Paxil cr taken off the market

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil cr taken off the market

paxil

Avatar n tn I'm going on the my 2nd week off paxil cr, 12.5mg. I think I'm one of the lucky few because I've had very little withdrawal effects after being on it for 3mos and a week. I've only had chills...but that only lasted off and on for a day.

Avatar n tn Paxil should be taken off the market no question!!! I don't agree with the answer you got from the doctor at all. I weened off paxil over a years time and am now on day 49 paxil free. Not realizing the strange things that have happened to me over the past year was from the paxil withdrawal I didn't really investigate on line until I completely stopped on January 21, 2008 and by February 12, 2008 the proverbial s## hit the fan.
Avatar m tn m going on 11 years of GAD that have been relatively taken care of until the past few months. I have taken paxil and paxil cr over the years and it has worked great, even when I cut cold turkey and went through nasty withdrawals. I could always count on it working when I went back on. Fastforward to today.... I am starting week #5 of paxil cr (week 1 = paxil cr 12.5, week 2 = paxil cr 25, week 3- current = paxil 37.5) Everywhere I read its just "keep waiting it out.
467977 tn?1262714747 Does anyone know if these are the same? I used to take Paroxetine generic (civilian world) and now realized the army pharmacy gives me Paxil but they label it "Paxil (Paroxetine)" on the bottle....hmmmmmmmmm.............
Avatar n tn yes-I've always felt pretty good on paxil, although it was the only one I'd tried. I think I actually feel better on the Paxil 20 as compared to the Paxil CR 25, although I don't know why that would be. I've read alot about wieght gain and paxil, but it wasn't a problem for 2 years until now. I've noticed that just my lower belly seems to be pooched out, rather suddenly. SO tht could be a result of the hysterectomy, age, paxil, or Halloween, or all of them.
Avatar f tn Hi all, Just wondering, is there any 1 out there that has had a positive experience with Paxil CR. I read alot of horror stories and am just wondering if it has actually helped anyone. You see, I have had panic disorder my whole life. I am 51 now. I was put on Paxil CR a few years ago and I thought it was a miracle drug. Totally got rid of my panic attacks. Still have some anxiety but am menopausal also.
Avatar m tn After a failed attempt to fix my anxiety and subsequent depression that has come from it over the last 14 weeks with Lexapro and Paxil, my psych is switching me too Remeron (Mirtazapine) 30mgs. I started my first dose last night and already started my taper down of Paxil CR 50mg to Paxil CR 37.5 and hold there for a week. I also take Clonazepam 1mg at night to help me sleep due to the paxil. And I take Clonazepam .25mg dissolvable tablets during the day as needed for anxiety.
Avatar f tn Be careful in the mean time...I experienced the same thing when I weaned off Paxil 6 years ago except I also had a feeling "electrical zaps" in my head, difficulty concentrating (resulting in an accident w/ my car and house) and what I can only call "visions" that resembled hallucination-like day dreams. I'm not saying this is going to happen to you-it was just my experience.
Avatar n tn I have taken paxil CR 12.5 for 6 years. I am preparing myself to become a mom. I am very afraid from suffering the horrible withdrawls if I quit paxil. My doctor says that it's better to be on prozac during pregnancy. Can someone tell me where to find acurate research? I don't want to harm my baby but at the same I am super afraid of the withdrawls.
Avatar m tn If you take the Paxil earlier in the day, you can try taking magnesium before bedtime, and see if that helps, but you can't take magnesium at the same time because they will block one another from being absorbed. As for your diet, not a terrible idea, because Paxil can be a real big weight gainer! Personally, I'd try a different drug, because Paxil is so difficult to take and stop taking, but you're already on it and would have to taper off it very slowly. Bummer for you.
Avatar m tn 5 3 weeks ago and have increased each week by 12.5 to where I am currently at now on Paxil CR 37.5. Should the dose increase work? Has anybody had success with this? My psych stated that I have to be on the medication for a month or more to start feeling the full effects. If I just started 37.5 last week, does that mean I should expect to see something in 4 to 5 more weeks? Just looking for some answers. I'm frustrated and with the medicine change I felt like it just set myself back.
Avatar m tn had set in with Paxil CR. I was on Paxil CR 25mg and now it looks like once I get the last bit of Lexapro 5mg out of my system I will probably be bumped up to Paxil CR 37.5. My question is, what constitutes a "poop out"? I hear that term a lot and really don't know what it means. Does that mean that when trying to go up in a dose it still didn't help?
