Common Questions and Answers about Nexium ibs

nexium

Avatar f tn He followed up with his doctor on this and I do not think they did the right thing by giving him Nexium. Since he has been on the nexium he has gained 20-30lbs and is now feeling bloated and worse than before. I just do not know what to do about this anymore. I do not know what it could be caused from. If maybe I could get a diet for this type of thing so i knew what kinds of foods that would be best for his stomach and or a better diagnosis. Could this be IBS? We will be following up with a G.

Avatar m tn Have Barrett's Esophagus - diagnosed. Lost Left Kidney 1996. Have had IBS diagnosed innumerable times before Barrett's found. Terrible Nightsweats - no matter what I do, cant seem to get rid of it. During the night change pyjamas at least once if not twice. Get awfully cold. Is there anything I can attempt to help. Have already a tremendously restricted diet - same as for IBS, but more severe. Anything I eat reflux's, even liquids.
Avatar f tn t taken Nexium and the last week started taking Metamucil. I am now worse than when I was taking Nexium. I am extremely tired and don't know what else to do. I have maybe 1 night each week where I sleep until 6am, but that is nowhere near my normal of 8 or 9am. I have been under a lot of stress at work since March and I know that can flare up symptoms of bowel disease, but at this point I think I need to see a Gastroenterologist due to my PCP not really taking this seriously.
Avatar m tn The last year it has gotten worse where I occasionally wake up with back and throat pain but it is quickly resolved by getting up, moving around and taking tums. I have been to many gastro dr.s, have been on nexium and zantac and am mostly constipated (wondering if I have IBS-C?) For some reason, I am petrified of having pancreatic cancer and worry that the back pain could be this.
Avatar f tn oh forgot to say IBS issues can cause nausea..and stress can flare IBS issues..no doubt you're stressed as well.. so fiber supplements and water..(starting slowly) might also be causing nausea..my guess is your tummy though.
Avatar n tn It seems like previously Nexium seem to help a little. I did have slighly low iron level. One gastro specialist think IBS, but I am not constipated. Though I did notice bloating and less bowel moveements than before. Any suggestions or other tests that you recommend?

