Only those colonies sensitive to methicillin will be killed by Ofloxacin and Naficillin. I would suggest an antibiotic sensitivity test for the colony of staph to see which antibiotic is strongest against them. Vancomycin, gentamycin, rifampicin are some antibiotics used.

I consulted a doctor who suggested that I should delay my STD test as my azithromycin(500mg twice daily) followed by ofloxacin course( 200 mg daily) will impact my test results.

I'm a 40 year-old American living in Thailand. A few months ago I had unprotected sex with a female coworker. About 10-12 days later I noticed a burning sensation in the tip of my penis (it felt similar to when soap gets in the urethra). The burning intensified over the next few days. It does not hurt when I urinate and no need to urinate more than normal. There is no discharge - just a slight whitish mucous visible only if I squeeze the tip. Co-worker has no symptoms.
I sent in a semen sample and it came back with the enterococcus faecalis infection so I am on amoxycillin. Thing is i have had a course of Ofloxacin, Amoxycillin (low dose) and another antibiotic.
My current Amoxycillin is 3 tablets per day, 500mg each tablet, so 1500 per day for one month, 4 weeks. I am now onto week two and still have the pain dispite the medication.

Early this year over new year I was submitted to hospital for emergency treatment on a corneal ulcer and was kept in hospital for three days and given intensive treatment of ofloxacin eye drops every hour, then released from hospital and continued to be on ofloxacin eye drops every 2 hours and steroid drops every 2 hours with frequent visits to the hospitals eye clinic to monitor my progress.
s still no urinating pain and no discharges. How can I get this after 10 days of Ofloxacin? Is it possible that the antibiotic caused another infection to grow i my urethra?
I consulted a doctor and he had put me on antibiotic (Ofloxacin with Tinidazole) after which the mucous and watery stools was stopped. The burps continue to bother with back pain.

Upon reading through the forums related to STDs, found out that some folks were prescribed with ofloxacin. Without consulting a doctor, I am self medicating now after googling what's ofloxacin is for. 3 days ago I took 2 400mg and subsequently 200mg every 12 hours. So far, the irritation when I'm urinating and the tingling has subsided significantly. My question is, shall I still continue taking the ofloxacin until the 7th or 10th day from the day I started taking it?
Ofloxacin is an antibiotic. It will not treat herpes, as herpes is a virus.
At this point you can test for chlamydia and gonorrhea 1 week post encounter, syphilis anytime after 6 weeks post encounter. Herpes and hiv anytime after 3 months post encounter.

I am blind in my right eye and although I suffer from a slipped cataract lens in my left eye which causes some problems with light catching the top of the lens, the vision in that eye nevertheless is 20/20. Recently I was prescribed an ear drop ofloxacin which I understand is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic which can cause double vision. After using the drug for 10 days I have developed double vision in my good eye which is very worrying.
About 6 months after this problem recurred, I was prescribed the same antibiotic drug (without being cultured). Several days later I felt an improvement, however, ever since things have not been the same: I still have UTI symptoms (burning sensation while urinating, during sexual intercourse and physical activity; lower abdominal pain; higher urination frequency; lack of ability to control when I pee; smaller urine volume). There is no trace of blood in my urine.
I am currently taking ofloxacin (local meds) 400 mg 3x a day for 5 days for my uti. Will it also cure any possible std(gonorrhea/chlamydia) if i have one?
On 3/21/07 she had stomach flu,5/24/07 she woke up with a bloody looking eye it's ALWAYS on the same eye (right)on the inner part of the sclera & it never spreads to the other eye,she always says it hurts & it swells up a little. I am an English women living in India. I had urine test and indicated few bacteria present so got antibiotic amoxicillin and doxicillin. The symptoms cleared quickly (although not 100%). However the day after I stopped taking the antibiotic they came back.I was in a rural area at the time and couldnt get correct test so a doctor gave me ampillin and cloxicllin to tide me over. Again some but not full relief.
I have taken 3 doses of Doxycycline to this point. He suggest the Ofloxacin is a broader range antibiotic and might be better if the source is a non-sexual bacteria and otherwise equally effective as Doxycycline. He feels given my age(40) Ofloxacin is the preferred choice
Does the presence of increased anal itching suggest inflamed prostate as the cause rather than oral induced bacteria and would this change the treatment.
ofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, monofloxacin, fusicid acid, chlortetracycline... Also anti-inflamatory drugs like Tobradex and FML which help reduce inflamation but not treat the cause.
What worries me now is that inflamation has reached near the cornea, as an incomplete bluish ring. May this threaten the cornea? My vision is not normal and i have had watery eye for about half a year now.
What treatment do you think will be best for this condition? Ciclosporine after a steroid, another antibiotic?
A retest for a uti one week later was negative but my symptoms were unchanged throughout all treatments. After my last positive nsu swab last week I was given ofloxacin 200g for 7 days and aciclover to cover hsv although I have no other symptoms of hsv other than an inflamed urethra. I should also mention I have tested negative 4 weeks ago for hiv, syphilis, clamydia and gonnerhea .I and I use condoms.
Please can you advise me on what I could have and what treatment options I have?
Have you got the urine analysis and culture tests done? It would be appropriate to take the antibiotic based on the results of the culture reports. And you need to use antibiotics for about 7-10 days to come to a conclusion on the infection. Also, check whether any prostrate enlargement is present, as this could cause recurrence of infection.
Consult a urologist for further assistance.
