Avatar f tn My son has struggled with severe rectal pain for almost 3 years. We have taken him to several drs. and specialists and they are not finding out what is wrong with him. He has been to Dr. Peaster, Bartlesville, OK , urologist and Dr. Roeder, GI spec. in Topeka, KS. Nothing is showing up with all the procedures. Last week we had to take him to the emergency room due to the problem. Blood work indicated Myco. Plas Pneumonia, and elevated liver enzymes. We have him scheduled to see a Dr.
Avatar n tn I have had a fissure for six years and fistula as a result for over a year, I just recently had surgery. It took doctors years to see it, but the pain was a daily 10!!! I'd have to pull over on the road sometimes to put cream on because it would randomly sting with vengeance!!! Most docs looked and said it was nothing, not worth surgery, even though I said the pain was a 10! Finally I talked to an intelligent Colo-rectal doc who said it depends on the person.
Avatar n tn I have constant pain in my rectum. It started after walking on the treadmill and the pain in unbearable when I sit. I was diagnosed with Levator Syndrome. In January of 2008 I had IV steroids (Salumedrol) for my asthma and the pain stopped until the first of July. Before that I had injections in the levator muscle with no results. In July I started walking again and the pain came back even worse than before.
Avatar f tn I suspect that you are likely experiencing rectal spasm. Rectal spasm typically gives intense sharp pain in the anorectal area and last seconds or minutes. Other considerations would include an anal fissure or a thrombosed external hemorrhoid. An anal fissure will cause a sharp pain as the stool exits the anus; often some bleeding may be noted.
Avatar n tn There are lots of reasons but rectal bleeding is never normal so you should seek medical advice promptly. For more background, type rectal bleeding into google and click on to one of the many sites - the Medicinenet site is particularly informative.
Avatar m tn As I wrote in my earlier post, for about 30 years I suffered intermittently about twice a year, for several weeks each time, from hemorrhoids and a bleeding rectal fissure, but since I have limited my consumption of alcohol I have not suffered from those conditions for about 3 1/2 years now, let alone the spasms, and I am extremely thankful for this nearly every day!!
Avatar m tn I can understand your worries. Well yes, so many rectal/anal exams can irritate the anal mucosa and an existing fissure can flare up. However, if the doctors cannot find any sign of fissures, then the anal irritation and pain may be due to worms in stool (so get a stool test done). Other causes could be undigested food like citrus fruits, grapes, certain spices, tomatoes, certain medicines like antibiotics and laxatives and certain drinks like beer, milk, tea, or coffee.
1043834 tn?1269043023 well the pain and blood only lasted for a small part of the day..
Avatar f tn However it is common during labor. The other possibility would be an anal fissure. An anal fissure is a split in the anal skin and it feels like being cut with glass when you have your bowels open and afterwards. First of all, sit in sitz bath 2 or 3 times a day, increase fiber in the diet and take stool softeners or laxatives to avoid constipation. You may apply Preparation H cream or 1% hydrocortisone cream.
Avatar n tn I have also been using nitroglycerin ointment for an anal fissure and am wondering if it could be connected to that. We have also started using central heating in the house again so I'm wondering if it's that. It's incredibly distracting and not even the drops are working.
Avatar f tn I have been through a very rough year with hemorrhoids and a anal fissure and diarrhea. I had a colonoscopy a year ago November and only found a small internal hemorrhoid. Which was great news. But then in March, I was diagnosed with an anal fissure. I tried the nitro route, but it didn't work. So in October, I had a lateral internal sphincterotomy. This healed the fissure and its been three months so far. But I have had two bouts with hemorrhoids since.
Avatar f tn I am a 40yr old male i have had rectal pain along with coccyx pain for 6 months now! I have had a colonoscopy along with several digital exams. I have been told that I have an anal fissure that keeps getting opened back up. I am scared that something is being missed i haven't seen any blood for awhile but still have burning pain and alot of tailbone pain!
Avatar m tn Back in 2002, At age 22, I had a colonscopy for rectal bleeding. It came up with nothing other than an anal fissure. I've had rectal pain pretty much ever since then off and on with bleeding here and there, but not any lately. My stools are always different, sometimes solid, other times broken and very "loose". I often feel somewhat constipated and have a solid stool, that is followed by several smaller almost smushed stools.
Avatar n tn Rectal bleeding is never normal and you should seek medical advice. For possible causes google "rectal bleeding" and click on to one of the many sites - the Medicinenet site is particularly informative. If your doctor is unable to confirm positively that the cause is minor (such as anal fissure, haemorrhoids etc) I suggest that you ask for a colonoscopy.
Avatar m tn I went to 2 doctors. Then went for a colonscopy. Then an anoscope. Finally I had to have surgery. The colon/rectal doctor told me that once they become chronic they have a very hard time healing without surgery. The muscle goes into spasm and tears it more and more so it never heals. You need to go see a colon rectal doctor. He can give you a few creams that may work if not there is a quick surgery that can be done to fix things. Just go in!
Avatar m tn there is a growth in my anal and rectum area, which make it difficult for me when passing stole and also very painful.
Avatar n tn Hi, I'm a 25 years old female, and I have been experiencing some rectal bleeding for 2 days straight now when i defecate, i have hemorrhoids for a year now, and i have experienced rectal bleeding before, but usually it is in small amounts and I only notice it through the stains of the tissue paper when I clean up afterwards. Now it really worries me for there is a lot of blood in the toilet bowl after I defecate.
Avatar f tn I think I have fissures because I struggle to go to the toilet and wen I finally do I'm in so much pain, which I can't do anything for at least 10 minutes which it then turns into a dull aching pain for hours, there also quite a lot of bleeding. What can I do to help with this its been happening for 10 days now and its really getting me down, help!!
1478636 tn?1287406417 I have a 13yr old with lower belly pain and rectal bleeding for the last year. We have had a bunch of tests done on him including a colonospy and all they found was a fissure which drs tol us they didn't feel was his problem. My poor son spends days doubled over with pain and I can't stand to see him like this. Does anyone have any sugestions or ideas as to what else I can try?? He already sees drs and they are puzzled. cause all tests are coming back negative. Someone please help!!
1440074 tn?1283996071 Just saw your post. Sympathize with the pain those spasms cause. I have experienced them rarely. But sure know they are brutal. As to concerns about cancer, hope doctor relieved a few worries. In my opinion, altho' I suppose it could be a fissure, there is no way to know for sure without an exam. This needs to be done in an colon/rectal clinic with a specialist. A doctor trained to spot problems with the proper equipment to do a thorough exam.
Avatar n tn at the end when my stool is almost out.... also have some rectal bleeding... could this be hemorrhoids or an anal fissure.... the pains happens more with bigger stools.. what is some treatment for this? -Thank You.
Avatar n tn Rectal bleeding is never normal so I would always suggest seeking medical advice. If the doctors can firmly diagnose one of the minor causes such as anal fissure or haemorrhoids then fine - but if there is any ambiguity then I would suggest a colonoscopy. Type in rectal bleeding to google or yahoo and click on the Medicinenet site which is quite informative as a basis for having more knowledge when you visit your doctor.
Avatar n tn Type in rectal bleeding to google/yahoo to learn more. The medical name for the black/tarry appearance of motions as a result of intestinal bleeding is MELENA. Type this into google/yahoo to learn more. Melena should always cause you to seek medical advice.
