248167 tn?1220363690 Strained muscles and sprained ligaments are among the most common causes of left upper back pain. This usually occurs when excessive pressure, often from exercising too much, causes the tissue to stretch too much or excessively, causing them to become damaged or torn. Pulled muscular tissue and pinched nerves are other possibilities. Take some over the counter anti-inflammatory painkiller like ibuprofen. Hot compressions, and topical muscle relaxants are also helpful.

Avatar f tn So like once a night I get sharp stabbing pain that wakes me up right in-between my shoulder blades or left blade ? I pop my back and the pain will go away and I can continue to sleep. I have scolosis and had back surgery in 2006 to correct it so I do have a rod and bolts or whatnot:) I tend to pop my back and neck a bit because it makes it feel better. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn Im 36 weeks and was having an annoying upper back pain on my left side .. Has anyone else had this problem ??
Avatar n tn m only 6 weeks I woke up this morning with an awful pain in the left part of my upper back, that kinda sends this fluttery feeling to my ribs. It's fine if I don't move but everytime I get up or turn or lift my arms I'll have a sharp pain that takes my breath away. Should I be worried, an go get it checked or is this pretty common?
Avatar f tn I can feel pain on my upper back with similar signs of Thoracic. Most pain can be felt on left side and armpit. I went to doctor for check-up. I was asked to do some few stretching and checked the appearance of my skin at the back. I was told that most probably wrong posture due to long sitting hours at work. I finished the dosage of Camgesic(Anarex) and Arcoxia (etoricoxib). The pain lessens but it never goes away.

Avatar f tn It's been a month since I felt this back pain in the upper left side of body. Sometimes I was having a hard time breathing and it is painful.
Avatar f tn In about 2003 I was running a marathon and started having upper back pain , just as you described, in that very spot. Long story short...I have a herniated disc @ T-7. This is very unusual from what I understand. It is very painful, every day painful. I am under pain management and it helps some. I have had several rounds of physical therapy to no avail. Have had "nerve burns" and other things with just slight relief. They say surgery is not really an option.

Avatar f tn Hi all I am new to this forum and just wondered if someone else has ever had the same experience as I have. I was diagnosed with herniated/bulging discs back in January. Since then I have tried chiropractor, acupuncture, physical therapy, pain management and most recently epidural. I had the epidural on August 22nd, during the procedure which I was laying stomach down, my left leg involuntarily kicked up and I had excruciating pain in my left leg.
Avatar f tn m only 15 weeks and I had to stop about 3 times because I kept getting this really achy dull pain in my upper back/ribs. Any idea why that's happening and what I can do to help when it does happen ? It seems like every position I tried the pain would not go away.
Avatar n tn As I was waiting to have an atherectomy (rotorooter) on my LAD........the only pain I was having was in my back, a spot just to the right of my left shoulder blade.........a nitro relieved it........since that time I occasionally have a little pain in that spot.......nitro always relieves it........
