Avatar f tn Well Ocella is the generic for Yasmin. I was taking Yasmin for 2 years, when last month I was given Ocella. Well I wasn;t too thrilled with it, as I had cramps for 5 days plus I started my period 1 day late. They say generic is always the same, but for me I felt a difference. It could be from the pill. Your body needs to adjust being on it. Side affects should lessen by the third month.
Avatar n tn I have PCOS and have been on Yasmin BCP for like 6 years to control my PCOS symptoms. The reproductive endocrinologist told me Yasmin is the gold standard for PCOS patients because the drospirenone works best in mitigating the symptoms of high testosterone like acne and hair growth. Well my gyn nurse practitioner called and I guess there is new evidence out that Yasmin is causing causes more blood clots than other BCPs, and this is a risk that increases as you get older.

Avatar f tn I am currently on Ocella (generic for Yasmin), I have been on it for almost a month, I start the inactive pills tomorrow night. Before I took Ocella, I was taking Yaz(and I switched immediatly). My last period lasted for 3-4 days. I should start my period on March 11th. Yesterday I had light pinkish/red blood when I wiped and some cramping and now I am having light brown discharge that is odorless. I have not missed any pills, and I do have unprotected sex.

Avatar n tn Although they claim to not have any difference, I was on Yasmin (brand name) for a while and then was switched too Ocella (Generic) and I did notice slight changes in my period. In fact, I never missed a single period on Yasmin, but did miss one while on Ocella. The blue veins, I mean if your fair skin like me, I notice the veins all the time. Sometimes they are bluer then normal, but you can't always go by that being a symptom of pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I am SO sorry to hear about this terrible family tragedy, and after seeing for myself some information on the issue of this drug ocella (generic for Yasmin), it appears there is a possibility the birth control brought your daughter down, particularly since that was the only thing she was doing differently when all this started. It's a scary thing that medicines can do this to people, I just wonder how well these things are tested and so forth.
Avatar f tn I have been on generic Yasmin birth control for 6 years. At the end of September I was switched from Syeda to Ocella. I was about two weeks late picking up my prescription. On October 5th I was sexually active and it was during the first week of my pill pack. I ended up starting my withdraw bleed during the third week of my active pills. It was light and spotty, only when I wiped. It lasted 10 days. About three days into the spotting I got sore breasts, which I have never gotten before.
Avatar f tn SO they gave me Ocella, the generic of Yasmine....for the first time I had side effects. On Yasmine, I had not side effects that bothered me enough to take into account. All I know is after years of riding the roller coaster of PMDD /Hairloss/body hair growth, I felt like the sun came back up on Yasmine. My nurse changed me to Yaz in July. As I write this I about to switch back to Yasmine and the pharmarcy has lost my presciption..so I am cying!
Avatar f tn Did you make sure to give the pills (when you tried both ocella and lybrel) a few cycles to work? I know it's annoying, and in the mean time you have a life to contend with... But sometimes it takes a while for these things to work. It's weird that ocella (generic Yasmin, I think) would make you bleed, because that is usually one they give to women who have problems with breakthrough bleeding. How long did you try it before you quit?
Avatar f tn But now she stopped Aldactone and gave me Birth Control Pill ( Ocella, its generic of Yasmin). But How long can I take this BCP I am not sure. My period are always been so frequent since they started ( in the age of 13). Recently my doc took vaginal and abdominal ultrasound. She found that I have Poly cystic ovaries. But she told me that I don't have PCOS as my periods are very frequent. My doc took all the test. First they took my blood sample, and then gave me a injuction of Cortrosyn.

