Norvasc heart rate

Common Questions and Answers about Norvasc heart rate

norvasc

Avatar f tn Some calcium channel blockers can affect heart rate and are not indicated for use with beta blockers. Norvasc does not have that conflict. You also might ask about a low dose diuretic such as Hydrochlorothiazide provided there are no contraindication to its use with your health history.
Avatar n tn Both Amlodopine (Norvasc) and verapamil belong to the same group- the calcium channel blockers (CCB) which are usually indicated for hypertension and migraine prevention. Amlodipine have very little effect on heart rate and contraction while Verapamil have the greatest effects on the heart and reduce the strength and rate of contraction. Since they have different actions, it is best that you discuss this first with your attending physician for proper management. Take care and best regards.
214864 tn?1229715239 My question is, can I find a CCB that can take the place of a beta blocker that will slow my heart rate down? I already take Norvasc, a CCB to try to reverse diastolic dysfunction. My LVEDP is 27 mmhg. I am currently taking 20 mg of Coreg CR (controlled released), an ACEi, Plavix, Zocor (intermittently due to adverse reactions, same as with all statins) and Norvasc.
Avatar f tn P. My B.P. readings was okay but my Doctor discontinued the Toprol because my heart rate usually on the 40's. I am currently taking Norvasc 5mg. with the Diovan 320 mg. So far, my B.P. readings is very good, 110/70. But eversince I started the Norvasc, my left leg is swelling and it is becoming worst. I'd like to ask my Doctor to discontinue the Norvasc. Is there any other calcium blocker that doesn't cause swelling?
Avatar m tn She was previously tested a few months back and her Echo, Carotid Ultrasound and Stress Test were ok but other than blood work at the hospital, heart rate monitoring and a chest x-ray, no other tests were done at the hospital. However, the heart monitor showed several sinus bradycardia episodes in the high 30's. I worry about how low her rate goes down during sleep if it goes down this far when she is awake.
Avatar m tn and I was taken off Norvasc because my BP was low and was causing fatigue problems, and problems with GERD. Now when I go and ride the bike my heart rate goes up slowly to 140 BPM but when I quit my heart rate stays at about 100-112 most of the day. I feel no other problems (lightheaded, or pain in my chest for E.G.). I do take hydrochlorthizide for BP but my BP is 119/70. I am feeling a little anxious about it, but other than that I feel fine.
2095551 tn?1333122531 Is there any other drug out there that will work the same way to open up small blood vessels like Norvasc but wont have the "bad swelling of legs and feet?" Anyone, please me know know, looking forward to hearing from you...

