Oxymorphone dosage

Common Questions and Answers about Oxymorphone dosage

opana

Avatar n tn Here is another example, if a patient is taking 10 mg of oxymorphone per day and wants to switch from oxymorphone to oxycodone, the patient would need to be dosed twice the amount of his oxymorphone dosage as mgs of oxycodone (10 mg of oxymorphone = 20 mg of oxycodone). If he is dosed more than 20 mg of oxycodone per day, his new dose in oxycodone is STRONGER than his old dosage in oxymorphone.
Avatar f tn Are you taking your medication on an empty stomach? It's very important that you do this. I'm not sure how these medications compare to each other. I do know that we're all different and can respond to these medications differently. I take it you made the change because the Fentanyl was not working for you? Your Dr could very well be right. It may take a few days for this medication to start working. How many days has it been since you started it?
Avatar f tn Yes, it's called an equal analgesic table. You use it to convert your fentanyl dosage to an equivalent morphine dose, and then find the equivalent morphine dose to oxymorphone, Generally when converting between opiates, doctors will reduce the new medication strength by a certain percentage to account for incomplete cross tolerance, which is a boost in analgesia you get from rotating from one kind of opiate to another.
Avatar f tn Stands to reason that: 2 x 5mg Percocet = 1 x 10mg Oxycontin Don't quote me on that though. I know Percocet has both Oxymorphone AND Acetaminophen in it, and Oxycontin has Oxymorphone only. I'm not certain what the Acetaminophen brings to the table as far as drug-interactions go, but your statement that the Perc and the Oxy are the same (2x5mg vs. 1x10mg) sounds about right. Maybe someone in the Pain-Management Community would know.
Avatar f tn I think that combining Xanax with any of them runs the risk of CNS depression (respiratory problems) but it all depends on dosage, tolerance, and how frequently the meds are combined...... but your doctor can help you make this decision...hydromorphone, however (dilaudid) is fairly short-acting and i would not consider it a substitute for methadone, which has a significantly longer half-life...
687729 tn?1397992727 I am moving to Knoxville from Michigan and I am addicted to Opana ER. There is only one doctor in Knoxville who prescribes narcotics and Opana isn't helping with my chronic pain, anyway (I have had five back surgeries). I tried detoxing by switching to Dilaudid, taking smaller and smaller doses... Then, an injury in Physical Therapy put me back on my full Opana dosage. I've tried using Kratom for the pain and it keeps me awake. Can the fast-acting Oxymorphone be cut in half?
Avatar f tn Hi Krista! I've had severe chronic pain since 1983 and was diagnosed with HCV in 1986 and with cirrhosis in 2004. Before my liver got so bad I used a variety of different pain meds, but have had to be way more careful since 2004. For the last year I've been using Opana (oxymorphone) ER twice daily and a small dose of oxymorphone IR for breakthrough pain. It has worked well for me, contains no acetaminophen, is okay with my hepatologist, and has fewer supply hassles than OxyContin did.
775302 tn?1253100505 Hi everyone, I was recently taken off my usual pain med regimine of 75 micr of Fentanyl Patch every 48 hours and 4 mg hydramorphone ( dilauded) 4-6 times a day.
981443 tn?1250115802 Endo has been the major distributor of oxymorphone throughout the world and currently markets oxymorphone in the United States and elsewhere as Opana and Opana ER. Opana is available as 5 mg and 10 mg tablets; Opana ER, an extended-release form of oxymorphone, is available as tablets in strengths of 5 mg, 7½ mg, 10 mg, 15 mg, 20 mg, 30 mg, and 40 mg.
Avatar m tn I dont see much about it in these posts but I have been taking oxymorphone(OPANA) for FBS.I have been addicted to Meth cocaine and alcohol in the past but have been free from those chains for 10 years. My disease has resurfaced with this Opana though.I have cut my intake from 20 mg a day to 10 mg a day for the past three days.I have been blessed to avoid the terrible sickness of opiate withdrawl that I went through last year with this **** when I went CT off of it.
Avatar n tn Oxycodone is about half as strong as Oxymorphone per mg. So you were talking 60mg of Oxycontin (Oxycodone) and going by a Opioid (Narcotic) analgesic converter you would need 30mg of Opana (Oxymorphone) to get the same pain releif and most likley the same to cover the withdrawl. You are now taking 10mg of Opana where 30mgs is what the converter says you need. You need to talk to your Dr. about dosage and don't take more than your Dr wrote the Opana for until he or she OKs it.