But very often, I do get coughing in night when I lie down, heart burns, breathless and pain in upper stomach portion. am Obese with 110Kgs wgt for 5.8 inch height. need to loose 30 kgs. trying everything.
Avatar f tn I am a 36 yr old female who is taking nexium for GERD and or gastritis. Every so often I experience this burning sensation around my stomach and upper area back which may last for several days. My bowels have changed in size, the color is usually normal, but I do not see any blood nor mucus, and when I did have a bowel movement there is pressure near the rectum area. I have gotten a colonoscopy which was negative.
Avatar f tn I doubt that "NEXIUM" has anything to do with your sisters knee pain. You can refer to the package insert if you look up the medication..
Avatar m tn I went to my GI doctor and told him about it and he just told me to keep taking my Nexium 40mg. I told him that I take it everyday without fail. I showd him were the pain was and he just said, I think its your intestines. I had a endoscopy and he said, I had Barrett's esophagus and a Hiatal hernia and left it at that. I had to talk to a friend who said that I might have IBS.
Avatar f tn t seem to be making a difference, so he then prescribed Nexium. Things seemed to only be worse while I was on Nexium as I was experiencing some chest pain after eating or drinking but this stopped for several days after I stopped taking the medication which was in the middle of March. About 2 weeks after stopping the Nexium I've been experiencing a lot of really weird symptoms and am having discomfort on a daily basis.
Avatar m tn p. suggested trying (Nexium) - Esomeprazole 20mg instead, with the instruction that if there was a temporary flare up, - double the dose. After several months this infrequent chest pain, accompanied by bloating, sore stomach and not too much reflux has become very intrusive and the pain worse, often improved by some food! Could the Nexium be too powerful after time and be a trouble maker? has anyone experience, please? I have had "Pylori" test, endoscopy etc.
Avatar f tn After suffering from ibs symptoms for about 6 months I ended up in outpatients at the hospital one day with severe stomach pain. Another heap of test and they sent me home with a script for nexium and mylanta. Slowly the symptoms subsided but have continually come back worse and worse every time. I have just had a full blood work including thyroid and gastroscopy! But all was fine. Except my b12 levels.
Avatar m tn I take nexium daily for the GERD and metamucil daily for the IBS. I am not on any anxiety medication. About 5 years ago I had an upper GI endoscopy that came back fine. 4 days ago I woke up with terrible pressure in my chest. I have had this before with my GERD but this was the worst it had ever been. Since then, the pressure is gone but I have had very strong pains when I swallow or even belch. Basically anything that stretches my esophagus causes horrible pain.
Avatar m tn Endoscopy - Normal - Found h pylori bacteria and mild gastritis. Having been taking Nexium for 2 months. No changes in pain. Taking medication Prevpac for h pylori - taking about 10 days. Colonscopy - Normal CT scan of abdomen/pelvic - Normal CT scan Enterography - Normal - But found Mesenteric panniculitis. Doc said Mesenteric panniculitis is minor and will disappear by itself and nothing to do with upper left abdominal pain.
Avatar f tn For almost 2 years now I have had episodes in the middle of the night or early morning hours where I feel horribly nauseated, start shaking, get diarrhea or vomit, and pass out. This has happened several times with no apparent cause. I'm scared and tired of living this way. My dr. prescibed Nexium which seems to help a bit but I've been having issues again recently. I'm 29, female, have a 6 year old son, I only take nexium and celexa.
Avatar m tn I havent had a single solid bowel movement during this time. I went to the doctor and was given Nexium for some burning I had in my stomach. I took the nexium for five days but it made me feel like I had to go all the time. I stop taking it and that feeling went away. That was a month ago. Ive continued to have diarrhea everyday. Ill give you a run down of my day and how I usually feel. just as a note I also take Axiron for low testosterone.
Avatar f tn i also felt out of breath and had terrible cramps in my tummy, accompanied by diarrhoea. Went in to the doctor who diagnosed me with gastritis and put me on nexium and ulsanic. she also said i had too much acid in the body which resulted in me making frequent to the toile mostly at night to pass urine. She also referred me to a dietician who did not help much. Fast forward to date, the nausea is hardly ever there, but i still get bouts of fatique.
Avatar f tn are there any meds to take that would allow me to take antidepressants without causing pain. i currently take tagamet but is not helping much. when the pain is worse, i take belladona that sometimes helps. would nexium or pilosec help? i take 20mg of Prozac & 0.5mg of ativan daily.

Avatar n tn I have had an ultra-sound, endoscopy, cat scan and colonoscopy. Nothing significant has shown up and I still have the same symptoms. Nexium was prescribed. Any advice?
Avatar m tn It seems to ease up when I get out of bed, but before that it feels like someone is sticking a knife threw me. Does anyone know what could be causing this. I take Nexium 40mg twice a day. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn is it all foods? or just certain foods? It could be a lot of things; acid reflux, a food allergy, some sort of IBS, gastritis, an ulcer. The foods that usually cause such things are foods highly acidic (pasta sauce, coffee, tea), dairy products, garlic, spicy foods, gluten. All these foods have a habit of irritating the stomach. try to avoid them and see if that helps. If not, go to the pharmacy and pick up some nexium and see if that helps.
Avatar m tn s esophagus, Hiatal hernia, acid reflux, IBS, gas and diverticulitus. I have been on Nexium 40mg twice a day, but I still wake up with the pain. Could this be caused by an ulcer ? I also noticed that the pain seems to go away after a bowl movement or if I eat. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I wouldn't take Nexium either without a diagnosis. Nexium suppresses stomach acid, so eventually your stomach will have to make more in order to digest protein and minerals. It becomes an ongoing chronic race between medication and the body's need to digest. But Nexium isn't for ulcers -- for an ulcer, they would give a potent antibiotic to kill the h. pylori. Nexium is for things such as IBS and GERD. The poster really needs a diagnosis in order to plan the next move.
