Everything serious has been ruled out but no one at my local hospital would treat me and I was shunted around the hospital until I lost my temper and said I was leaving with force if need be !

My legs are sore to touch, as well as other muscles in my body. Sometimes my muscles have little pricky movements in them ( which can occur anywhere in the body). I've also been diagnosed with severe carpal tunnel, more severe in the right hand. I live in pain 24/7.

Avatar m tn I'm not all too familiar with arthritis, but if I were in your shoes, especially with a family history of arthritis, I would focus on the right diet and supplements to help joint health. Vitamin D is really key, too, for bone and joint health. Most are deficient and doctors here in Canada are recommending everyone take 1000 IU supplement a day. Best of luck and these days, I think a lot of doctors aren't generally into preventative medicine.

Avatar m tn At our age (I'm 66), we can expect degeneration of joints and minor osteoarthritis -- it is unavoidable. Proper preventative care can help manage this condition. Incidentally, a longitudinal medical study have shown no benefit of glucosamine/condroitin supplements in degenerative knee disease. I'd be skeptical of its use for any problem. MSM is another panacea that has demonstrated little effect when tested in a double-blind study.
Avatar f tn I don' t know if you are ready for a major change in your diet but there are also several books and a DVD that talks about how a non fat plant based diet can help many problems. There have been many studies on this not just a fad diet and it is not a temporary diet. I can't guarantee that it will work but it sounds like it is good for not just lowering your weight and cholesterol (which has for us) but also for inflammatory diseases. It may be worth a try.
Avatar f tn It is an insulin sensitizer. Low carb / ketogenic diet combined with metformin can be a great help in managing diabetes. How is your Hba1c? Normal is ideally close to 5.0, but at least try to get lower than 6.0. If your hba1c is high then there can be many complications. Thus getting your blood sugar to normal levels should be first priority. Telmisaran is a drug for high blood pressure. is your BP high? Losing weight and exercise (again low carb / keto diet), may help with this.
