I have been taking Protonix for 5 yrs. Originally had Bowel obstruction surgery 7 yrs. agao. Bad doctor from emergency room referral, no antibiotics before during or after. Contracted acute sepsis, jaundice then ARDS.
On ventelator in coma for several weeks. Upon awakening had hole in my stomach size of a football. Several failed mesh surgeries, finally flapped and repaired by reputable nationally known surgeon. Still have adhesions requiring decompression sometim es, etc.
I suffer from severe acid reflux. My doctor told me I could stay on my nexium after I got pregnant. But I've heard conflicting things on taking it during pregnancy. Had anyone else had this issue? I'm pretty nervous.
Has anyone else experienced only nexium working? I have used all other medicines and they don't seem to work, but now my insurance company wont pay for it.
Hello. I have taken GERD medication for about 20 years. I was on Prevacid for many years. My GERD is severe, and nothing else worked as well. Protonix and Nexium did NOTHING for me, nor did Aciphex. Prevacid works OK, and my doc suggested Kapidex and I took it for a month. I did about as well on it as the Prevacid if not a tad better. I think Prevacid and/or Kapidex blow away Nexium; although what may be right for me will not be guaranteed for you.

There is nothing in the manufacturer's literature regarding bone loss with Nexium. If the Nexium is diminishing your calcium supply then you may need to increase your calcium intake. First, I would suggest a bone density scan to make sure if your calcium levels are low or not and to measure the strength of your bones. Please discuss this issue further with your primary doctor.
im on nexium 40 mg caps, once a day, my question is, can you still have symptoms even though you are taking the med's i have been on nexium 2 years, starting to have a little reflux even though i took my pill
Nexium is just fine to take on treatment as is the other PPI's. My hepatologist ordered me Nexium during tx and then led me go to Prilosec or prevacid when the became OTC. And sense i'm now SVR there wasn't a problem with them.........
I have not heard of any link between nexium and cancer of the esophagus. There is a link between acid reflux and Barrett's esophagus that can ultimately turn into cancer if the condition is not controlled. That's typically why nexium is given - to knock down the reflux and control damage to the esophagus.
I have been on Aciphex 20 since 2007, with instant results. After changing Health Ins. , I am told by the current insurer that they won't cover Aciphex. I must go thru a step program, starting with Nexium, which my Doctor dosed at 40 mg instead of 20 mg, saying Nexium didn't come in 20 and the 40mg of Nexium is comparable to the 20 mg Aciphex . Questions: (1) Is the above true? (2) Are the side effects the same, and (3) What's the difference between the two.
I was recently diagnosed with GERD, and prescribed to nexium. Today is the 2 week mark of taking nexium. The only symptom I seem to get is really bad belching and it feels like there is a lump in my throat, those were the same symptoms I had when I was diagnosed. I had the same symptom for about a month before i went in. Maybe once or twice did I get heartburn or get an acidic taste in my mouth. Like I wrote, it's been two weeks on the nexium and the belching is still present.

I have taken Nexium and NEVER had any issue with or prone to "stomach viruses" at all. "Kills all the stomach acid"......not exactly sure what that means. The medication DOES alter your proton pumps associated with the acid production in your stomach thus lowering the acid in your stomach.

Yes, it was Nexium. He got no relief from his problems while on this, and was going to go back to the doctor, when I suggested he stop that, and try the Prilosec. He had no problems at all while on the Prilosec, but ran out of it (didn't tell me), and started the Nexium until he could get more Prilosec. Within days, we were eating dinner and he felt like his food was stuck in his throat, and this is when I found out he was out of the Prilosec.
I am.trying to.wean myself.off nexium after 10 yrs, as I feel food has been.fermenting in my stomach, symptoms r.reflux hrs after eating bringing up.food, smelly wind, sore bowels, itchy nd burning bottom. I feel original symptoms were due to emotional problems and depression not being treated, my doc is not interested in.helping cus of budget cuts, I'm.
Would you expect it to sort it self out if caused by medication? Its been two weeks since ending medication.
I just read on another site that being on Nexium can cause biliary dyskinesia. Can anyone relate to this? Has anyone stopped the Nexium and had the biliary dyskinesia go away and gallbladder return to a normal ejection fraction? I have been on Nexium for the last year. I was on it once previous to this go-around and had stopped taking it for a few months. Then a horrible acid reflux hit. I was on Lorazepam, at the time, too, when the acid reflux hit.
I doubt that "NEXIUM" has anything to do with your sisters knee pain. You can refer to the package insert if you look up the medication..

I am a 28 year old female. slightly overweight (15 lbs). The only medication I am on is an oral contraceptive. For the past 5 months I have experienced a daily side pain in my upper right abdomen below my rib cage. No other symptoms - no nausea, fever, irregular bowel movement, loss of appetite- nothing. Just the side pain. It doesn't seem to be associated with what I eat. It occurs as either 1. a sharp burning pain several times in a row and multiple times throughout the day or 2.
He reckons my stomach lining is inflamed due to much acid and put me on nexium 40 for 2 weeks and then on nexium 20. As I got pain I took a 40 instead of 20 yesterday and expierienced side affects pretty civir: nausea, digestion 3 times worse then before, gas, headaches. I was relieved after going to toilet. Today I didn't take any and got a different brand of 20mg anti acid over the counter as my doctor is on holidays till next week, which I took now.
I am seeing a specialist next week.
