Avatar f tn Best thing is to keep active, if you can. Hopefully the ortho will help, and a rheumatologist, like I have seen, will help you cope with the arthritis.
Avatar f tn I need to lose 80 lbs. and have osteoarthritis. I've been on a low carb diet twice and both times the arthritis has flared and become quite painful. I think it's an excess of protein. How else can I lose weight? I can't stand being hungry and have good weight loss results with low carb. Help please!
Avatar m tn When there's insufficient saturated fat it is forced to utilize more glucose (a very taxing process to the body) with the help of enzyme CD36 if readily available in sufficient quantity. Coconut Oil takes the place of the saturated fats and acts as high octane fuel for the heart. It is anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-microbial and anti-parasitic. More info@ the coconut research centre website.

Avatar f tn I recently was hospitalised with hemiplegic migraine and osteoarthritis in my spine. I had 4 lumbar punctures which made me almost paralysed but I had no headaches, only leg pains. Everything serious has been ruled out but no one at my local hospital would treat me and I was shunted around the hospital until I lost my temper and said I was leaving with force if need be !
Avatar f tn I've noticed a big difference in the osteoarthritis (maybe that's why I want off the hydro) and now I'm wondering if I can do anything else to help. Does acupuncture help? I've thought about it but wanted to know if anyone else has done this for pain management. I take SAM-e in the morning and afternoon w/ a super complex B. I also take kava kava which has been a godsend in the evenings and what I'm dealing w/ now w/ the withdrawal. I don't want to take any prescriptions from a doctor.

Avatar f tn i've had ideopathic gastroparesis for a year now and have been unable to find any help on what i should or should not eat to prevent or minimize symptoms. one suggestion was a low-fiber diet but the dietician i was referred to was completely unable to tell me exactly what that was. another suggestion was o soft diet. does that mean just eat anything and grind it up like babyfood or is it foods that become soft or are soft naturally such as jello & ice cream?
Avatar f tn What ***** about this, though, is that I have been eating a low carb diet. That should help this issue. What I would like to know how a person can have Hirsutism as bad as I do and still test within the "normal" of TSH. Protocol says that doctors never deviate from this and test the other thyroid tests if the TSH is "normal". They simply won't do the other tests. I can't pay out-of-pocket for these tests myself.

1619005 tn?1298868460 Apparently this is in the treatment for PMR. I am trying to figure out a diet/treatment plan that will help with all these conditions. I am trying to get in to see my doctor to get a referral for a rheumatologist to hopefully get all this figured out. My job requires physical labor - it's incredibly frustrating to have these attacks and not be able to work, or to have to work anyway and be in constant pain. Or drop things because my arms aren't working. Causes for PMR? Diet? Meds?

230948 tn?1235847929 I have never tried an elimination diet to help. But burning, pain that moves around the body is typical. I also have itchy/crawly sensations under my skin, that I itch until I leave raw marks. The problem with diagnosing fibro, is that it mimics other conditions also. I recently had a herniated disc removed and my neck fused. I have degenerative osteoarthritis, and type 2 diabetes, and carpal tunnel syndrome in both wrists. I have a lot of shoulder and hip pain.

Avatar f tn I have very bad osteoarthritis in my hands at the base of the thumbs. I had a joint replacement in the left one that didn't work and has left me worse off. I have found that for my hip, knees and back, that swimming or an elliptical machine helps, as does diet. I am in pain management and at times use narcotics for the pain. I always use ibuprofen. Nothing really takes all the pain away but it can take the edge off.
Avatar n tn Good diabetes control is also very important and swimming along with diet control and medication can help you a lot. Please talk to your doctor. Take care! Avatar n tn I underwent cheilectomy of the right great toe for hallux rigidus (osteoarthritis of the big toe). Things were improving quickly until day 7 when I developed cellulitis (skin infection) at and around the suture site on dorsum (top) of foot. Was treated with IV Ancef and Cipro, with good response. I was sent home after one day (on oral antibiotics) with no weight bearing.
Avatar n tn I know you asked this question a while ago but it could have been dermatitis. I have contact dermatitis from paper and it causes red itchy bumps on the palms of my hands. I also lose my fingerprints and get itchy bumps on the tips and sides of my fingers. I use an emollient cream at night and throughout the day to protect my hands. Myabe this info is better late than never.
1218579 tn?1267642416 If you are a heavy person go on a diet, and strenthen your core, that will help. I was a heavy smoker at one time. Take care of yourself and buff up so maybe you may not need any surgury in the future-you still have a chance not to.

Avatar f tn osteoarthritis, osteoarthrosis or osteochondrosis. Did you have any fracture? Check your calcium levels and if required take supplements and have a healthy balanced diet. You would need lifestyle changes to limit the degenerative disk disease. Follow proper ergonomics. Consult an orthopedician and follow up. Take care!
527589 tn?1301681778 Also during this time I had various episodes of joint pain; aching left knee(mild osteoarthritis), sticking/painful left hip(m/o w/spurs), right elbow and wrist pain(m/o), very low back pain(mild stenosis, m/o), sometimes sever neck pain and stiffness where I couldn't turn my head(m/o, spurs, mild sten). None of the bone aches happened at the same time and lasted 2-7 days each. Occassionaly I would have left side mid back burning and pain. Something always hurt.
Avatar f tn I asked the vet what I can do to keep him out of pain, and he said to keep him on the diet, and I must get help for him ASAP, or as 2 weeks go by, he will be infected in the mouth and die. One week has gone by, I have been researching where to get help and financial aid for people on disability with pets who need surgery. I was only able to find a few, which are across the country from me, or else they didn't have any funding to help me out.

981885 tn?1248588722 I've had many x-rays and taken plenty of medication to try and help and have had no relief. I have been putting up with this pain on and off for a year now and now it is spreading to my shoulders, back, knees and ankles but the pain is most dominate and painful in my ribs. Only one doctor said that it could be Fibromyalgia but he basically said that the pain will come and go for the rest of my life and I will have to learn to deal with it.
1693900 tn?1306296819 Rheumatologist throws Cymbalta at me and now on that. Meloxicam didn't help, Tramadol doesn't help. One day I take Tramadol with .5 Ativan and my pain was relieved. I sleep on my sides, it feels like a tight wide rubber band holding my fingers and hand/joint pain during day like I punched someone and it's the next day. Wrists when squeezed shift/crack. Tonight pointer finger numb and shoulder burning again. HELP. Could this be Rheumatoid? Shoulder injury pressing on nerve?
Avatar f tn somewhere out there needs to know what is going on with me. This is not in my head. I am not seeking drugs.. I am seeking help and answers... and I am not seeking attention. I am just sick of feeling sick.. tired of feeling tired. .. and hoping to be normal again. Even if in the end it is a coroner.. someone tell my family what happened to me. Some of my list may mean nothing.. but you never know.. so I am including it all. Migraine headaches. started in High school but only occasional.
Avatar n tn We tried going to a rhematologist who said he might have osteoarthritis but did not disable him or do anything, just said to take this drug and that drug. His pain is so bad today sometimes he can not get off of the couch, and sometimes cant move his fingers. We suspect it might be related to fibromyalgia that has developed, and he also has symptoms of gout. The digestive issues, he can not eat anything without having diarrhea.
