Until two days ago, I had been taking Prilosec OTC, 40 mgs. daily. I'm now taking the generic Omeprazole capsules, prescription. I switched to the generic version because it's covered by my insurance and it's a lot cheaper. I was told both meds were the same. However, after taking the generic Omep. capsules, I got bad side effects. I've never had any side effects from the Prilosec OTC. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed a significant difference in the two.
She has been prescribed with Mox 250mg( Amoxycillin capsules), Maclar 250mg( Clarithromycin), omeprazole tabs. Will it be sufficient for the cure with regular dosage or please suggest any additional measure.
I took 2 capsules to relieve an upset gut within 4 days I was running around with anxiety and feeling like death my vision went and I could not sit down had to keep walking around I felt sick and could not walk right this went on for 5 weeks I had black glitches in my vision and brain fog that's extreme my eyes even came out of place I was so scared my eyes even felt like they were ripped out
I had to go back on meds to control the bad anxiety and depression I felt

OMEPRAZOLE 20 MG. I would just like to know if there is a time limit that you can be on these capsules.
I have finally found relief for the constipation that goes with this. I now take 2 omeprazole a day, 4 domperidone--a motility drug, and a Zantac before bed. I have tried ginger capsules and all kinds of natural supplements, plus tums, etc.
Any suggestions? I have had a bezoar when digestion just stopped, gall bladder out--infection in that.
I feel like I have morning sickness all the time!
With additional advice I decided to stay on the Proton Pump Inhibitor (Omeprazole). It seems that extended use is supposedly not harmful to the body. I take a 20mg tablet daily and I can function fully and eat and drink absolutely anything as long as I have had the capsule. I soon know about it if I forget to take it! That seldom happens I assure you. My question is: I have at least one bowel movement daily - usually after I get up in the morning.

I recently visited a doctor and was diagnosed with GERD to end up with a prescrip for Omeprazole 40 mg. I generally do NOT feel any reflux in my esophagus. Is this normal or it possible it is not GERD? I have experienced acid reflux up to my mouth [which is very unpleasant], but this is generally a VERY rare occurance.

ve been to the doctor twice now, first they said it was gastriti and gave me some omeprazole gastro ressistant capsules, then they gave me some cetirizine hydrochloride (i think they thought i had a food allergy) but still i have this illness. It is like a sickness feeling, makes me burp more than usual when the feeling occurs and makes me need the toilet more regularly i think.
Does anyone know if it is ok to release the medicine out of capsules and mix the medicine up in juice? I have a problem swallowing pills and was not sure if this was an option????
Following a valve replacement and triple bypass I was discharged from Hospital with a number of drugs and a new one being Omeprazole. I did not know why it was prescribed but after a number of months taking it I decided after discussion with my Doctor to stop taking it. A few months later through the night I got this terrible chest pain on a scale of 1-10 I guess it was 7-8.
At first my wife had urinary infection, few weeks later she started to have fever and stomach problems, the docter told her it was a gastroenteritis. I bought her omeprazole and gave her amoxicilline, that worked. She felt fine, but few weeks later she had urinary infection symptoms again. The doctor gave her antibiotics again, that helped her.
I have GERD and a hiatal hernia and have been taking omeprazole twice a day every day for a few months (I had been on Prevacid for several years before the omeprazole but insurance won't cover it any more). If your main symptom is burping, I would try going off of the omeprazole and switching to gas-x or some other type of gas relief medicine. As long as you aren't having a lot of problems with heartburn or acid reflux, you would probably be fine to discontinue using the omeprazole.

Now due to the pregnancy, it seemed to worsen as I experience painful heartburns. My doctor recommends I take omeprazole along with antacids. I've been taking antacids because I know they don't bare side effects on pregnancy. I am not sure though with omeprazole. I'm scared. I am afraid it might harm the baby. Hi. I am taking omeprazole for laryngopharyngeal reflux for the past 2 days. I am supposed to take two pills daily, one before breakfast and one before dinner. Today, i started having this feeling that food is stuck in my chest and back of my throat but I don't have any problems swallowing. It is an uncomfortable feeling in my chest. I did not have this symptom prior to starting the drug. Is this a side effect of the drug?
Started off on omeprazole after endoscooy then inxe symptoms stopped would ease myself off them only for symptoms to come back at some point every year and so back on the meds. Last year i got some bad symotoms start up and was fed up with popping pills so tried dgl licorice with aloe vera juice instead. Worked a little but not entirely so went to doc and had another endoscopy (which came back all clear of any nastys). Doc stuck me on zantac this time and seemed to clear up.
Around 18 months ago my voice started to change. I was then prescribed omeprazole 20 mg capsules which make a slight difference and my voice returned to normal. But I still have to tap my chest and often have to get someone to hit my back to dislodge the phlegm which is milky white/ beige globules and quite a lot of it. It starts around 2 hours after i've woken up.
I am just beginning to go through what you did one of the threads I read was from someone who is now taking digestive enzyme supplements through a company called Enzymedica. I just finished ordering some apple cider vinegar capsules to aid with digestion. You should also consider a good natural probiotic at a good health food store that has lots of different cultures/bacteria in it.
How are the Prilosec tabs working for you?
The muscular problem sounds like it could be arthritic related. Have you tried any stretching exercises? Are you carrying any extra weight? I hate to push meds for this, but if the pain is that bad then you should try to find one that works for you. Usually, the NSAID category works well for arthritic pain.
