginto foreclosure,. I've never seen a therapist about this, and my doctor is more of an ob/gyne.
Avatar f tn Hi all, Just wondering, is there any 1 out there that has had a positive experience with Paxil CR. I read alot of horror stories and am just wondering if it has actually helped anyone. You see, I have had panic disorder my whole life. I am 51 now. I was put on Paxil CR a few years ago and I thought it was a miracle drug. Totally got rid of my panic attacks. Still have some anxiety but am menopausal also.

Avatar f tn I stopped taking my Paxil CR 25mg approx 3 weeks ago due to loss of insurance and job. I had been taking them for over 2 years and before that I took other anti-depressants for several years. Since stopping the pills I have been experiencing insomnia and "dizzy spells". The spells last about 1 second, can occur when I take a deep breath, or move my eyes fast, among other reasons, and happen 50+ times per day. I feel this is a direct effect from stopping the pills.
Avatar n tn I'm going on the my 2nd week off paxil cr, 12.5mg. I think I'm one of the lucky few because I've had very little withdrawal effects after being on it for 3mos and a week. I've only had chills...but that only lasted off and on for a day.
Avatar n tn I don't anything about taking Paxil off the market. If you wean off carefully over a three week period, you should not have any withdrawal symptoms. Headaches can happen any time of the day, but if just at night, it might be the time that anxious thoughts occur, and the stress of the day catches up with you.
Avatar m tn Does anyone else have HORRIBLE nausea from taking Paxil CR? I am on 25 mgs. and it is helping greatly with the depression. BUT the nausea is insane. I take it at bedtime with a snack and I am sick for half of the next day. Ginger tea, gingerale, Coke, oatmeal. Totally bland diet. It is one heck of a diet plan. Please help.
Avatar m tn I am 3 weeks back on Paxil after a failed attempt to switch medications to Lexapro. I have read a lot that Paxil loses its effectiveness after the first time. I (stupidly) have started, stopped & restarted Paxil on several different occasions and it always has seemed to work. I was on paxil 20mg originally then stopped cold turkey and went back on at Paxil CR 12.5. Upped dose over time to Paxil CR 25mg.
Avatar m tn had set in with Paxil CR. I was on Paxil CR 25mg and now it looks like once I get the last bit of Lexapro 5mg out of my system I will probably be bumped up to Paxil CR 37.5. My question is, what constitutes a "poop out"? I hear that term a lot and really don't know what it means. Does that mean that when trying to go up in a dose it still didn't help?
Avatar m tn I am starting week #5 of paxil cr (week 1 = paxil cr 12.5, week 2 = paxil cr 25, week 3- current = paxil 37.5) Everywhere I read its just "keep waiting it out. It will get better." My doc wants me to raise to paxil cr 50mg on Monday if I don't start feeling any better. That is double the old dose I was at that worked for so long! It just scares me to keep going up. I recently tried Lexapro and it was a disaster. I just need some positive feedback.
730044 tn?1231438020 Hey! Today I decided to take myself off of the Paxil CR 37.5mg I have been taking this for months now and I have gained a lot of weight! I have read about the withdraw affects and I can not believe it! This is a horrible med to be on people! While it works damn good...you put on a lot of weight! I can not take the way I look anymore! I would rather have the "zaps" than continue to gain weight!
1512520 tn?1290258130 I was on on Wellbutrin XL 300mg for 2 years, it worked well for the most part, did not gain any weight but it was ineffective for my anxiety and was not working as much for depression near the end. I started Paxil CR 12.5 mg for 6 months (second time I m trying Paxil), I felt great but 25 lbs crept on and it has made me severely depressed. I am now off Paxil for 1.5 months and my anxiety is coming back, and havent lost any of the weight either.
467977 tn?1262714747 Hi! Well, I still feel nervousness after taking my Paxil. I'm in week 6. They say what, 6-8 weeks? Will the nervousness "just go away like that?" or am I doomed, lol... :( I am wondering....should I switch to Paxil CR? I wonder if that would help any?
