572651 tn?1530999357 As always it stopped my discomfort, depressed my already low blood pressure and I went to sleep for about 3 hours. I've used nitroquik for the past 3 months or so and it always stops the pain and gives me relief within minutes. It makes me wonder if nitroglycerin is part of anyone's MS drug protocol? Just wondering a lot these days.....
Avatar n tn I woke up this morning and now my bp is 185/110. Can withdrawal of the nitro patch cause high blood pressure, even though I've only been taking it for three days now?
Avatar n tn t take viagra and any nitrates cause it can drop your blood pressure really low. So I stopped using my nitroglycerin for about 48 hours so I can take the Viagra. I noticed that I wasn't having chest pains a few hours after I took the viagra. Then I didn't have angina for over a day. Once I felt a little chest pain, I took another viagra and no angina. I've been taken viagra for over 2 weeks and no angina. I even have been doing cardio with no chest pain whatsoever.
Avatar n tn Viagra is a medication that also causes a drop in the patient's blood pressure. It is important for patients to ask on an individual basis whether it is a medication that they can safely take with their other medications. If you are taking a nitroglycerin preparation, Viagra is NOT allowed. Do not use Viagra within 24 hours of the test. Nitro-glycerine (sometimes given during a stress test) may interact with Viagra, resulting in a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
Avatar f tn I also have 3 valves that regurgitate, mild dilatition of the right ventricular the right atrium LVEDP mildly increased RVSP mildly increased at rest and increased when exercising. The calcium channel blocker makes my blood pressure on the low side and heart rate low around 4l. I just started the meds. a couple of days ago. I have a long way to go with all of these problems. Hang in.
Avatar n tn It dilates blood vessels and slows the heart to reduce blood pressure and the pain of angina. Calcium channel blockers may be needed long term. Medications may also include beta-blockers. However, in some cases of spastic angina, beta-blockers may be harmful. Lipitor is medication to help control cholesterol. According to your post information you are receiving appropriate medication to treat symptoms of spastic angina.
Avatar n tn 95 and widely varying resting heart rate... 46 to 78 and widely variable resting blood pressure 148/98 to 102/70 thirty minutes later. What further testing, if any, would you suggest?
Avatar m tn The same with his recent heart catherization was chest pressure. In the ER he was given 2 nitroglycerin, 5 minutes apart, the chest pressure went away after the 2nd nitroglycerin. Does any good specialist in cardiology think that my husband should have the open heart surgery for bypasses considering the risks regarding his age, his diabetes? I would appreciate very explanatory answers, easy to understand, what to do in my husband's situation. Thankyou.
Avatar m tn Secondly, there is a small crack in the middle forefront of the tongue. My age is 81 years. I am not diabetic and my blood pressure is normal. I have had angioplasty done 5 months ago and now I am on heart related medicines Nitroglycerin, Clopidogrel+Ecosporin and Atorvastatin. I wear artificial denture. Last month I had surgery for cataract in my eye. My evacuation system is working fine, although sometimes I miss a day or two.
Avatar f tn All tests says I am not having a heart attack, but with my blood pressure being high it is making my left side of my heart to struggle and causing my heart walls to thicken.. That is why I am having chest pains. My other systems are, numbing in my left arm, pain in my left jaw and some pain in my back. My doctors continue to readjust my blood pressure medicine and says this should work… It has been a week since I was released from the hospital. The adjusting of my medicine is not working..
Avatar m tn The pain lasts anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. I have been prescribed nitroglycerin to take as needed for chest pain and this medicine surely helps. I've had several EKGs and cardiac enzymes done which were all normal. I also had a threadmill/stress test done which was normal. My cardiologist thinks the the probability of me having an occluded/blocked coronary artery is very low.
1098952 tn?1270309713 If a person with HCM were to take nitroglycerin, the symptoms would worsen and the nitroglycerin could even cause a catastrophic deterioration in the person's condition".
805943 tn?1238093647 I noticed that my blood pressure had actually dropped to normal limits when I was on the nitro drip and I even did the echo stress test while on the nitro drip. It was the only time during the 2 days that my chest wasn't bothering me, but boy was my headache bad.
Avatar f tn When should a person go to the ER for high blood pressure. I've been having a pounding head ache, face has been flushed, etc for over three days. I used to have to take high blood pressure medicine but I was running, loosing weight and my need for the medication was done. I've recently gained weight and haven't run in about 3 months. My blood pressure is 150 over 95. When do I just wait to go see my regular doctor and when do I go to the ER?
