Oxymorphone tolerance

Common Questions and Answers about Oxymorphone tolerance

opana

Avatar n tn There is probably some cross tolerance and your doctor applied a 20% cross tolerance factor when converting you from oxycodone to Opana ER. This is to protect you from severe side effects and a potential overdose of the Opana. After switching from one opioid medication to another, most patients require at least one dose titration.
Avatar m tn I have built up a tolerance to oxycodone IR that I have had to take 3 times my dose just to get my pain to get down to a moderate level. The research I have done is that oxymorphone is stronger and less mg. I have several questions. Are taking less mg easier on the body? How do I ask my doctor to switch, I don't want to seem like just another patient trying to get high.
Avatar f tn You use it to convert your fentanyl dosage to an equivalent morphine dose, and then find the equivalent morphine dose to oxymorphone, Generally when converting between opiates, doctors will reduce the new medication strength by a certain percentage to account for incomplete cross tolerance, which is a boost in analgesia you get from rotating from one kind of opiate to another. You can find equal analgesic tables, and apps for calculating equivalent dosing online.
Avatar f tn I was actually dehydrated and could not pee for my UDtest so they took blood and it came back positive for oxymorphone, noroxycodone, and noroxymorphone at low levels but on a zero tolerance test any amount is a positive. Are these items that could be from just taking the oxycodone and my body coverts it to this or is the test flawed.
Avatar f tn Also 15mg's if oxymorphone ER. Morphine 39mgs ER didn't do a Dan think. The oxymorphone us better but far from great. The ixycidibe doesn't work at 5mgs. No I gave not built up a tolerance because I only take the oxycidibe when I need it. What U do is rake 5nfs if oxycodone and 3 or 4 hours later take another tablet. I never double the dose. I think 10mgs is the minimum I should be prescribed. Are any if you in the sane situation as I am. I'm very angry about this!!!
Avatar f tn Was on Tramadol for the past 7 months, up to 400mg a day for severe neck/back injury/pain due to a car accident 8 months ago. My pain management doc gave me this Oxymorphone 5mg. up to 3 times daily yesterday. Doc said try this, but if that doesn't work, its epidural cervical injections and possible surgery. I'm worried about addiction now, w/ all these pills they throw at me.
Avatar f tn I think that combining Xanax with any of them runs the risk of CNS depression (respiratory problems) but it all depends on dosage, tolerance, and how frequently the meds are combined...... but your doctor can help you make this decision...hydromorphone, however (dilaudid) is fairly short-acting and i would not consider it a substitute for methadone, which has a significantly longer half-life...
Avatar m tn not only did i go back to taking hydrocodone but i started taking more. i then moved to oxycodone , about 60-150mg i also take opana(oxymorphone) 40mg ER but i crush and snort them. when i was on here i took apprx. 12 10mg pills a day about 30mg at a time. now when i take 7 10mg pills i dont feel anything. is the increase in my tolerance going to vastly affect the withdrawal process in severity or length?
687729 tn?1397992727 ve tried using Kratom for the pain and it keeps me awake. Can the fast-acting Oxymorphone be cut in half? I did pretty well with the Dilaudid, but it gave me such a rush that I don't want to develop a psychological addiction to it. I've tried cutting the Opana ER in half, but the blade in the cutter won't cut it. Any advice out there? Thanks.
Avatar m tn im on opana er (oxymorphone) 5mg x2 day, neurantin 300mg x3 day, hydrocodone 7.5mg x1 day, ambien 10mg x1 night, synthroid 225mcg x1 night, alegra180 mg x1 day, and benedryl as needed. I have thyroid cancer, a poor diet, drink soda all the time, and am overweight. I tested postive however for oxycodone, which im not taking. i was told by my doctor that the opana would test positive only for oxymorphone, and not oxycode.
981443 tn?1250115802 Endo has been the major distributor of oxymorphone throughout the world and currently markets oxymorphone in the United States and elsewhere as Opana and Opana ER. Opana is available as 5 mg and 10 mg tablets; Opana ER, an extended-release form of oxymorphone, is available as tablets in strengths of 5 mg, 7½ mg, 10 mg, 15 mg, 20 mg, 30 mg, and 40 mg.
Avatar f tn Ever since she got these, I would take them, I started out taking some vicodin here and there, to a full on addiction to the Opana ER, over time of course. My tolerance is so high, I take the same dosage she does daily, which is 4-5 20MG tablets a day. I need them just to feel normal. I have no pain. I dont know how to get off of them. I got off of them once for a month straight, but soon found myself going threw the medicine cabnit again to start this horrible cycle all over again.
Avatar m tn I dont see much about it in these posts but I have been taking oxymorphone(OPANA) for FBS.I have been addicted to Meth cocaine and alcohol in the past but have been free from those chains for 10 years. My disease has resurfaced with this Opana though.I have cut my intake from 20 mg a day to 10 mg a day for the past three days.I have been blessed to avoid the terrible sickness of opiate withdrawl that I went through last year with this **** when I went CT off of it.
Avatar f tn I became dependent pretty quickly and naturally when I found myself experiencing withdrawals I would turn to the pain medication because my migraines became far worse. As my tolerance grew higher I found myself in more pain and experiencing more side effects. Soon my doctor went to prescribing me 8 Opana (oxymorphone) 10 mg a day. This was the beginning of the worst time in my life. I literally am scared out of my mind of running out because I'm frightened I will die...
Avatar f tn Of course, there is cross tolerance but once you get that far up in strength via fentanyl, you are still more than likely going to require larger doses than normal of morphine, oxymorphone, oxycontin, etc. There is also an option to ADD another long acting medication in with the fentanyl. This has been done for other members here that have an extremely high opioid tolerance. So I would just discuss with your doctor the fact that the fentanyl is no longer working.