Avatar n tn Coreg is medication that helps lower the heart rate and bp. The stress test will evaluate one's physical condition a peak heart rate unmedicated, and how quickly the heart rae returns to normal within 3 minutes or so. Other phases of the test considered as well.
Avatar f tn It feels horrible, but definitely better than having my heart stop. Does the heart rate stabilize at a more reasonable rate eventually? Also, curious about others who may have had Atenolol-induced heart block.
Avatar f tn There may be reasons why this was not started (extremely low heart rate, conduction disease, allergy, etc), but should be addressed by her physician.
Avatar f tn I worry about taking the Norvasc also since I have read it can cause increased heart rate. If I have sinus tachycardia and my doctor has decreased my beta blocker..should I be concerned with the Norvasc causing a dangerous arrhythmia? My heart rate now ranges from about 50bpm up to 90 resting. In addition, I have huge pauses in my heart beat when I breath fully in and start to breath out and vice versa. It makes me feel dizzy when it happens and wakes me up at night.
672586 tn?1280933658 You are changing from one class of heart medicine to another. I would question the abrupt withdrawal directly with your doctor, and perhaps I'd ask your pharmacist about the possible problems. Also, a Cardiologist might have important imput in this decision.
Avatar n tn I also have migraines which they feel are causing the arterial heart spasms. I had a heart catherization and my heart is healthy. I just have occasionally high blood pressure. Believe me I am as confused as you. That is why I am asking if it is okay to take Topamax for my migraines and Norvasc and Cardizem for my heart. I haven't spoke with a pharmacist as of yet. I will pick up the Norvasc today.
Avatar f tn Before I had the chance within a 2 minute time frame my heart rate went from normal to 160 bpm and would not stop. Went to er where they did blood work and said all blood work looked normal. I experienced the racing and shortness of breath for about 2 to 3 hours off and on. Er doc said probably some tachardia due to stopping the beta blocker I had been on for years.
Avatar n tn I suffered with angina for several years. Recently, I had angina that would wake me out of a dead sleep. It was diagnosed as vasospasms. I was put on Norvasc a month ago. I haven't has any angina, stable or variant. Norvasc works great for me. I have some swelling and slight dizziness with the Novasc, but the benefits far out weigh the side effects.
Avatar n tn The pain is relieved by a medicine called nitroglycerin (dilates coronary vessels). You have been prescribed norvasc and that should relieve any chest pains. Norvasc is in a group of drugs called calcium channel blockers. It dilates blood vessels and slows the heart to reduce blood pressure and the pain of angina. Calcium channel blockers may be needed long term. Medications may also include beta-blockers. However, in some cases of spastic angina, beta-blockers may be harmful.
Avatar f tn I has a stent put in 1year ago. All of asudden my heart rate increased 108 to 112 resting. Had a nuclear stree test done results are normal. Doctor had already increased my Cardizem Cd to 360 in Am <180 at night. Heart rate was good for 2days ,around 80 . Yesterday I flt like my chest was going to explode. Took Maltha and 2 nitro, pain went away.. Many times a day I fel a chest discomfort that lasts for seconds, sometimes it feels like someone blew a bubble in my chest.
Avatar f tn Last week, my doctor also switched my verapamil ER (300mg) to Norvasc (10 mg). For the last several days my heart has felt it is racing. Because my BP meds were switched up, I have been monitoring my BP which in turn has a HR output. My resting HR is now anywhere from 90 - 109 BPM. I called the doc today and when the nurse returned my call she indicated it is "rebound- tachycardia" from coming off the beta-blocker.
Avatar n tn I tried taking Cardizem and had to stop. I had been given Cardizem instead of Norvasc for heart spasms. It was the long lasting Cardizem. I suffered through 12 hours of awful chest pains. I went back to the Norvasc. It just works better for me.
Avatar n tn My blood pressures are still running somewhat high at times. The problem is the diastolic and the heart rate. Earlier today it was 144/102 but at that point my heart rate was 73. Some of my recent readings are 141/101 pulse of 104: 129/104 with a pulse of 90; 137/102 with a pulse of 102. I have a couple of questions. 1) is it a danger when the systolic minus the diastolic are less than 40 in difference? 2) I did not get to see my physician but did see the PA...
Avatar n tn when i got home my bp was 143 over 100 and my heart rate was 104...then i went to the kitchen and check my blood pressure standing up it was 139 over 93 was a heart rate of 129 just standing does anybody know wht this is happening..is it the extraction and how much blood i swollowed or is it the antibotics ...what my friends please help!..
Avatar f tn Well, this is up to you and your doctor. I don't think we can give you any useful advice regarding how to treat this. One comment I would like to add, is that I can't understand why you are so afraid of short events of high blood pressure? High blood pressure is not a disease, it's a risk factor for future heart problems. We all have different blood pressure response towards stress.
404682 tn?1324579818 ll go along fine and then wham my blood pressure will spike out of nowhere to 170/102 so my dr decided to start me on meds. I started taking norvasc 2.5 mgs at night because my BP is really high when I wake up. After being on it for 5 days I ended up in the ER with dizziness and another sudden BP spike. ER sent me home told me to take a norvasc when I got home then to start taking it in the AM. Next morning I felt awful so my GP told me stop norvasc and started me on clonidine.
Avatar f tn 1mg 2 x day. However, the Norvasc is not working after 12 hrs. My B/P is 150/113 12 hrs after taking the norvasc. Can I take a clonidine .1 mg along with the norvasc?
Avatar m tn I am on metoprolol and with a slower heart rate it does feel as if you are out of breath after exertion.... due to the slower heart rate and therefore less blood gets pumped/beat. This is one reason you stop taking a beta blocker before a stress test. Not really a true side effect when you consider the reason why one takes a beta blocker.
Avatar m tn and its at fine at home it should be ok? should i get any tests or heart tets done to make sure my heart is ok ...or blood work or to see if my kidneys are ok, are there other ways of seeing why i have HIGH bp other then it being from my dads side.
Avatar f tn It was decided to add Norvasc 5mg INSTEAD of Nifedipine, since Norvasc was used/tolerated well in the past. Began taking Norvasc 5mg along with Lorsartan 100mg and Atenolol 25mg (all 1x daily) approximately 3 days ago, and the blood pressure is still running extremely high. This morning reading was 186/85 and tonight 176/110!!! Worried that this can be dangerous. What should be done? How long until the BP goes to a "normal" range? Does the doctor need to increase the Norvasc dosage?
Avatar n tn I am a 52 year old woman and have heart problems for at least 10 years. I was rushed to the hospital countless times and when EKG’s were done nothing would show. After a few times they started to show some change so my PCP called it stress and put me on xanax. It only got worse. I met and found a friend who is a cardiovascular doctor and started to see him. The countless EKG’s stress test, halter monitors, nuclear stress test would also show nothing.
