Avatar n tn For my bones I take Calcium+vitamin D, and once weekly Novo Alendronate which is the equivalent of what you are taking now.My surgeon told me that it's very important for me to take Arimidex because it lessens considerably the estrogen that the body produces thus diminishing the chances of recurrence or developing a new tumor.Personally I would prefer not taking any drugs, but since I have very little side effects, I will continue taking this medication for the next 4 years.
Avatar m tn My wife is a 65 year old in good health who has taken FOSAMAX for 5 1/2 years. She wants to get her teeth straightened. The periodontist has recommended a procedure to reinforce the gums prior to the braces. This has added an additional 6K to the price and about 3 months to the total time to straighten the teeth.
Avatar m tn Other side effects that are likely to occur are vomiting, diarrhea, increased palpitation, a rise in body temperature, increased heart rate, skin rashes etc. If Frusemide (water tablets) they are used to remove excess fluid which builds up in the abdomen, or can obstruct breathing. Frusemide doesn't usually give obvious side effects (unless the dosage is overdone, in which case dehydration can occur) But dogs on this should have their potassium level and kidney function checked regularly.
Avatar f tn I took my first dose of Alendronate and then experience significant muscle pain for the next 4 days. Does anyone know if I should expect this to happen each time I take it or is it something to happen for the first few times until my body adjusts to the medicine?
Avatar m tn The authors examined the effects of high-dose oral alendronate (40 mg daily) for 6 months on 3 adult patients with intractable headache due to fibrous dysplasia of the skull. Each patient had disease processes not amenable to surgery. The patients underwent clinical follow-up at 1, 3, and 6 months. Their pain levels were documented at each visit by using a visual analog scale. All 3 patients demonstrated a significant decrease in pain levels and became independent of scheduled analgesics.

Avatar n tn Do you mean Fosamax (alendronate)? If you do, its for treating bone problems like Osteoperosis by adding bone mass and slows bone loss. I use it for Osteopenia.
363110 tn?1340920419 Im 21 weeks pregnant and have been having seziures since I was 17...after trying differnt meds that had alot of weird side effects I finally switched to a neuroligist that actually seemed to use his brain...he has me on 30mg of Novo-clobazam each night like I have been for the past 6 or so years.
Avatar n tn If you believe your are reacting badly to Lantus (or any other medications) you should ask your physician for an alternative, at least to verify it is the medication and not some other factor that is causing the problem. Lantus is popular for it's 24 hour action, but so is Levemir (Novo Nordisk). NPH insulin can also be used for long acting insulin, though two injections may be needed to get the 24 hour coverage.
Avatar f tn Doctor gave me an antibiotic but again next week it recurs. Body aches mostly knees and ankles [ i suffer through osteoporosis and joint pains too but the pains were not troublesome earlier] Can anyone tell is it viral or anything else.
1268578 tn?1274884217 Has anybody else had to take novo trazodone during pregnancy. Motherrisk has classified it as safe, no increase in birth defects in a study, so that makes me feel relatively good. However there was a small increase in miscarriages (4%). Im scared but I have no other choice as I have major insomnia and anxiety problems without the medication, and have already attempted to stop, causing several withdrawal problems.
Avatar m tn If the current practice to produce resistance by mono-therapy continues too long, there could be a substantial percentage of de novo infections with resistant variants from day one, those could be a real problem.
Avatar m tn Also I take Novo-Carbamaz (1.5 pills twice daily) to take into consideration. Can anyone shed some light on this? Regards.
Avatar f tn Also, it is rather itchy and is quite dry and peeling. They have prescribed antibiotics; Novo-Cloxin for five days and Novo-Clindamycin for fifteen days. After I started the second one, it seemed to be getting better, but then did not fully heel. Whenever I put hand cream on, it gets red and inflamed. There is also some on the tops of my toes, which has mostly heeled, but not fully gone away. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Avatar f tn If you are worried that using this has damaged your bones, you should speak to your doctor about this. If may be that you need to have calcium and Vitamin D (this helps the body to absorb calcium) replacement. Do not stop taking the prednisones until you speak with your doctor. The damage to your 3 vertebrae may just be coincidental. Make an appointment with your doctor and discuss your concerns with him. Hope you get on OK. Best wishes.
Avatar m tn m using Lantus 24hr along with Novo Rapid insulin for meals because pills are bad for my kidney and liver in the long-term (so says doctor). I've been having a lot of hypoglycemia recently too. But my question here is about Masturbation in relationship with glucose levels. What effect does it have on diabetics and any info. concerning this relationship is highly appreciated. Thank you in advance, Tom.
Avatar m tn I am a 25 year diabetic (type I) who recently tried to give blood. I was given an "indefinite deferral letter" by the red cross because i used insulin made from beef products manufactured by squibb/novo. apparantly I can't give blood til i convince them that none of the beef came from the british isles due to the possibility of mad cow disease.
Avatar f tn Large doses might cause too much magnesium to build up in the body, causing serious side effects including an irregular heartbeat, low blood pressure, confusion, slowed breathing, coma, and death. Special Precautions & Warnings: Pregnancy and breast-feeding: Magnesium is LIKELY SAFE for pregnant or breast-feeding women when taken by mouth in the amounts recommended. These amounts depend on the age of the woman.

Avatar f tn Some old posts say it can reactivate HCV, even after 8 years, which I find hard to believe, but I don't know anything about steroids. I understand they can have some serious side effects and I'm wondering how damaging they are to the liver. I realize that last statement could be made about any drug, and it's best for your liver to not take anything, but sometimes you have to weigh the good against the bad depending on why you need to take it. Any info would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn i am supposed to increase today.I have had very few of the expected side effects but I am very tired all the time and besides having no desire too eat which is fine I also have no desire to do anything. I feel sort of depressed. I also feel itchy all over and achy. I don't know if it could be the Victoza or something else. I thought I would quit today but decided to take the shot later in the day to see if that helped.
Avatar f tn so i didn't ovulate this month and the Dr gave me novo-medrone, so i could get my period, tomorrow is my last does. Just wondering when to expect my period?
Avatar n tn I am very nervous that I may have picked off something that could have been potentially dangerous, as it did not look like anything I have seen before on my body. I have read stories about patients that have melanoma de novo and am very concerned about this happening to me. I don't want this to all of a sudden appear in my lymph nodes. I could go to the doctor and have the area biopsied, but there really is nothing there to see. The skin looks normal, just slightly lighter now.
Avatar n tn I'm another volunteer here and also not a medical professional. WAK is right that you should talk to your doc about this episode. While I haven't had the specific reaction you described, I can remember having some unusual symptoms if I accidentally injected into a blood vessel or muscle so that my insulin "hit" more quickly than it would otherwise. As you know, we strive to inject in fatty-tissue (subQ or subcutaneous) that is nourished by a healthy blood supply.