Avatar f tn I’ve been taking 5mg oxymorphone extended release pills for 8 years. I recently had to switch primary care doctors because mine moved away. The first urine drug test I was asked to do was last Friday and they called today and said the drug didn’t show up in my system, and dropped me as a patient. I should start withdrawals tomorrow & I’m scared out of my mind. I’ve never failed a drug test, asked for an early refill, nothing like that.
Avatar f tn I've just been switched from Fentanyl 25mcg every 48 hrs to Oxymorphone 10mg every 12hrs. I feel way worse (pain) & was wondering if anyone knows what the equivalence is between the 2. I have a feeling I've just been decreased in pain relief. My dr & the pharmacist told me to wait a few days to "feel it's working" & in the meantime I'm in excruciating pain. Can anyone help with what I can do here? Btw...
Avatar f tn I am going through serious withdrawal. I suffer chronic back and hip pain and my doctor can't seem to find the source of the pain. So I started to medicate myself. I started off with oxy 30s. then I started dating a guy who also is in chronic pain and when I would start getting "sick" from not being able to get the 30s he gave he some of his oxymorphone, opana, and I don't want to continue taking his meds anymore.
Avatar f tn Oxycodone is metabolized by the liver into oxymorphone. Oxymorphone is about 2 times stronger than oxycodone based on pharmacology. When I was first switched to Opana, the drowsiness and tiredness were unreal! It was a real struggle for me at first and I also have a desk job. However, the sedation effects only lasted for a month at the most. Now I don't get sedated anymore and in fact I am more alert than I was on Morphine.
5597890 tn?1370629516 Have severe l5-s1degenerative disease, t4-t5 s1 t8 herniations, spondylosis, severe narrowing of lower spine. Never ever took pain killers and I'm 47. For two months I've been on Vicodin,Percocet, didlauted, oxymorphone, valium, Flexeril, soma, Ativan, and none of those provided any relief. I was given fentanyl 25 on the patch for a month and really worked for a bit, but still had to take oxycodone 15 mg for break through. Pain still there.
Avatar f tn The oxycodone in Oxycontin is metabolized by the liver into oxymorphone, and oxymorphone is 2 times stronger than oxycodone. With the Opana ER, I have read that chronic pain patients either love it or hate it. I am one of ones that absolutely love it. Opana ER has provided me the best pain relief I have had in years. I tried the generic oxymorphone and it was not as effective...by a long shot.
Avatar f tn m at a point where I feel like my tolerance levels are getting so high that my medication intake is getting out of hand. I am only 25 years old and imagining the rest of my life on pain medication makes me wonder how bad I'll eventually get, and it's a scary thought. Deep down what I really want is to be rid of this cycle of pain medication, dependence and tolerance as it seems to be only getting worse and worse, and I fear that I don't have as much control over it as I hoped.
