osteoarthritis

Avatar f tn I've had mri's of my spine and shows osteoarthritis with bone spurs in cervical thoracic and lumbar. This was done in 2007 (i was 35), now i have this horrible tendonitis in both wrists and i'm on prednisone. Could this be related to the arthritis? i'm seeing an ortho but he doesn't know about the osteoarthritis (i was just rereading my reports and it jumped out at me). What should i expect with this diagnosis?
Avatar f tn one suggestion was a low-fiber diet but the dietician i was referred to was completely unable to tell me exactly what that was. another suggestion was o soft diet. does that mean just eat anything and grind it up like babyfood or is it foods that become soft or are soft naturally such as jello & ice cream? where can i find an actual diet to follow?!!! i'm sick & tired of being sick & tired.
1459410 tn?1285695005 I have taken ibuprofen for weeks at a time in the past for the osteoarthritis in my jaws. I try to take it sparingly for it now. But I get frequent heartburn and was recently put on cytotec generic, which is supposed to help with stomach lining. I have tried acupuncture, which I thought helped some, herbal heat pack, ice, valium, ibuprofen and wear a flat-planed splint for my jaw osteoarthritis.
Avatar m tn osteoarthritis is a degenerative condition. It is caused by the breakdown of cartilage and is often associated with aging. It can be assisted along the way by injuries. There is no cure for osteoarthritis. Treatments include NSAIDs and pain management, maintaining a normal weight and exercise.
Avatar f tn I have had mild osteoarthritis in my right hand, of and on. Now I have knee pain, both knees, elbow pain, foot pain (orthotics (4 diff pairs) haven't helped). Not severe enough to take meds. Have been sleeping on a magnetic mat for 3 years. Doesn't seem to help. Have been going to osteopath, masseur, acupuncturist, nutritionist (treating inflammation). No real relief. Other issue (related?) is poor blood circulation (circulatory disorder). Not overweight (120lbs at 5'4.

Avatar n tn I am afraid that I have developed osteoarthritis in my hands, esp. in the thumb joint. I experience pain up to 5 on 1/10 scale, but not swelling. After I ride my bike my hands hurt for several days, maybe the handlebar is too big around. The symptoms developed shortly after I broke my wrist (Collies fracture) two years ago. I realize that if I have this problem it isn't going away. How do I keep the damage to a miminim? I use Ibuprofen for pain with fair results.
513154 tn?1340225289 I have a question about Osteoarthritis and the pain that comes with it. Last November I had 5, 6, and 7 upper vertebra fused together and feel so much better in that way BUT i can't take anti inflammatory medications for my Osteoarthritis, Tylenol doesn't even help a bit and non of the arthritis over the counter meds help either. My question is... is there a non narcotic pain medication that I can take every day? I am 45 years old and very healthy besides my arthritis. thank you!

Avatar f tn I have Osteoarthritis and it is getting worse. I taken Celebrex, Norco, Tramadol and Vicopren. None of these are working. I don't have insurance and go to a public health clinic. They don't seem to know what to do. Could you please advise me on what I can take that will help with the chronic pain and will be inexpensive.
Avatar m tn i was also wondering about the osteoarthritis as my dr told me that i have severe degenerative osteoarthritis of the lower spine (I forgot the numbers), hips, left shoulder and both feet. I had major surgery last summer and mesh was used to attach part of my bowel to my spine. My dr figures that this may have jump-started the arthritis issues. Currently i have probs walking, bending and overall it hurts to be on my feet for more than 20 mins at a time.
Avatar m tn / I knew my condition was bad b/c of the amount of pain I am in but wasn't expecting that especially @ 32 with a 4 yr old and 7 month old!! Anyways, he adviced pain meds and synvisc-one injections until we couldn't control the pain enough. I tried the injections. I won't lie the are a bit painful. My right one was just uncomfortable. The left one hurt way worse. I have no idea why but it even swelled up and I had to stay off it about 24 hours b/c of all the fluid on it.
Avatar f tn I need to lose 80 lbs. and have osteoarthritis. I've been on a low carb diet twice and both times the arthritis has flared and become quite painful. I think it's an excess of protein. How else can I lose weight? I can't stand being hungry and have good weight loss results with low carb. Help please!
Avatar n tn I constantly have pain throuhout my entire body, including my eyes! I've gone to many doctors and am just not getting answers. I sometimes think it's MS. I've been told though that it's Fibromyalgia and I've been diagnosed in the past as having TMJ and Osteoarthritis. I have severe neck musle pain periodily, not always but it happens. My legs are sore to touch, as well as other muscles in my body.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed in 1997 with Fibromyalgia. I also have severe osteoarthritis, especially in both hands. What am I doing wrong? The doctor told me I'm a very strange case. What's that mean? This discussion is related to TSH declining .
Avatar m tn It sounds like the doctors have ruled out the standard reasons for joint problems, like RA or gout. Your description of sand feeling in your joints is a symptom of osteoarthritis. Perhaps you're not old enough for the tests to show yet and it's the beginning of arthritis? I would try surfing for information on "benign crepitus" which is what they call what you have without a diagnosis. I understand working on one's health to reduce inflammation has helped some people.
Avatar f tn Generalized osteoarthritis is yet another subset of osteoarthritis. Most people know the meaning of primary osteoarthritis or secondary osteoarthritis, but generalized osteoarthritis is a lesser known term. Answer: Subsets of Osteoarthritis Primary osteoarthritis is characterized by joint pain, stiffness, limited range of motion, and weakness. Primary osteoarthritis is also referred to as idiopathic, meaning, there is no known underlying or predisposing cause.
Avatar n tn Do you know if you might be suffering from one or combination of inflammatory conditions including Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Lupus, GOUT, Tendonitis, Bursitis, Fibromyalgia, etc. There are blood tests to determine how much inflammation is present. Lastly, try to avoid foods that cause inflammation and eat those foods that are considered anti-inflammatory - although it is controversial I have found a good diet can help minimize swelling and ease some pain.

1619005 tn?1298864860 Have had some serious health issues that have escalated over the past year - have stabilized blood sugar with diet to control serious hypoglycemia (diet from an endocrinologist); controlling some sports-related osteoarthritis/compressed disks in my spine with Motrin regularly and cyclobenazprine rarely, as needed; regularly receive chiropractic work; I am also in the process of being treated for endometriosis with Lupron (has been working wonderfully, alleviated a lot of pain so far) and still,