Avatar f tn I have been taking ms contin and oxymorphone (opana) for break through for YEARS. Frankly I'm concerned with the dosage of ma contin my pm doc has me on. I am not getting the pain relief I used to and even ibuprophen works better at times. I have been curious about Dilaudid or hydromorphone because my mother takes it but am too afraid to ask my doc.
Avatar f tn I was actually dehydrated and could not pee for my UDtest so they took blood and it came back positive for oxymorphone, noroxycodone, and noroxymorphone at low levels but on a zero tolerance test any amount is a positive. Are these items that could be from just taking the oxycodone and my body coverts it to this or is the test flawed.
Avatar f tn I’ve been taking 5mg oxymorphone extended release pills for 8 years. I recently had to switch primary care doctors because mine moved away. The first urine drug test I was asked to do was last Friday and they called today and said the drug didn’t show up in my system, and dropped me as a patient. I should start withdrawals tomorrow & I’m scared out of my mind. I’ve never failed a drug test, asked for an early refill, nothing like that.
Avatar m tn I have built up a tolerance to oxycodone IR that I have had to take 3 times my dose just to get my pain to get down to a moderate level. The research I have done is that oxymorphone is stronger and less mg. I have several questions. Are taking less mg easier on the body? How do I ask my doctor to switch, I don't want to seem like just another patient trying to get high.
Avatar f tn Ever since she got these, I would take them, I started out taking some vicodin here and there, to a full on addiction to the Opana ER, over time of course. My tolerance is so high, I take the same dosage she does daily, which is 4-5 20MG tablets a day. I need them just to feel normal. I have no pain. I dont know how to get off of them. I got off of them once for a month straight, but soon found myself going threw the medicine cabnit again to start this horrible cycle all over again.
Avatar f tn I am going through serious withdrawal. I suffer chronic back and hip pain and my doctor can't seem to find the source of the pain. So I started to medicate myself. I started off with oxy 30s. then I started dating a guy who also is in chronic pain and when I would start getting "sick" from not being able to get the 30s he gave he some of his oxymorphone, opana, and I don't want to continue taking his meds anymore.
Avatar f tn Oxycodone is metabolized by the liver into oxymorphone. Oxymorphone is about 2 times stronger than oxycodone based on pharmacology. When I was first switched to Opana, the drowsiness and tiredness were unreal! It was a real struggle for me at first and I also have a desk job. However, the sedation effects only lasted for a month at the most. Now I don't get sedated anymore and in fact I am more alert than I was on Morphine.
Avatar f tn Was on Tramadol for the past 7 months, up to 400mg a day for severe neck/back injury/pain due to a car accident 8 months ago. My pain management doc gave me this Oxymorphone 5mg. up to 3 times daily yesterday. Doc said try this, but if that doesn't work, its epidural cervical injections and possible surgery. I'm worried about addiction now, w/ all these pills they throw at me.
Avatar f tn will it show up if being tested for opioids or just synthetic opioids? i came up positive on a drug screen for oxymorphone and i was perscribed to percocet.. can u please explain?
Avatar f tn Did they check off oxymorphone (opana) or morphine on the lab slip? Oxymorphone (Opana) is a semi-synthetic opioid, unlike morphine which is an opiate. If there was an error is the test request, that could explain the false negative. Btw, Opana is available in generic form- oxymorphone hcl ER by globabal pharmaceuticals. I know because I take it currently.
Avatar n tn have been clean for months I have been taking suboxon 2mg twice a day and an antidepresent every day I see my doctor once a week and drop urine every time on the initial test I have been clean but when it comes up on the computer he says that i have oxymorphone in my system, this just cant be what could cause this.
Avatar n tn It is very true that wen testing for Oxycodone that it can come up positive for Morphine or Oxymorphone. Doctors often do not understand how to read the tests. The article I found proving that is www.jenniferschneider.com/articles/Conv_of_Oxycodone_7_20_7.html It is a great article that explains why Oxycodone is often read as Morphine.
