So we went to a doctor and he gave out to urine culture report. And that report says, Klebsiella Oxytoca(K.Oxytoca) is isolated in the urine. It is a urinary tract infection. It also says that the colony count of the bacteris is 1,00,000 cfu/ml. Hence, doctor prescribed some medicines like Uribid with nitrofurantoin in it, Prothiaden M, Montemac FX for allergy and Hifenac-P for fever and also Cital syrup for UTI.
Bilirubin, LDH, Direct Coombs Test, Indirect Coombs Test, Anti RBC Antibodies, Anti RBC antibodies titrenvd, CBC, Bilirubin in Urine, ESR, Creatinine, Urobilinogen, Hemaglobin, Hematocrit all seem to be fine, but Haptoglobin is <0.01 - completely depleted in three tests done in a week. No history or symptoms of anemia or haemolysis.
9 days ago Nitrofurantoin (200g a day for 5 days) was taken and daily birth control (Qlaira).
However, it become pretty noticeable and I started to urinate extremely frequent with little urine coming out (not much of a noticeable pain when passing) accompanied with lower back pain (right side mainly, like a burning sensation). I went to doctors and suspected a UTI. I was prescribed Nitrofurantoin.
I’ve had same sexual partner for 2 years. So an STD would be extremely unlikely. I’m confident on that.
However, I have had Chlamydia with previous partner, if that’s relevant.
Hi I had sex a few weeks ago and within 24 hours I had erection problems and testes shrunk . I did a gonorrea and chlamedia test both were negative . I had blood in my urine +3 not seen by the naked eye.
The doctor could see no infection so she made me do a kidney function blood test. The kidney blood test was fine . So I read online that blood can give me a Uti.
I have been taking ciprobid, doxyl and nitrofurantoin for a month now. but still the is no change. I still have some pains. I was diagnosed with an UTI, in the urine and blood test the was no Chlamydia, gonorrhea or syphilis in short no STI. (My weight is about 145 kg, previously has been 188 kg, with a length of 170cm) It started in 2006, I did get nitrofurantoin, but I got only more ill, till I even got over 41 degree fever and an emergency-doctor then prescribed ciprofloxacin which did help (this was in Holland). Since 2008 we are in UK and I have been under treatment at St George, London, till 2010.

I had protected vaginal sex with a woman 2 and half weeks ago and 4-5 days later noticed burning during urination and freguent need to pee. after a week of symptoms went to urologist who said i have WBC in urine and its very alkaline that makes my burning symptoms. I also noticed my uertha tube was quite red from tip. There has not been any sores in genital area and iv never had STD before.
After 7 days of this exposure i feel UTI like symptoms and diagnosis done by a urologist and tell me that u have UTI. My urine culture was positive with E.coli. i took antibiotics Doxycycline, nitrofurantoin, fosfomycin, farobact, Mikacin . Symptoms go away after 40 days of antibiotic course. But after one month symtoms repeats.
After 3 months of this exposure i have pain in penis, burning senstation during urination & ejaculation, heavy yellow urine.i went to a urologist.
I have been prescribed nitrofurantoin (macrobid) for a UTI. I have a hard time swallowing pills. Can these be broken up?
Ultra sound came back clear. Was back at doc today with the same symptoms, no blood was found in urine sample, just acidic levels were not normal also protein found. I was prescribed antib's but only to take if things get worse, ie temp continues and back pain. Has anybody else experienced this before or have any idea what is causing this or how i can prevent it persisting????
At 15 weeks pregnant I had a really high white blood cell count in my urine. My gyne suggested that I have a UTI. I had no symptoms thereof. I was put on nitrofurantoin for 7days. I finished the course and now 3 days after I finished the antibiotics I tested my urine and the leukocytes/white blood cells are still very high.
What other infections/circumstances can cause this? I am very concerned as I only can reach my Dr. on Monday.
Her dr examined her and didnt think it was yeast infection. We did urine test and it showed enterococcus bacteria. We’ve since been on 1 round of nitrofurantoin and 2 rounds of cipro (first a 7 day and then a 10 day). She’s had no other symptoms but itching. We go back for urine test in am and I’m sure she still has the bacteria as she is itching. All the tests showed either a small amount or moderate amount of blood but all tests were negative for nitrates and leukocytes.
A few days after these symptoms started I noticed white/clear discharge from the urethra. I have had swabs and urine samples done and now am waiting on sti results for ghonorrea and chlamydia. My question is though my other symptoms have gone so theres no more pain in erections or whilst peeing. I still have a very small amount of white/clear discharge though and when ejaculating my semen is white and gelatinous.
No improvement, had blood and urine culture sample taken and prescribed Nitrofurantoin. No real immediate difference but then the symptoms subsided in week 4 anyhow. Urine & blood tests were all clear.
Also, Negative for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Syphilis, HIV. I also took Doxycycline and then Azithromycin prior to getting negative results in case it was Chlamydia or Gonorrhoea, and Metronidazole in case of Trich.
Regular consumption of citrus fruits like oranges also helps in preventing recurrent UTI as they cause acidification of the urine. You will also need continuous prophylaxis with drugs like nitrofurantoin to prevent UTI. This may go on for 6-12 months. It’s good to know that your renal functions are good. I thought I may be trying to pas a Kidney Stone. My regular Urinalysis was 90% Flagged so my Urine was sent to a Microbiologist. That was also nearly all Flagged.
Hi, Its is common for patients who have Interstitial Cystitis to have a few real urinary tract infections in the past, then start to have symptoms with no infection in the urine. White blood cells in the urine don't necessarily mean infection and needs a workup if the cultures are negative. A urine culture is key rule in or rule out the infection. If there is no infection by the culture but you still have symptoms you may have IC.
The doctor said the results came back negative and there was a lot of water in my urine. She asked if i could be pregnant, she then ran a pregnancy test the first one came back positive and the second came back negative. She started me on Macrobid and told me to take another test. When reading the leaflet for the home pregnancy test it says antibiotics can effect the resulst so should i take the test or wait till the antibiotics are done.
A couple of weeks later I developed a urinary tract infection. Urologist prescribed nitrofurantoin for the infection. Immediatedly after starting the antibiotic my ears gradually starting feeling clogged. Now, two weeks later, they are both very clogged (no wax buildup) and I can barely hear. Logic tells me the ear clogging is somehow connected to the nitrofurantoin. Has anyone ever experienced this or heard of this happening? Will this clogging go away by itself?
I have recently been feeling unwell and have recurring UTI’s and been on Nitrofurantoin. I also take levothyroxine for an under active thyroid.
I recently had a LFT and my ALT was 934. My GGT was 140 and bilirubin 37.
I am having an urgent scan tomorrow but the drs seem at a loss as to what is causing this? Any advice or help?
Also my doc has started giving me an antibiotic called NITROFURANTOIN (100 MG 4 times a day for 14 days) for my latest infection and I feel worse after completing the course even though my gp says my urine sample a lot better.Does anyone know anything about this antibiotic or have they taken it?
HI, the question is--what is your diagnosis? Are your symptoms coming from a true bacterial infection, or is there something else like Interstitial Cystitis causing your symptoms? You note that you have "high white blood cells in the urine" and blood> You need a urine culture off antibiotics to determine if there is a true infection.
