In the past few weeks I've been experiencing pain in my upper abdomen that is more intense when I'm sitting. It's also uncomfortable to sleep on my side, I have to make sure to sleep on my back during the night. I'm a healthy 31 yr. old women who had surgery a couple of months ago to remove a cyst from a ovary. Could this be a side effect from the surgery that was months ago?
I have been having a pain in my upper left abdomen on and off for months. Earlier this year, I went to the ER twice becuase I began worrying so much about the pain that it made it seem much worse than it actually was. The pain itself is on my left side underneath my ribcage. When I notice the pain, it's not very severe, maybe 3 out of 10 but it tends to make me worry. I've been to my FP doc numerous times and had blood work done. All of the tests came back negative everytime.
I have been having this pain in my upper left abdomen, under left breast. I've had a mammography, and all is normal. The pain is occasional. Has anyone had this? I'm having a colonscopy in a few days, but I don't think the test goes that far into the abdomen. I have had a colonoscopy 8 years ago and all was fine. If anyone has had this, please let me know.
I am a 25 year old woman who for the past 4 years has had persistent and growing pain in the upper left quadrant of my abdomen. It is an almost constant pain felt more acutely when I sit and most when I lay down at the end of the day. It was relieved significantly during my pregnancy (my daughter is 18 mos now) but returned even more severely soon after I had her.
About a year ago I had a pop in my upper left abdomen with sharp pain, stomach swelled and it was hard to breathe. Pain still comes & goes from time to time as does the stomach swelling. Today while attempting to lay back in bath tub I had a painful pop again, in same area and now it is hard to breath again and I am experiencing constant pain. What is wrong with me????
For the past few months I have woken up to a dull pain in the center of my upper abdomen which would subside after about ten minutes of me getting out of bed for the past couple of weeks the pain is there almost continuous my upper abdomen is swollen my stomach makes loud rumbling noises that goes up in to the left side of my chest area I get sharp pain between my shoulder blades and under my right shoulder blade I also have rib pain directly under both breasts which is a sharp pain when touched
Mostly the pain is in the left upper abdomen. nowadays i can feel the pain around the chest. I did urea breathe test to check for bacteria and there is no bacteria now but still i feel the pain in left upper abdomen which also radiates around my chest. The doctor said that the gastric is still there which is giving this pain. But the pain is continuous. I dont feel the pain only when i lie down flat. I also dont have any prblm while sleeping.
I have been having pain in upper left abdomen ,just below the ribs for a few weeks now that has got really quite severe this past week.It seems to get worse when I eat also if I drink anything with sugar in it.I am worried that it could be my pancreas.Where is the pancreas located and does it correlate with left sided abdominal pain?If not what else could it be I wonder?I feel really ill.Thanks for any helpful advise.
I have had pain in my upper left abdomen for almost 2 months. I had a 3 1/2" cyst on my kidney and they drained it thinking it was the problem. I am still experiencing the same pain. It is isolated and about the size of a silver dollar and felt right beneath my rib and I can also feel it in my back. The urologist said if it wasn't the cyst it must be gastro and did not ask to see me again. The cat scan shows no diverticulitis, and no abnormalties other than the cyst.
Aside from muscular issues, this could also be due to gall bladder stones which usually presents with sudden and rapidly intensifying pain in the upper right portion or center of the abdomen just below the breastbone, back pain between the shoulder blades or pain in the right shoulder. The pain usually lasts for several minutes to a few hours. You may benefit from additional diagnostic tests including imaging studies such as ultrasound or CT scan .Take care and do keep us posted.

I'm a 24 year old guy healthy guy with no serious health problems in past,but from last two days i'm feeling pain in my upper left abdomin.There is no other problem,my appetite is fine,no gas problem is there,no digestion problem and there is no other problem in any other part of my body.
I usually get this pain after have large meal or sometimes it happens for no reason.It goes after sometime if relax a little bit or lie for a while.I don't know what is causing this problem.
ve been experiencing a strange pulsating feeling in my upper abdomen, I have no pain whatsoever, and it happens rarely, still I think it's a bitt strange, because until now I've never noticed it... It's located on the upper left part of the abdomen, right under the ribcage, it's only this pulsating feeling..
Should I worry? Could be gases? Or something more serious?
I am having pain that started 5 days ago in the upper left side just under my ribs that feels more like a knife it goes from severe to moderate the doctor diagnosed me with diverticulosis a cat scan did show I had some diverticula but from what I've been reading the pain is usually in the lower left side not the upper left side I think maybe i have been mis diagnosed.
