Avatar f tn If you get cysts the way you do and they rupture when you get your period, they're probably just functional cysts and wouldn't cause infection when they rupture. Your doctor probably knows this and isn't worried for that reason. Try asking him if he thinks there might be any damage and see what he says. There is more concern when a complex cyst ruptures for fear of it's contents causing infection on other organs.
Avatar f tn Sometimes they just rupture on there own it can be pretty painful and other times they may need to be surgically removed.

Some types of cysts can be treated with birth control. If the pain gets worse or you get a fever go to the ER. My motto is "Better safe, then sorry.
1284894 tn?1272171454 Also can cysts leak? Meaning can they slowing release fluid and/or blood, whatever is inside them or would they more likely just 'burst' and spill out all their contents? I would like to hear from anyone who has experienced a ruptures ovary cyst and your story and symptoms please. I currently have a 6x4 cm mass on the left side. Possibly on or in the ovary but my Gyno isn't 100% sure that it is ovarian, there is a chance that it may be related to the bowel.

1473788 tn?1286975127 I am 23 years old and I have had so many ovarian cysts rupture that I have lost count! It's affecting my life dramatically. I have a cyst rupture every few months. I was put on birth control to regulate the growth but I have 2 different types of cysts and the larger ones that my fallopian tubes wrap around aren't controlled by the medication. When I was 16 I was having pelvic discomfort and my abdomen was distended. I looked about 6 months pregnant.
Avatar f tn I do not think menstrual clotting is an indication of a rupture. Cysts are outside the uterus (if they are true ovarian cysts), and ruptured ones would not show up in menstruation.
1295419 tn?1276822872 In the last 8 weeks I have had 3 ovarian cysts rupture. The first two were shortly before my period started and caused intense pain which landed me in the ER. The last was yesterday, which was also painful and a trip to the ER. I haven't started my period yet but I assume I will soon. I had one other ovarian cyst rupture in my lifetime which was about 6 months after going off birth control and 6 months before getting pregnant. I have so many of the PCOS symptoms.
Avatar f tn Symptoms are not always present and they don't necessarily affect your fertility, honey. It all depends on the severity of the case and whether you have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, which it doesn't seem you have. If they ruptured on their own, that's normal and it's good. They must have been simple fluid filled cysts. Women get them quite often and they rupture with your cycles. Don't worry too much about it. Most are benign even if they get bigger and require surgery.

Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts are no big deal! They can hurt if when they rupture but do not harm you in any way or a pregnancy. Have you thought about adoption? Don't worry about the cysts for surgery but be sure that is what you want. You said you ahve had an abortion before. Having another one can cause great health risks to you! It causes scar tissue and is not like a DNC!

Avatar n tn I am not sexually active, but I do have a few questions concerning my period with ovarian cysts. Usually my periods are normal when I have ruptures, and I had a rupture 2 weeks ago on Thursday. I've been lightly cramping in my right ovary since. My last menstural cycle started on the 16th of last month, and I'm usually always 28-29 days apart. No period yet. I'm cramping like crazy and eating until I can't eat anymore. Any advice?
Avatar f tn I finally got into a gynecologist and they said we were going to wait and see. I just had an ultrasound done and it's the same size it was three months ago. I'm now feeling pain when I put pressure on it, when I laugh. I'm using the bathroom more frequently than before. And the damn weight gain... Any suggestions?

Avatar f tn Hi everyone, so I'm pretty sure I get cysts when I ovulate. I've had a cyst rupture at ovulation time before and what I'm wondering is if this is the reason I am having trouble getting pregnant?? The month after the cyst ruptured I did end up pregnant but miscarried at about 4 weeks, that was in May this year and I had been ttc for 11 months before that and now again since the miscarriage. the only time i get the cysts or cyst is at ovulation.
Avatar f tn Hello Yvonne, I have been to the specialist today and they have informed me that they are dermoid cysts. They are 10cm and 11cm and because of my age and not having any children they want to operate as soon as possible. Apparently it's quite rare to have them on both at the same time. They said they will try and save the ovaries but it is unlikely.
Avatar n tn An hour later I was fine again and the pain was gone! They put a rush on the results of the ultrasound and they showed a cyst of 4.5 cm on my left ovary. My doctor says the cyst ruptured yesterday and that this caused the pain. She was very vague when I asked if this poses a problem with my fertility, she said it may or may not. I can't find any information online.
1148191 tn?1271817646 I ovulated around the 1st of March, for a week after that I had dull cramping in my left side and than 7 days later i started getting what felt like period cramps. I went to the doctors and come to find out I have a cyst on my ovary, my question is I still think I might be pregnant, just how common are ovarian cysts in early pregnancy and is it possible that if I'm having pregnancy symptoms that I could still be pregnant.
Avatar f tn They develop I start to feel them and by that time its too late and they rupture that night. I have had a total of 7 cyst rupture so far like I said every single month. I was on Mirena for a year and a half then started developing these cyst so in Jan of 2010 I had the Mirena removed and was put on the Nuvra ring, but that doesnt seem to help either. Has any one else had this same problem?
Avatar f tn I was in the process of monitoring my fertility cycles, and the radiologist told me I had just suffered an ovarian cyst rupture. They noted the free fluid in the spaces, and they followed up by asking me if I was having excruciating pains a few days before the ultrasound. I was shocked, because I thought it was just my typical ovulation pains but to the extreme. I had no idea that the excessive pain was because of the rupture. Now I know.
Avatar f tn I unfortunately have recurring cysts but have had enough to know when they rupture and what to do. As far as the insurance thing goes I didn't have insurance for years either but I found a doctor who will see me on a sliding scale. In other words they base my payment on my income (which is currently unemployment). Just a suggestion. Or maybe you can also find what's called a physician's directory to find a doctor that will take you on little or no payment!
