Avatar n tn HTM My fluttering seems to be a type of muscular tinnitus, perhaps caused by deterioration of some nerves in the area after some type of injury and/or muscle spasm. What to do? I'm going to try taking Niacin which is a known blood vessel dialator, and Ginko which has similar effects. There is also accupuncture, which can relieve some types of spasms, but it can also create spasms.
Avatar f tn But she really want to continue to take the Lipo-Flavonoid (which contains Vitamin B1, B2, B6,B12, C, niacin, pantothenic acid, and calcium) because she said that it helps with her tinnitus. She also wants to take the Bilberry vitamin with lutein for her eyes. What is the best thing for her to do? Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn Suboxone is unlikely to cause Tinnitus. The ringing sound you hear is called Tinnitus. It occurs with disorders affecting the external, the middle or the inner ear. In the outer ears cerumen impaction or external otitis, in the middle ear fluid collection or disease of the tympanic membrane and in the inner ear damage to the nerve endings can cause tinnitus. As a result of these disorders the external sounds are masked leading to awareness of normal body sounds.
Avatar m tn The problem is not in my ear! like tinnitus. It is a steady, high pitched tone, shrill like. Some days it is so loud it is painful. It causes me to loose sleep, wakes me up, keeps me up and has become a real nuisance in my life. Sometimes it is causes me headaches as well. Blood pressure is ok. I hope it can't be stress as I'm fairly laid back and exercise regularly. I play ambient sounds throughout my home to no avail.
Avatar m tn Hello~I am so sorry you are experiencing all these awful issues. I would think that some of your not feeling well would be due to the stress of the ear issues. You certainly have had it long enough. Some ear issues can be due to hidden food allergies, have you been tested for any allergies in general?

Tbd What is the purpose of the niacin and should a niacin supplement be administered if the medication does not contain niacin?
Avatar m tn By contrast, slow-release niacin preparations reduce the hot-flush effect by releasing niacin over an extended period of 12 hours or longer. Most of these preparations are unsafe and I do not recommend them. “No-flush” niacin preparations, such as inositol hexaniacinate and nicotinamide, are widely sold as niacin alternatives that do not cause hot flushes. In my experience, however, they simply do not work. In other words, no flush, no effect.
Avatar f tn Hello, I have recently heard that Niacin is good for lowering cholesterol. Anyone have any experience with this?
Avatar f tn How much Niacin were you taking daily? Was your physician aware you were going to take the Niacin to lower your cholesterol? Were you taking any other medications at the same time?

1495437 tn?1288798915 I am a 32 year old female that took 3 Niacin supplement pills in 1996. I was told that they would de-toxify my body, and is very healthy for me. I took the pills before bed one night, and was lying there feeling an intense burning all over my body, my esophagus was on fire, I stood up unable to breathe, and gasped for air, feeling light headed, I went to the landing on our staircase trying to get downstairs, that was the last thing I remember.
1063764 tn?1272821064 I was watching a documentary and heard about a case where a woman was put on niacin supplements for depression. She was taking very large dosages, but it completely pulled her out of her depression. So far fluoxetine has helped me, but I think in time I will need a larger dosage. I would really rather not do that, so my question is: is it safe to take niacin supplements of 100 mg daily plus an extra multivitamin with 20mg. I don't want to end up taking too many vitamins.
Avatar f tn I want to take benadryl to orevent a niacin flush, but im worried the niacin wont work.
Avatar n tn m in my early twenties and workout, a couple months ago I took a vasodilator supplement which later I found contained nicotinic acid(essentially niacin I think) in a high dose. I felt what it's called a niacin flush, tingling and warm feeling all over.. I did my workout and after went to take a shower, that's when I noticed a big red patch in my left foot and two small ones on my right foot.
Avatar n tn Drinking hot drinks or alcohol can also increase the flushing, so it is best to avoid these when taking the niacin. Also, niacin should not be taken with certain drugs. I don't know what other medications you are on, but you should check with your pharmacist and make sure that they are compatible with the niacin. You should contact your doctor and let him/her know about your reaction to the drug. You and he/she can decide together whether it is best to stop the niacin, or continue.
Avatar f tn Hi, I had a blood draw in April of 2009 and all of my numbers were perfect accept for my cholesterol was a little high. I was told from friends that Niacin helps as well as fish oil. So, over the past 8 mths I took 500 mg a day of Niacin and fish oil and my new blood draw came up with a perfect score in the cholesterol area but my Bilirubin total was elevated at 1.4, Iron UIBC low at 102, Iron serum high at 175 as well as Iron Saturation at 63, and my biggest concern was my TSH high at 5.08.
Avatar m tn valve replacement 2001, redid bypasses. I was on 40mg Lipitor and 500mg no-flush niacin for a number of years with moderate sucess. I subscribe to the Cleveland Clinic Heart Newsletter. In the July 2007 issue there was suggestion that 1,500mg niacin was a good statin supplement. Starting in July 2007 I followed this suggestion, taking 1,500mg slow-release niacin with the Lipitor. I have biannual blood tests.
