As the other poster said, larger ovarian cysts can cause urinary urgency. So can large uterine fibroids. Most cysts go away on their own within 2 or 3 cycles so I would not worry much unless your symptoms worsen especially if you start having pain which could be a sign of the cyst rupturing, leaking, or twisting the ovary. Since most cysts resolve on there own, there should not be any impact on fertility.

Since you have already ruled out issues of the colon, other causes that need to be kept in mind are pelvic infection or adhesion formation secondary to any previous surgery or infection and bladder issues. The ovarian cysts are not very large and may not be the reason for the pain. If no other cause is found after investigations then removal of the ovaries can be considered. You can take a second opinion from another gynaecologist and a surgeon. Hope this helps.

An ovarian cyst is not an infection, so don't worry that it will somehow spread. Losing one ovary does not affect the other, except that the other will now ovulate every month (instead of every other month) to fill in for the missing ovary.

I am 24, I have recurring ovarian cysts. In 2005 I had a 3 1/2 inch cyst removed off my right ovary by the c-section method. They saved the ovary but now I am having the same problems. I went to the ER and had a CT scan done on my abdomin. The doctor noted that the CT Scan showed bilateral cysts on both ovaries. Both times I have suffered from cysts I was on birth control. Should I be worried about PCOS? I have an appointment with my primary doctor tomorrow to discuss my options as they are now.