730044 tn?1231438020 the depression i feel from gaining so much weight or the reasons i started taking paxil in the first place. once i am off of paxil i will never tak it again. i am weening myself slowly.
1512520 tn?1290258130 Well have gone to the doc and he has given me a 50 mg 2x daily of Topamax to take with the Paxil CR. I am going to take just the Topamax for a month or so hoping to drop some of the weight gained then start back on the Paxil CR. I will continue to update as I know there are others out there who are in the same boat! p.s. its quiet expensive if you dont have insurance coverage and from other posts the generic versions arent the same.
Avatar m tn Im confused. I have been on SSRI's (Paxil & Paxil CR) in the past and they worked and I have come off on several occations, but currently I tried to swith to another SSRI which didn't work. Now I have been switched back to Paxil CR and I am currently on a new high of 37.5 milligrams for a week and a half and still don't feel that great. Is it usual to have a set back at every dose increase before it gets better?
Avatar f tn In addition, I gained so much weight due to the medicine. My doctor helped me get off of the paxil which was a horrible experience that I never want to repeat again! Now my anxiety has come back and it is becoming worse. I tried lexapro and it didn't help. Before paxil I tried zoloft and it made my anxiety intensify. My doctor is basically leaving it up to me as to what I want to take for my anxiety. I need help as to the best anxiety medicine to take that won't make my symtoms worse.
Avatar n tn I can tell you from going onto Zoloft twice that the first week *****. The second week gets a little better and by the end of the third week you feel better. Granted everyone is different and will react differently. But,for your piece of mind, yes, what you are feeling is normal but if it doesn't go away after a week or two, you need to talk to your doctor. Also, everything I heard and was told about zoloft is that you should not increase more than 50mg in 1 week intervals.
Avatar f tn I have taken 12.5 mg of Paxil cr for almost a year. I am not liking it or feeling better. My doc just switched me today from that to 5 mg of lexapro for two weeks then up to 10 mg of it. Said I can just switch cold turkey. I have read mostly people being tapered off slowly to switch. Has anyone here successfully switched immediately or should I wean somehow??
Avatar f tn org now defunked , it was set up to help people on Effexor but the only posts they got was how the hell do we get off it.i am still a friend with the owner of the dead site to this day. PAXIL is an ssri so can be tapered to another , its the hardest to taper but its not that bad , get slowly on another SSRI and taper a easier one SIMPLE.
Avatar f tn Why tell US about your fear of the side effects of the Paxil and NOT your prescribing doc? He is the ONLY one who can change you to something that either won't make you ralph or give you something to take with the Paxil to help with the nausea. I say get on the phone with him as soon as possible and let him know about this. The longer you put it off is another day you have to feel this way.............. Let us know how you're doing, OK?
Avatar f tn I have been weaning off Paxil from Paxil CR 25 mg, now on Paxil 10 mg (to avoid withdrawal) because I have been on for probably 10 years now. Unfortunately, after about 3 weeks on the lower dose I feel my lack of motivation, melancholy feelings, being less able to handle frustration with work etc all coming back. I really do not want to go back up on my dose of Paxil since it has such severe withdrawal effects if I ever go off it again.
Avatar f tn ok good to know, i think im gonna try the increase of the paxil for a few days first before i take that propanolol
Avatar f tn Thank you so much! I have my meds now just didn't understand why didn't get that sooner as it's been a few months since i dosed down.
Avatar n tn I have been on and off Paxil for 5 years now. I started on CR low dose, now at 30mg no cr. My body is used to it... and it doesnt help me very much anymore-although it is better than being with out any medication at all. Soon I will be getting re-evaluated and I know they're going to ask me to wean off it. I am really scared, because I know the few times I have lapsed in dose, it has been absolutely horrible. Any advice? Any info? Everything I find online is abstract and not really helpful.
Avatar f tn About a week later, we got a phone call from the physician, in the evening after hours, with the orders to STOP! the Paxil immediately. Apparently, Paxil greatly negates the benefits of the Tamoxifen. My wife had been taking the two for nearly a year into the five year treatment program. The oncologist prescribed an SNRI called Venlafaxine (Effexor). This did not have the interaction that Paxil, a SSRI had with the breast cancer drug.