Avatar m tn Im confused. I have been on SSRI's (Paxil & Paxil CR) in the past and they worked and I have come off on several occations, but currently I tried to swith to another SSRI which didn't work. Now I have been switched back to Paxil CR and I am currently on a new high of 37.5 milligrams for a week and a half and still don't feel that great. Is it usual to have a set back at every dose increase before it gets better?
Avatar f tn I started out taking 20 mg of paxil and ended up on 40 mg of paxil CR. All together, I took paxil for 6 years. I decided to stop taking it because it kept me from concentrating and memorizing which is vital since I am in college to be a school teacher. In addition, I gained so much weight due to the medicine. My doctor helped me get off of the paxil which was a horrible experience that I never want to repeat again! Now my anxiety has come back and it is becoming worse.
Avatar n tn I have been taking 37.5 mg/day of Paxil CR for several years and because my panic attacks were interfering with my ability to work, my medical doctor and psychologist suggested that I switch to 50 mg/day of Zoloft. I am now on day 5 of Zoloft and can NOT stop crying. I'm also dizzy and nauseaous. I feel like I'm losing my mind and want to know if this is "normal" during transitioning from one SSRI to another and if so, WHEN WILL THIS END?
Avatar f tn Can any one explain is the anxiety due to tappering off zoloft? Is seroxat cr working? Is seroxat CR better? Will I get normal again on taking only seroxat 25mg two tabs at night and stopping zoloft by tappering.
Avatar f tn I saw for the first time today a therapist who I really like. With my diagnosis which is GAD, OCD, panic attacks he suggested I try Paxil CR instead of Buspar. Paxil CR side effects really scare me. Especially the nausea part since I also have a phobia (emet) of getting sick. Any help or thoughts???
Avatar m tn After a failed attempt to fix my anxiety and subsequent depression that has come from it over the last 14 weeks with Lexapro and Paxil, my psych is switching me too Remeron (Mirtazapine) 30mgs. I started my first dose last night and already started my taper down of Paxil CR 50mg to Paxil CR 37.5 and hold there for a week. I also take Clonazepam 1mg at night to help me sleep due to the paxil. And I take Clonazepam .25mg dissolvable tablets during the day as needed for anxiety.
Avatar f tn I have been weaning off Paxil from Paxil CR 25 mg, now on Paxil 10 mg (to avoid withdrawal) because I have been on for probably 10 years now. Unfortunately, after about 3 weeks on the lower dose I feel my lack of motivation, melancholy feelings, being less able to handle frustration with work etc all coming back. I really do not want to go back up on my dose of Paxil since it has such severe withdrawal effects if I ever go off it again.
Avatar f tn Hi all, I have been on Paxil Cr for a few years. 25 mg. It has worked really well for my panic attacks but recently I lost insurance and won't be eligible for medicare for 8 months so I ordered my prescription from online pharmacy which I have done before with no problem. Since I was low on my meds and didn't want to run out before it got here I reduced dosage. Took 1/2 pill every other day only problem I had was balance issues which got better after a week.
Avatar n tn I have been on and off Paxil for 5 years now. I started on CR low dose, now at 30mg no cr. My body is used to it... and it doesnt help me very much anymore-although it is better than being with out any medication at all. Soon I will be getting re-evaluated and I know they're going to ask me to wean off it. I am really scared, because I know the few times I have lapsed in dose, it has been absolutely horrible. Any advice? Any info? Everything I find online is abstract and not really helpful.
Avatar f tn After 4 years of Effexor now, I think she likes it more than the Paxil. Getting on Xffexor, or perhaps getting off Paxil had it moments of unexplained tears, confusion, and forgetfulness. At times her behavior scared me. But after 2 weeks, the symptoms went away and she's been fine. Thanks for your wishes. She's doing great, and got through it much better than I would have! Tom H.
Avatar n tn Read a book called The Antidepressant Solution by Joseph Glanville. Good advice both on how to taper off paxil and how to determine if you're ready to come off. The main point is, you have to have dealt with your issues somehow, probably in therapy, and basically feel you've beat it and you're not just feeling better because of the medication still being in your system. Otherwise, when you come off, you'll still have the problem and just end up on another med.
