Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with Barrett's in 2006, and have been on Nexium (40mg) daily ever since. Fortunately, the Barrett's has healed completely, but I am concerned that continued use of Nexium may result in loss of bone and eventual hip fracture. I take calcum, vitamin D, (and other supplements) and exercise regularly, but I can feel my bones "thinning down" (fingers and toes). Is there anything else I should be doing to keep my bone strength up?

Avatar m tn I was wondering if anyone has ever tried Nexium (for over acid production). I infrequently have stomach pain, pop a nexium, and its like a magic bullet. Not only cures the pain, but I have the best dreams and generally well being feeling. I was thinking that the stress of life leads to acid production and that the nexium fixes (tricks) the brain into thinking more positive thoughts or whatever, thereby stopping the cycle of stress and acid production. Anyway, it really works well for me.
Avatar f tn I am a 31 year old mother of 4 boys. I was in a car accident when I was 15. I received multiple fractures to my hip, which I didn't know about. In 2006, my back started to bother me really bad so I decided to go to a specialist. During the X-rays they found the old fractures of my hip. I have lived with the pain for 15 years and 8 months ago finally had enough of it. I got a hip replacement in Feb. I was told after the hip replacement I would feel immediate relief.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm 24, a former ballet dancer (stopped when I was 16) with a stress fracture in the second metatarsal of my right foot that has not healed after 3 years of treatment and a possible new stress fracture in my left foot from over compensating. Why is it that my feet aren't healing and keep fracturing? I don't do any strenuous exercising like running or jumping.

Avatar f tn I fell from a horse and landed on my left hip. Have bruise on left hip from point of impact but also had a long thin bruise below my buttock and along my inner thigh. I was given a girdle brace to wear but cannot wear it. It cause incredible pain in these areas within minutes. I also have numbness at the base of my spine along with the surrounding area being super sensitive. I also have pain going down my buttock into hip and down to my knee.
Avatar n tn Two possible causes of hip pain are fractures and insufficient blood flow to the hip (aseptic necrosis). Hip fractures become more common as people age because falls are more likely and bones become less dense. People with osteoporosis can get a fracture from simple, everyday activities, not just a dramatic fall or injury. As there is no history of trauma, aseptic necrosis could be the cause of pain in hip.
Avatar m tn I have been having a dull kind of pain in my left outer hip for a couple of weeks now. The pain is severe in the mornings immidiately after I wake up and in the evenings. It generally goes away during the day and especially after I have exercised in the gym. When it increases in the evening, it also travels below to the entire leg almost.
Avatar m tn I have been taking nexium for the past few months due to gerd. I also wonder how it works.
1532491 tn?1294594944 Cracking sound in hip joint generally indicates arthritis. Hip joint pain can also be due to old fractures, avascular necrosis of head of thigh bone (poor blood supply), muscle strain, inflammation of tendon and even due to sciatica. An X-ray of the joint, followed by MRI of the joint and lower spine, and nerve conduction studies may be required for confirmed diagnosis. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Take care!
Avatar f tn I'm getting pain in my lower left hip bone bit towards lower abdomen to. I'm not sure if I should see doc as it might not be serious but any idea what it may be?
Avatar f tn I am a 31 yo female wo has been experiencing very sharp pain in my left groin / inner hip for 4 months. The pain occurs when I turn my hip inward and it limits my movement. Recently, I have also developed a tingling sensation in my left foot. Not sure if these two are related or not. I had a pelvic MRI 17 months ago for a lump in my left pelvis, which turned out to be nothing. Would the MRI have picked up anything serious in the hip area?
Avatar f tn Treatment Approach The main goal of treatment is prevention of fractures, particularly hip, vertebral and radial fractures. Treatment approach is population-specific, but calcium and vitamin D supplementation is pertinent to all people at risk of and with osteoporosis. Diet and lifestyle Diet supplementation with calcium and vitamin D (as ergocalciferol) is intended to prevent osteoporosis and reduce the incidence of fracture.
Avatar n tn I am and have been taking Nexium for years, and in the last year have started having lower abdominal pain.....is there anything to that?

Avatar f tn I have what I can only describe as a twisting feeling in the muscle of my thigh when I walk, a deep pain along pubic bone, and pain all around hip when moving. really feel hip is not sitting right and the tight muscle feeling spreads further up my torso as the day wears on.
Avatar f tn i am 34 and have had compression plates and screws put in both hips in november 2010 as i had 2 bilatreal stress fractures/breaks in both necks of my hips on the inside (they are not sure if cause by transient osteo-pregnancy or adults rickets and osteomailits?) 2 different specialist both say two different things! and now july 2011 my breaks havent healed and recent CT scan shows no bone healing at all where my breaks are despite having fixtures in place and the specialists are baffled??
Avatar f tn Stress fractures themselves are not indicative of osteoporosis. Fragility fractures-- which include a fracture of the hip, pelvis, wrist, spine, or shoulder sustained during a fall from standing height-- are concerning for osteoporosis. It is probably worth a baseline screening with a DXA scan, along with a basic panel of labs evaluating for possible secondary causes of low bone density/recurrent stress fractures. If nothing else, this will provide reassurance.
Avatar f tn The past few days I've been experiencing horrible pain in my inside right hip/groin area that quite often radiates down my leg into my knee. It's worse after sitting for a while, which is not a good thing for me because I suffer from severe, debilitating arthritis in all my joints and standing/walking is already very difficult for me. I also suffer from fibromyalgia, lupus and asthma.
Avatar f tn I have had pain on the lateral side of my right hip for a while now, it radiates across my butt and sometimes into my groin, it is worse when lying down and is aggrevated by hip flexion, it will hurt to walk at times. the pain is not constant. I went to the chiropractor today who said that everything associated with that area was very tight, she also said there is alot of swelling along my posterior pelvis. she gave me exercises and told my to ice it. What is going on?
Avatar n tn I have constant hip pain and it is hard to walk. when I went to PT the therapist pulled on my left leg and ALL my pain was gone!! but they didn't do any thing about it, they left me as I am. what can I do?? what is wrong with my alignment? I have fallen many times and 5 of those times caused trauma to my hip, knee and tailbone.
Avatar f tn I experience hip pain on my right side for more than a month now. Avatar m tn For nearly a year now i have been getting a pain in my right hip whenever i move, if i have been standing still for a couple minutes. An example, i was standing and talking to someone today for 5 minutes, in no pain. And as soon as i started walking again my right hip hurt with every step of my right foot. This pain carried on for about an hour. And then slowly dulled down. This happens everyday, with no pattern just everytime im still for longer than a few seconds.

1701959 tn?1488551541 Over the past 2 months I have developed hip pain, more so when I move too quickly at an odd angle or when I lay on that hip at night. I went to my primary care doctor and she had an xray ordered, it came back with a benign simply cyst that we will check on again in 3 months or so. She gave me anti-inflamatories and said that if it gets much worse I can go to an Ortho. What would you all recommend?
