Oxycodone and migraines

Common Questions and Answers about Oxycodone and migraines

oxycontin

Avatar n tn mmediate-release oxycodone has not been formally assigned to a pregnancy category by the FDA. Some combination products that contain oxycodone (such as Percocet and Tylox) are assigned to pregnancy category C. Controlled-release oxycodone has been assigned to pregnancy category B. Use of narcotic analgesics in late pregnancy is associated with the risk of neonatal withdrawal. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I used to be prescribed for terrible migraines and back pains I've had since my high school years. I know what works for me and what doesn't. Every time I tell my dr he doesn't care or listen about how much I hurt. He has even ignored me going into the emergency room when I had started bleeding at one point due to soft cervix.. I live in Illinois and have since only taken 2 the past week I have tried stopping.
Avatar f tn I'm 8 wks PG and have started having bad headaches and migraines. Tylenol isn't working so the Dr. prescribed percocet. I'm a little hesistant to take it but figure my Dr. wouldn't prescribe it if it wasn't safe. Has anyone else had this prescribed to them for pain? Did you have any side effects while taking it? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I am due any day now and take 30mg, how likely is it that my baby will experience withdrawals? Particularly severe withdrawals? I've heard so many mixed reviews...
4730743 tn?1358469813 You said that the oxycodone was '4x a day for breakthrough pain'...this means 'as needed, up to 4x daily', correct? Have you been taking 4 a day, everyday?
Avatar m tn Let me amplify that oxycodone will not help with tendon type pain. I have two tears, one in the shoulder and one in the hip socket, and oxycodone 5mg won't do a thing for it. I'm glad to hear it helps your migraines but keep in mind it's only masking the pain. If you search in this migraine forum you'll find some comments I made that should help you narrow down which components of the weather are more responsible for your migraines.
Avatar f tn This time I have been taking the prescribed Oxycodones before getting pregnant and now during (about 4 weeks along). From what my doctor has said and what I have read, Oxycodone has a higher molecular weight and doesn't cross the placenta, and it doesn't affect growth or development...what it DOES do is cause addiction if used in high doses near labor. What is "high dose"?
1395709 tn?1280427381 I am 23 years old I have been on oxycodone 5mg for 3 years for severe migraines. Don't get me wrong this drug helps me a great deal to deal with the pain the migraine causes, but 1.5 years ago I got into a serious accident and injured my leg, the doctor jumped me to 80mg of oxtcontin a day I was on it for a month. I did come off of it....for a very short amount of time.
Avatar n tn Besides the vision problems I am experiencing a watery right eye, sore neck, diarrhea, runny/stuffy nose, and nausea all at different times throughout the day. My doctor gave me some oxycodone at first to treat the headaches and then went on to give me imitrex and a z-pack for the cold symptoms. It has been about 11 days since my first bad headache and last night I took my first imitrex because I felt another bad headache coming on.
Avatar f tn You are taking 20 mg of hydrocodone per day--- a low dose of narcotic. To put it in perspective, oxycodone is 50% to 100% stronger, and a typical addict who comes to my office for help is taking 100-300 mg of oxycodone per day-- sometimes over 500 mg. So I would expect your withdrawal to be relatively mild. BUT-- everyone hates opioid withdrawal, and even mild withdrawal is miserable.

Bad thing for me, couldn't wean down because if the adverse reaction which seems to have made my w/d longer resulting in fatigue, insomnia, horrendous migraines, restlessness, fever, nausea, and stage 4 - terminal RLS. Have decided to cut off my legs, but am now sure best way to do so. I am thinking maybe a circular saw, but fear that might leave me with soreness.

I was hospitalized last September for seven days with a migraine and basically comatose before they could get rid of it... Have they tried toradol yet? that might help at home...
Avatar n tn I am getting very close to my wit's end in my pain management issues. I will attempt to list everything I've tried and then ask some questions that I hope someone that has the same issue(s) will be able to answer. I do understand that because this is a medical related issue, any responses will be regarded as such and I will see a doctor regarding any suggestions that may be presented to me. I will start with some background and then present what the issue(s) are.
Avatar f tn I have been through so much....gosh where to begin. I started taking the oxycodone regularly when I was pregnant because I suffer migraines and headaches-tension/stress. ANd as you know, couldn't take imitrex, Topamax as a preventative, Maxalt, etc. And the headaches were SO bad. I can't even explain them. I'd had them for years before, but to not be able to take anything for them was torture. I'd be in bed crying.
1868815 tn?1412541757 I had to do steriods IV for three days. When they gave me prenidsone to take at home and end up getting migraines. With the migraines it put more pressure on my eyes and I start loosing eyesight again. I did not do another treatment because doctor was trying to control the mirgraines. I took different types of pain meds. Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, Flexril, and then some.
Avatar f tn I also have a reoocurring rash peticiea i think it is because it is blood spots and at times it is purpura the migraines are the worst but the tmj man i am worried now
612876 tn?1355514495 I take liquid oxycodone through my feeding tube for pain management of neuropathic and GI pain. I also have rescue meds for migraines but I've gone off my preventative meds, Topamax and Gabapentin, as my husband and I were trying to conceive. I really would like to stay off the neuroleptics for a bit longer, but I'm concerned that I'm becoming overly tolerant of the oxycodone.
Avatar m tn My question is - I was on suboxone for the pain and it did not work. So I have a new doc appt next week, and am certain he will give me oxycodone. Should I go to a different pharmacy? I thought there is a central database where any can see that I just got subs filled last month. I plan on telling my new doc that I even tried them for pain. I don't want to get into trouble. It's been a long, rocky road with sciatic nerve pain, chronic back pain, and fibromyalgia.
Avatar f tn Knows your pregnant. I had to be on pain meds (oxycodone) during my pregnancy and because we tapered it down at the end and I got off completely a day or so before he was born he didn't have any problems.
Avatar n tn Yes pain pills cause pain. It will NOT increase your pain but let's say you have migraine with aura "intractable" and all of a sudden now you have back pain, well it's from the Oxycodone and my doctor agrees. However the back pain is annoying and painful but its kitty snacks compared to the migraine pain that make you not want to live. I try to take monthly breaks, because I hate becoming dependent on anything and after just 1 week I notice addiction and dependence kicking in.
Avatar m tn My wife and I have been married for a year and a half but have been friends for over 20 years. She has chronic migraines and is in pain every day of the year. She takes a long list of meds and sees every doctor out there. She has also been to the Mayo clinic for many years. My question or cry for help is, Is it normal for her to find comfort with her dog and cell phone games than with her own kids(step) and husband?
Avatar f tn A few yrs ago i was on Oxycontin for 2yrs for severe migraines. My Drs nurse would give me a hard time on refills. He was away for 2 weeks and i needed a refill she gave me a 3 day supply of Pericet. I ended up in the ER 2 days later almost dead. i did not sue. but i could have.
Avatar f tn I have had migraines for the past 20 years as a result of pregnancy and have slowly increased my use from occasional to everyday. I take 8 panadeine extra (500mg paracetamol/acetaminophen w/ 15mg codeine) everyday. I have been prescribed panadeine forte (30mg codeine) in the past but have weaned myself off of those through using the lower dose panadeine extra. I would like to go ct off of the panadeine extra but I am scared of wd.

Avatar f tn I had my gallbladder removed Wednesday and have been on Oxycodone since Wednesday night. For some reason it started affecting my sleep yesterday. I tried laying down for a nap but could not sleep. I slept an hour or two last night. When I try to go to sleep my thoughts start racing and I just cant sleep. I really could use some sleep. Help.
