Common Questions and Answers about Nexium purple plus program

nexium

Avatar f tn It is possible that nexium is not the right med for u.....ask ur dr if there is another med u can take.....nexium is a PPI (proton pump inhibator) ask about H2 blockers..or HII...... How often do u have ur TSH checked......my endo told me today that with an autoimmune thyroid issue the TSH can change btwn visits and testing. So, u should call ur dr when the symptoms r acting up so they can check then.
Avatar m tn She has severe abdominal pain, night sweats, twitching at night, nausea, vomiting, panic attacks (no history of), chest pain, problems breathing, severe anemia, shes taking birth control for the anemia, nexium for the abdominal pain along with hydrocodone. No purple urine, though i have not put it in the sun. This has been going on for about 6 months now. Anybody with any ideas?
Avatar f tn I'll answer my own question just in case someone else has the same problem ... yes, Nexium can turn stools dark. I went down from 2 N to 1 N a day last night laand stools are fine again.
Avatar n tn Hi...may I ask who u r directing ur question to? Sorry not sure what pics of meds u r referring to....? Depending on how long u were on ur GERD meds stopping them can cause rebound effect causing the symptoms to return, it is advised to step off slowly to help avoid this issue...continue with the GERD diet and lifestyle to aid in triggering the symptoms.
Avatar f tn Do not increase the Nexium. Your husband is right. You should not be on Nexium while on Plavix. Print out the info from Google and show it to your GI Doc. Ask him to give you another med for your Gerd. It's mostly the PPI's that should not be taken with Plavix, I don't think all of them, I'm not really sure, but your GI Doc should advise you on what other kind to take.
2101847 tn?1333564794 My Dr prescribed me Nexium the purple pill and it helps 100% i never get acids and i am able to eat whatever.
Avatar m tn I'm fairly certain I have LPR. Acid taste in my mouth many days and mild sore or scratchy throat. I have no lump in my throat, no coughing, etc. Three of my favorite things in life are red wine, coffee and chocolate which I know are all bad for me! I did go to see an ENT a month or so ago and he performed a larangoscopy. Said all looked good.....not tumors, etc and I'm not sure he could tell I had LPR had I not mentioned to him.
Avatar n tn gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Several years ago when I had more frequent episodes I went to an internist who suggested I try Nexium (the purple pill) for thirty days. After that I had no symptoms for over one year and seem to be fairly under control with an occasional flutter. Look into it. Good luck!
Avatar f tn One word - YES. Nexium is also called the purple pill of misery. High and low stomach acid both cause acid reflux but insufficient stomach acid is the most common cause. For 25 years my mother was on acid blocking drugs (she was told she had high acid) and almost died from the side effects. She is now free of GERD, LPR and is 95% improved with gastritis.
Avatar m tn i saw this guy floydd wright on youtube who says do not take nexium if you have hep c . has anyone heard of nexium being dangerous to induce hep c ?
485077 tn?1222620140 Never took Nexium or any PPI prior to treatment, but took Nexium a day for most of treatment. After treatment, I was able to stop completely. So, treat yourself a little more of that purple pill if it will make your QOL on tx better. In addition, you might also try an H-2 pump like Zantac or Pepsid AC (not Pepsid Complete) at bedtime. Also, an antacid (like Tums, Mylanta) here or there is no problem as long as you space it around 3 hours away from your riba dosing.
1499174 tn?1327231194 You can take Nexium, or even the Purple Pill, Prilosec which is OTC and safe in pregnancy according to the OB's I had with my pregnancies. here's a site with info on ways to prevent it, treat it, and other things http://heartburn.about.com/od/preventingheartburn/a/pregnancyhrtbrn.htm and another http://www.webmd.
Avatar f tn I am adjusting my own personally developed supplement program--which has kept me healthy for years. I am not a advocate of prescription drugs.
Avatar f tn I started getting these agonizing stomach pains one night a few weeks back. my food intake was normal home made meals, high fibre foods like boiled vegetable, chicken, etc. I started taking Ibuprfen, because I thought it might help as I thought I ate something wrong. Than the pain didn't reoccur untill I got my period two feeks back.
Avatar f tn I have had gerd plus a hiatal hernia for years. I take nexium and have for at least ten years. Now I am told I have iron defiency anemia. Reading through the insert that comes with nexium it appears this drug could cause the anemia. Has anybody experienced this?
Avatar m tn s, and he suggested I take Protonix instead. I simply unrolled my sleeves and showed him my purple, bruised arms and suggested my blood was really thin. He agreed, no change. However, I looked up the study and indeed, Prylosec can have an effect with Plavix in some people. I have to say, Jim, that a full 325 mg aspirin plus 150 mg of Plavix is a gorilla dose. As a caveat...
Avatar n tn I had almost the same problem, I had stomache ulcers, It is usually caused by like stress and anxiety, My Dr. put me on Nexium (the purple pill) I didnt loose that much weight that fast, but anything and everything I ate or drank came out instantly like water...The pains in my stomache was more like massive cramps! I didnt want to eat because of the fact I didnt want to have to go to the restroom if I was with another couple or out at a restraunt.

679466 tn?1247006054 But is there any risk to taking Prilosec or Aciphex or Nexium for the rest of your life? What are the risks? For example - i take Nexium every day, and that prevents any uncomfortable acid issues. If i stop taking the pill, i feel the heartburn. So - if i take 1 pill every day for the rest of my life, of any of the above named medications, what are the risks?
Avatar n tn There is I think three vidoes that go with the program. most Librarys have it to check out. the program is pretty easy to follow. all of our schools use it from pre-k to 12th grade. I kow that my kids are happier with this program compared to the other ones that they have had in the past. Maybe this might help.
Avatar f tn hi ladies I'm just wondering if any of you have the wic program and how it works. I want to apply for it but I'm not sure when I should before or after the baby is born. I'm 23 weeks.
Avatar n tn I have been on Aciphex 20 since 2007, with instant results. After changing Health Ins. , I am told by the current insurer that they won't cover Aciphex. I must go thru a step program, starting with Nexium, which my Doctor dosed at 40 mg instead of 20 mg, saying Nexium didn't come in 20 and the 40mg of Nexium is comparable to the 20 mg Aciphex . Questions: (1) Is the above true? (2) Are the side effects the same, and (3) What's the difference between the two.
Avatar m tn Hi my name is Mal and i have been taking Nexium (40mg) now on and off for about 12 to 18 months (I think). I first started as I went to my local doctor as I was having indigestion/heartburn nad he prescribed Nexium (40mg) told me to come back after finishing the packet which is for 30 days ( 1month) which I did and the indigestion had gone but came back again some months later and slightly worse.
Avatar m tn did you try Nexium for the acid reflux? My insurance made me try all other kinds of meds because they didnt want to pay for the brand, but only the little purple pill controls my acid reflux after all...