Avatar n tn hi, iv been taking yasmin for a few months now, and i was on a previous pill before that but had a bad reaction to it hence had to change. anyway last month i started bleeding before my week off, so i kept taking the pill on my week off because i didnt want to have a 'period' for 2 weeks. then this month on my week off, nothing happened, no bleeding at all.
Avatar n tn m new to the community, see you posted last month. I was on Yasmin, I think its related to Yaz but not the same for about two years. I had some really odd symptoms with Yasmin and begged my dr to take me off of it, since then I was on Apri, which is just generic desogen.
Avatar f tn No they are not the same. Yasmin or Ocella is a lower dose of birth conrtol, while Yaz is prescribed more often to those who suffer from PMDD (Premenstrual dysphoric disorder). Yasmin is one of the best birth control pills out there for those who suffer with PCOS. I've been on it for 2 years, with a break of 6 months. I just started a new pill pack this month again. I too suffer from migraines, but the pill does not give me any.
Avatar f tn Completely agree. Yasmin has been my answer to moodiness/psm for 15 years now. On Yasmin I actually feel BETTER during the standard "pms" days of the month for taking it! Recently, on a whim, I too took the advice of the pharmisist who recommended Isobelle as an "exactly the same generic verse of Yasmin at a cheaper price" and have been taking it for over one month now.....OMG.
Avatar f tn I had suffered from these migraines before for years and it they only get bad when im on certain bc pills. I saw my PC doctor on tuesday and asked just to be on yasmin for the next few months just b/c of the situation and so I started taking the generic ocella yesterday. I hope it straightens **** out. Anyway, what I want ot know is ,"Can your symptoms of your mentrual period worsen b/c you just detoxed off the stongest pain medicine there is?
1019152 tn?1336074292 I have taken Yasmin for years and have never had any side effects from it. I went off the pill last year and just had a baby in December. Now I am going to start taking the pill again but realized that Syeda is the generic of Yasmin. I was wondering if your daughter had any side effects from Syeda that I should be aware of before I start taking this drug?
Avatar f tn I was on yasmin for like 4 years and by the 3rd year i started having stomach pains and issues with my stomach. It has been on the news and in papers and on line about organ issues!!!!!! i repeat do not get yasmin. the brown isnt really old blood its just discharge before your actuall period starts. Not only that but talk to your doctor tomrrow or call your gyn. But listen to me you do not want yasmin!!! ask ur gyn about it!!!
Avatar f tn I have been taking Cryselle (thats the generic name - I think it may be the Lo Loestrin but check with you dr). I have been on it for a few years now and haven't had any problems with weight. I may get a zit here and there but NOTHING near a breakout by any means.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I was diagnosed with endo 6 months back and was operated on immediately. The gyne later commented i had stage 4 endo which was very sever at my age (I'm 26 this year). Subsequently, i was given Decapeptyl for 3 consecutive months, stopped for 3 months and now starting to take Yasmin..I've read about the side effects of Yasmin but there seems to be few people taking Yasmin to help with endometriosis..can anyone advise?
Avatar m tn I was wondering if switching birth control pills could have helped maximize the anxiety. I switched from yaz to ocella and have only been on ocella for a few months and the anxiety started like a month ago.
Avatar f tn I started out taking Yasmin, each time I have gone to refill my prescription they have given me a different generic form. The last time I had my period 3 times in a month and haven't had a period since...it has been about 6 weeks now and I am worried.
Avatar f tn 3 months ago i have to get a new pack (i usually have yasmin) the chemist guy told me there was a generic brand (isabella) which was EXACTLY the same and i asked him over and over to make sure i didnt have to wait 7 days to have sex etc. I have a boyfriend of 4 years and we have never used a condom.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I just recently turned 22. I remember being little and seeing the floater in my right eye that I still have, only now I see it more often. I remember not wanting to go on computers, anything with bright lights, etc. when I was little (11-14?) due to the fact that I would always catch a glimpse of this floater. At the time I didn't know what it was... later in life I developed bad chronic anxiety since I was about 15.
Avatar f tn I was sick and on antibiotics so took yasmin double dose for 2 days only. The midcycle bothered me but now it seems to subside. Taking pills was a mistake, and being irregular even bigger. I agree with your point. I think we shouldnt be experimenting with our systems when all is in order. Thanks for your advice and kind words.
