Avatar f tn Take omeprazole (empty stomach in morning) and antacid gel and see if it helps. Liver and kidney dysfunction is another cause. Hence kidney and liver function tests should be done. Other causes are diabetes and hypothyroidism. Electrolyte imbalance too can cause nausea. IBS, gluten or lactose intolerance, parasites in gut too can be the cause. A stool test should be done for worms, giardiasis etc. Also if nothing is found then food challenge test to detect food intolerance should be done.
Avatar n tn I wonder whether I can just take Sulfasalazine and avoid Naproxen (pain killer) and Omeprazole (acid reducer) if pain is within my endurance level. I really dont want to upset my stomach by flooding with drugs. By the way, can the disease damage any joints in the later years even though drugs are being taken to control it. What are the percentage of recovery or is there any case of having full recovery.

19691093 tn?1488194069 Dental disease is the most common cause of canine kidney failure. The infection and bacteria from bad gums and teeth over a prolonged time period goes down the gut and eventually to the kidneys. As the immune system becomes affected, the kidneys cannot cope with all this bacteria and start to shut down - and that starts a process that leads to chronic kidney disease.

Avatar f tn I took my dog Sadie in to the vet a week ago(9/21). The night before I took her in she was limping and refusing to use her right hind leg. Which progressed in to her not using both back legs and then not walking (within 12 hours). They performed a snap test which came back positive. They evaluated her and said it's highly likely it was ehrlichia because of her blood work and she also had ocular hemorrhaging (mainly in her iris's). Her platelets and RBC were low at the time.

Avatar m tn s patients usually have low or no acid which makes me concerned about taking this. And I read about ensuring you space out when you take omeprazole. I also have low ferritin and was taking iron, which I saw online is contradicted. Does anyone have experience with taking this?
17566731 tn?1457903922 s good, as it contains about 80% water and is low in protein and phosphorus. These are important when trying to get kidney disease under some control. Diet changes are the most important secondary management protocol after IV and SubQ fluids. Don't forget ... treats are also part of the daily food intake, and most will contain excessive amounts of bad things for caninine kidney disease. Another of my articles explains about diet for kd dogs here: http://www.infobarrel.
Avatar n tn (that’s the reason you are being given medication for acidity) Liver and kidney dysfunction is another cause. Hence kidney and liver function tests should be done. Avatar f tn Stones can chronically irritate the gall bladder and cause inflammation and pain. The other causes could be gastritis, peptic ulcer disease and GERD. Kidney disorders too produce colicky and sharp pain. Sometimes anxiety with flatulence can cause this pain. You will need to consult your primary care physician for proper evaluation of pain and therapy. Regards.

Avatar n tn I've had a very sore throat for more than 5 weeks now. My tongue is also sore. My throat is frequently making squishing, gurgling and bubbling noises. There is always the sensation that something is stuck in my throat. I feel indigestion and discomfort after meals. I'm very worried that it can be soemthing really serious. I was diagnosed with acid reflux in 2008 when I had a slight sore throat that didn't go away and was prescribed with omeprazole.

Avatar f tn I am 22 and have just found out I have kidney disease. I do not want to tell my family, because I know they wouldn't deal with it very well. Is it likely to be easy keeping this from them (I live with them)? I am considering not receiving any treament for now to make extra certain family don't find out.