Avatar f tn As of January 08 I began having episodes of numbness and throbbing in arms and legs and feet. I was on Adallat C for 4 months with fairly good relief and at the end of 4 months and was then put on Norvasc. These were specifically for the cold hands and feet, not for high blood pressure, as mine has always been low (90/60). The Norvasc was tried for 30 days with no improvement. Nerve conduction studies ruled out nerve damage so arteriorgram of upper extremities was recommended.
Avatar m tn I was on Lopressor for blood pressure control for several years and was in the same situation as yourself -- my heart rate was too low, and my blood pressure was still too high. But why are you on the nitro patch? If you've had a heart attack, if you have angina, if you have an arrhythmia, or if you have congestive heart failure, there may be another reason besides blood pressure control for your doctor to prescribe Lopressor.
Avatar m tn After that till this time ther is no problem and i have never visited a Cardiologist also. I had little BP which is well undercontrol with medicines. I am told that Doctors in USA prescribe Sorbitrate to the Ischaemic patients and also for senior citizens. Is it true. If so will you suggest me to keep sorbitrate, if so what is the minima dosage i have to kept. Please excuse me for having taken your valuable time.
Avatar f tn Hello, Probably this dizziness was caused by low blood pressure, low blood sugar levels or dehydration, too much stress or anxiety or lack of sleep. All these are modifiable factors.Eat healthy nutritious food, drink plenty of fluids, exercise in moderate amounts regularly and stop feeling stressed.Sleep for atleast 6-7 hrs everyday. But if the symptoms persist or worsen, then definitely you have to consult a physician. Take care and God bless.
Avatar m tn I have tried all kinds of blood pressure pills and when i move up on dose to help it causes more raynauds. I finally was put on nitroglycerin patches and had to be moved up once and now i'm adding ginko to my dose and i have finally saw a change. Not a perfect fix yet but much better. I also take fish oil twice a day for the inflamation. Nitroglycerin does cause headaches but i put mine on at night so i'm sleeping thru most of the headaches.
Avatar f tn I have high blood pressure and take meds. Normally my blood pressure is 145/80-154/88 and my pulse is 70-89. I have Narcolepsey and must take stimulants so its difficult to get my blood pressure down much more.
Avatar m tn A full hemodynamic assessment was made and his cardiac output was 6.8 liters per minute. His PA pressure is normal at 28/15 as was the RV pressure normal at 29/14. His pulmonary wedge pressure is a bit high at a mean pressure of 21, his RA mean pressure is also high at 17. He also had full oximetry assessment to rule out intracardiac shunting. There is no evidence of any intracardiac shunting seen.
Avatar f tn m hesitant on taking the Amlodipine because it lowers blood pressure and mine is already low. As far as drinking, I wouldn't advise it especially with the Isosorbide, that is basically Nitroglycerin in a daily form. I'm not a Doctor but I hope this helps you! Good luck.
Avatar f tn I'm a twin, too, and I've never heard or read that about twins and low blood pressure--And I've read a lot of medical stuff over the last 30 years. I would see another doctor to find out what is causing this low blood pressure and what can be done about it. Good luck and let us know what you find out. .
715004 tn?1309077280 If you do not have a blood pressure machine, I would get one and start taking your blood pressure three times a day (if you can) three times each. Record the blood pressure in a booklet. Record your heart rate also. I do not know how fast your heart rate was or how high your blood pressure was when your doctor prescribed the beta blocker. If it were me, I would want to know exactly what is wrong before taking beta blocker and nitros. Nitros are bad for the liver.
Avatar f tn Nitroglycerin dilates your blood vessels and therefore lowers your blood pressure and strain on the heart. But most importantly, it dilates the coronary arteries, when your coronary arteries are having problems dilating, it causes the angina. When your coronary arteries are dilated, that means they are openning up and allowing better blood flow.
Avatar m tn What would happen if you rubbed pure nitroglycerin on your skin? I'd like to know the symptoms on and below the skin. I know that nitroglycerin is used for anginas, but I also know that it's generally mixed with something else, so I'm curious about how well pure nitroglycerin would work and what it would do. And if you had a vial of pure nitroglycerin, what could you mix it with to be able to use it as ointment?
