463841 tn?1207438535 ve been hearing and reading a lot of posts from people about their experiences with the Niacinamide supplement, and how effective it seems to be with people suffering from anxiety. I just got myself the thing.. but I'm having thoughts on whether to take it or not. I'm currently on Xanax a .5 mg every night. So even if I did consider taking Niacinamide, it wouldn't be advisable to take it while I'm on Xanax at the same time would it?
Avatar n tn 9 people reported to have side effects when taking Niacin And Niacinamide, Indocyanine Green. Among them, 2 people (22.22%) have Mania. niacin belongs to what is called antidepressant vitamins http://www.antidepressant.com/antidepressant-vitamins.html As a rule any antidepressant, whether vitamins, St John wort, etc...doesn't suit bipolars. in Bipoarity one has to take care as he walks and watch out where your legs go, very tricky indeed and not easy at all.

Niacin is mostly for cholesterol and the heart and blood pressure, while folic acid is essential to proper nervous system functioning, and is in a balance with B6 and B12, which are especially important for mood regulation, to control homocysteine which in overabundance causes inflammation in the blood vessels.
1495437 tn?1288798915 I would recommend 100mg of Niacin along with Bromelin (a pineapple extract that dissolves blood clots and sometimes red spots) and then lots of antioxidants. Niacin has some interesting bonding properties to antioxidants and their release, and if you're going to increase circulation, you want to make sure what you're circulating are things that will help your body and your skin.
1135275 tn?1586565652 Niacin is toxic in too high a dose. Niacinamide isn't, and so that's usually used for mental health purposes, but it doesn't yield a lot of niacin. Niacin will also give you a hot flush on your skin, unless you buy a non-flush niacin, which is usually, again, niacinamide. Niacin is usually used for the heart.
Avatar m tn I just started getting MS spasms; however, last year I was taking a statin & 1000 mg/day of Niacin (*not* niacinamide, which does does not produce the flush) and started having severed cramps in my buttocks/thighs to the point where I could not walk my dog. Found out that niacin is contraindicated for use w/statins, quit taking it. Niacin can lower cholesterol at high doses (my plan). I now take 500 w/out side effects.
Avatar n tn Joan Has your mother had Vitamin D and Vitamin B12 levels checked. Many elderly people do not produce enough of these vitamins and this can produce signs of dementia. Check out the website www.doctoryourself.com. Vitamin C is also a great healer in large divided doses and may work to prevent future UTI's. Look into niacin or niacinamide for relaxation at night. Aricept is also a medication that sometimes helps with the forgetflness.
1381186 tn?1280202029 Not sure about the magnesium question -- magnesium doesn't usually nauseate people. It can cause loose stools if you take too much or if you take unabsorbable forms of it. Minerals can also be a problem if taken apart from meals, although magnesium can be useful for relaxing the muscles if taken apart from meals before bedtime. The mineral most associated with causing nausea is iron.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever heard of niacinamide? I have just read this: take 500mg to 2000mg of niacinamide(not niacin) a day! google it and you'll find more then I can tell you. i've been taking it for about a week and it seems to be helping quite a bit already. it works the same way as valium and similar drugs without the side effects(its not a sedative). many people claim it works better then prescription drugs. Its about $6 for a bottle of 100 500mg caps!!!
1135275 tn?1586565652 Starting with a lower dose and then gradually increasing it as may taking the supplement with food. Slow-release niacin and products made from nicotinamide (or niacinamide) and inositol hexanicotinate are also less likely to cause this reaction. at doses over 1,500 mg (1.
Avatar m tn magnesium heart or magnesium chron's and you'll find stuff like how it relates to MS like here.... http://www.nhfw.info/magnesium.html This takes time, but you will get better just like I did because I am the only person I know who has cured Proctitis. Proctitis is just Chron's which is INFLAMMATION affecting the colon or rectum area........Remember your GI is NOT Normal so you have to take 3x or more supplements than someone who is normal.

Avatar n tn d forgotten about the ebook because I thought my feelings were a candida die off reaction to Niacin (as niacinamide and niacin) that was also in the supplement sample I took. I found my printed copy of Daugherty's book and am going to review it again for help. I know this is an old thread but thought it might help someone else. Heart Palpitations are very uncomfortable but not dangerous. Arrhythmias on the other hand might be serious like---Atrial fibrillation (aka Afib), tachycardia etc.
8793709 tn?1409594060 m currently taking 3 different supplements (1) pregnacare, a pregnancy tablet that most women in UK take, (2) Calcium Sandoz, a calcium efervescent that my doc in Switzerland prescribed because Pregnacare doesnt contain calcium, and (3) Balance PL, a protein powder that my doc here in India prescribed to mix with a glass of milk twice a day (she knows about the other two supplements i take).
Avatar f tn if you can try the slo release formula and make sure you take with food.. I use and research a lot of alternate treatments.. Niacin has the propensity to flare up causing those exacerbated feelings also your scalp may feel like its on fire too.. You should be ok and if it doesn't go away seek medical treatment ..
Avatar m tn it occured in regular and time released forms, with niacin, and with niacinamide you have the added issue of vasodialation. Since diseased livers can already have double normal blood pressure in them, vasodialation could lead to bleeds, especially with weakened vessels, Vit C has a whole host of issues because of it's acidity.
Avatar f tn , published his exceptionally careful and comprehensive research about niacinamide and osteoarthritis titled The Common Form of Joint Dysfunction: Its Incidence and Treatment. Dr.Kaufman’s research came out around the same time that patented cortisone formulas were being heavily promoted, so niacinamide treatment was hardly noticed. I read 1,000 milligrams of niacinamide three times a day (it doesn’t work as well if you only take it once or twice daily).

479244 tn?1271563659 (uh oh) Anyway, I checked and found that someone with liver disease (I have mild inflamation and no fibrosis) should not take over 35 mgs. of niacin per day. This stuff I bought at the drug store has 25 mgs. of niacin. Is is all they had , but I am thinking about returning it. IYO - is it safe for me to take this or should I return and look for plain ol B12 liquid.
475570 tn?1280941363 I just want to add that this was a study of Niaspan - the time release version of Niacin - and not Niacin.
